It was Tuesday August 16th. Fastpass was down I noticed in DaddyB's update that he didn't go that day well I went with my g/f and yes the lines moved at a lightning quick pace. With the exceptions of splash mountain and space mountain which were still over hour waits but Indy couldn't have been more than 20 mins in stand by that day.

Note to fat cat corporate guys in Disney...yeah especially you Eisner.....GET RID OF FASTPASS!!!

Be careful about eating bread - insert that link from the other thread on this - same topic here

In other words, is the shutting down of fast pass directly related to the length of the lines? Was it a slow/normal/busy day?

You probably has short lines because the crowds are winding down because school is starting (BOO!).

I don't agree with the get rid of Fastpass because when I went on the Memorial Day weekend (My B-day) the park was jam-packed so Fastpass really helped out. I didn't like the old "Everybody is a stand-by guest" program. I try to not wait above an hour for rides.

Yeah I was there on that day. At first we just thought one of the machines were down, but as we were walking around, the lines were longer and it turned out the whole system was down. We thought it was the end of the world, but the lines moved quickly for the most part. We were kinda happy cuz then we could take time and actually experience the designs and detail of the queues.

Isn't this exactly what I said would happen? Except I thought it'd be Al Lutz, instead of Taxx, but no matter, I knew it was coming.

Al Lutz is going to find the only ride that had a significantly shorter stand-by wait time than it did with FastPass & blast it all over his next article. You watch. When it happens, don't be surprised, and remember that most of the rides' wait times were about the same with FastPass down.
I'm not a big fan of retarded arguments. "Look! Look! Space Mtn usually has 180mins stand-by & when FastPass goes down it went to 80! Doesn't FastPass suck? Die FastPass Die!" :icon_roll That would be a retarded argument.

That was posted on this thread http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3313: started on 8/18. And I started it because I knew someone would make that sort of jump. Yes the lines would move a little faster w/o the FP merges, however it is nowhere near good enough to merit completely abandoning a system that many people actually use to make their days better. I really enjoy getting FP's during the day to ensure we have quick trips on rides like Space Mtn and Indy later on at night.

Also...could it perhaps have something to do with it being a Tuesday & not a Friday/Saturday? :icon_idea Lines move significantly quicker when there's 10-20 thousand less people in those lines, regardless of the evil FastPass.

FastPass provides a way for people to creatively plan their day to see the most stuff around the park outside of ride queues while waiting a bit longer to ride their favorite attractions. It is very possible to ride the E-tickets without ever waiting in a stand-by line at all. How cool is it to know that when you walk up to a ride that you don't have to wait in line? That you can get a pass, come back 3-4hrs later, go ride other stuff, park-hop, watch parades/shows, eat, play DDR, walk around, see stuff thats been updated, whatever & then come back & ride Space Mountain while waiting all of 15-20mins? Now in truth you waited 3 hours & 20mins, but it did not feel like it at all.

There's way more fun to be had with FastPass than without, but alas people just don't get it. It is an uninevitable consequence - those who use it like it, those who don't use it hate it, period. FastPass is & has always been your choice to use or not to use. If you choose not to use it, and then complain about it, well what can I tell you? Should we remove FP from a FP ride that has a 60min stand-by? Well that would mean we all wait about 45mins, instead of some waiting 60mins and others waiting 10mins. If you wait the 60mins watching the FP'ers go by, well obivously you aren't going to be happy. But it's not like those people paid more money, or are any different than you are. They just chose to use a system you could have used, but you didn't.

With the 2-hour rule, there really isn't any reason why you can't use it for what you want to ride. And it isn't some remarkable concept that if you go looking for a FP for Space Mtn at 7pm that they will be sold out. If you want to ride Space Mtn around 7pm, know that going in and get a FP at the appropriate time earlier. Don't just spontaneously walk up at 7pm, see a 160min stand-by queue, FP's sold out & hate FP for it! It wasn't FP's fault that you made those choices. So don't kill it because of that. If FP wasn't there, you'd still be waiting about 120mins, and then everyone would have to wait just like @ Magic Mtn. So don't ruin it for those who enjoy those quick rides that FP allows. You can have them too & if you want help with it, I would be more than willing to help you with whatever tips & aids you need with it. I have posted numerous guides on how to use FP & Single Rider lines to your ultimate advantage. All I can say is, please use them. FP & Single Rider are there for your convenience & to make your day better. If you use them, I'm sure your day will feel much more complete and much happier.

I personally enjoy Fast Pass!!! I really, really, really enjoy fast pass. My b/friend and I have it down to a science!!

Do you know, if you miss the time on the ticket if you can still ride? We never ever had problems returning outside the time but once at WDW the CM for Philharmagic wouldn't let us on. I think we were an hour late.

The only thing i didnt like about them when i was there was in DCA. Because my dad has bad ankles we get to go through the exits but now they make him use fast passes. I didnt like this because we went to go on screamin california and all the fast passed were sold out for the rest of the night and they wouldnt let us go through the exit...other wise i think they're a good idea

People who were there said that it wasn't all that bad. I went the very next day by coincidence and it was absolutely packed.

I really love FP! Especially after reading PeoplemoverMatt's tips because, frankly, there was still a lot I didn't know about FP. Now I can fully maximize every Disneyland visit.

Looking at FP people from a stand-by person's point of view, I can understand why people might hate it. But as Matt said, it's available to everyone and if you choose not to use it, then you can't complain.

There are still a few rides that I wish they could make FastPasses for, although I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me (and besides, the rides I want FPs for don't have any room for a separate queue).

I don't understand the whole, hating those with fastpasses while waiting in the standby line thing. I personally have never felt upset or mad at others because they have a fastpass and I don't. It's a matter of planning and using this free service to your advantage. Like PMM said, no one is better then anyone else. No one is getting preferential treatment. It's whether you choose to use fastpass or not. I personally enjoy fastpass, and like Casey said, my husband and I have it down to a science too! Just my opinion.

Well, I'm not one of those people who hate the FastPass service...But sometimes when I have a FP, can't get another one and want to ride a ride that provides FP, it can get a little frustrating when the CM doesn't let anyone from the stand-by line through even though there is nobody in sight with a FP. I know they do this so that if/when someone with a FP comes, they'll be able to use their FP for what it was intended to do (because if they constantly let stand-by people through and then a FP person shows up, they wouldn't really get that far ahead). But sometimes it really can get a bit aggravating because then the 40 predicted minute wait time is really more like 50 minutes.

^ We've sorta been over this already. Some CMs run the merge more fluidly than others & that's a problem with the CM, not with the FastPass system itself.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate fastpass. It's saved my bacon from waiting in long Indy lines for years. It was just nice for everyone to be on the same page for a change and when there is only one line going the CM's work harder and get people on the rides faster. That was nice.

Well, everyone is on the same page to begin with, then they make their choices. CMs at load/unload should never do anything different with the FP computers on vs them being off. If they do, that's a major issue. I mean, come on, do you really think a Ride Op CM saw the computer down and thought "Finally! At last I don't have to keep artifically stopping people from boarding the ride for no good reason!"?? I mean yeah, before the merge things may have gone slightly quicker, but the system is such that there should be a 5-10min difference at the very most. CMs at load/unload shouldn't even notice if FP is up or not. When/if you feel like you're waiting longer because of FP, remember you could have gotten a FP if you wanted to. When you are using a FP, try not to think at all of the stand-by line you aren't waiting in.

I agree with you 100 pecent, Matt. I absolutely LOVE fastpass. While it does have some flaws, I still love it. When I was at Disneyland and DCA, it was spring break and of course, the rides had long lines. We decided to use it for Soarin' Over California. If we had done standby, that would be 70 minutes wasted in line. But thanks to fastpass, we only waited like 10 minutes. Same thing happened with other popular rides like SM and Cali. Screamin. Thank you FP.

I remember when I used to get away with using previous DL tickets for fast passes that way I could get many at one time. But I guess they figured out that a bunch of people were doing it so they shut that cool ability down. Too bad for that.

I was there, i like it more with fastpasses. i like being able to have my place held for me in line electronically so i can come back at the given time to ride a ride that i love.

Do people remember DL without FP? All the lines were still really long. I enjoy DL so much more with FP, especially with the AAA tickets that let you have one FP for every ride at any time. Then when you get there you can just go get a bunch of FPs and then spend the whole day using them.
