I was going through a pile of old stuff, and found an Indiana Jones Decoder Card for decrytping the drawings in the queue, that I must of picked up at DL the year Indy was released. Does anyone else have this ?

Wow, I remember i had a couple. I didn't think it was going to be important, so they became lost in time. Wish I had mine now. lucky.

I have mine! And I've decoded almost everything in the temple. The only things I couldn't read were the inscriptions on those stone tablets at the front of the video room (the text on them is too small and my camera couldn't get a good shot of them and the CMs won't let me get near the tablets or stand in front of them to get a shot. Stupid CMs! ).

When I went to DLR with some people at VF, I was trying to read off the inscriptions without the card (which I think I did pretty well). Even without the decoder card though, the letters don't look that different from the normal alphabet.

pfft who needs a decorder its not to hard to read it like when you are enterine the line when your going into the building above the doorway it says "the eye of mara" I saw that on RU42's IJA video andread it without using the decoder card.

^^Umm, hello? That's exactly what I said... :icon_roll

Even if you *can* read the inscriptions without a decoder card, it still looks cool and it's a nice keepsake.

When I was going through all of my old stuff in my house about 3 years ago, I happened to come upon 3 old IJA decoder cards. What was really cool was that each one is different! The only time I ever remember decoding the walls was back in the 90's when the ride broke down. We decided to stay and spent a good half hour decoding the wall at the top of the stairs. I vaguely remember what it says nowadays and I'm pretty bummed out that these days you move so rapidly through the temple that you can't do that anymore. :frown:

For those without the Decoder card, you can click here (http://www.perry.com/disney/indy/marafont.html) to download the Mara font and make your own. I know thats a little ghetto to do, but you can decode the messages nevertheless. I sure wish I had a decoder card!

When that ride opened they were handing those out like they were going out of style. I got a bunch of them in storage.

my pleasure. It's kinda fun to have some Disney stuff on your computer and at your disposal. You can actually do some really fun and creative things with that font..... just use your imagination.

Could you scan one and post the image on the site? That would be awesome. I am going there, and would love to have a card for my dad and myself.

I still have the one I got. Man ten years ago it opened. I keep mine in my wallet. It's always been there, it's nice to have. Come to think of it, as long as I had it, I never actually tried to decode the encryptions on the walls...hmm...well I did try when I first got it but I would usually get a word then the line would move...but I was 8 then.

I remember in freshmen year my friend and I would use it to pass notes to each other. I actually memorized the thing, but it had all left my head...ah good times

I have about 6 of them, 1 that is different than most of what they handed out. And I also have 2 "Special" decoders because my family went on the "Indiana Jones Vaction" to Disneyland back in 1995 and we recieved two decoders that are plastic with a rotating circle on the bottom that was our decoder. It also came with a string to hang over your head in line. They are very cool and I'm guessing very rare too. Lucky me!

I found some pictures of the cards. Here they are.

This is the most common card to see. But there are also these:

(That's the 1 other I have)

So those are the 3 cards I know of. But I'll see about getting a picture of my BIG decoder scanned and put on here.

I have several of those cards. They're fun to look at! I remember, when I was younger, I somehow managed to memorize the Maraglyphics, so I would send messages to my siblings in that "language."

I finally found mine again and put it in my Disneyland scrapbook. I've had about three of them but I kept losing them. Glad I finally have one for safe keeping.
