Hope this isn't a repeat, tried to search but didn't see it....... We are going back to Disneyland in March 2006 & planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel & using the monorail to get back & forth to the park, but there is a site saying the monorail is going down in January to rebuild the Tomorrowland Station for the Finding Nemo Voyage project. Does anyone know if this is true or not, I have some medical conditions and walking after a few hours is quite painful & before I pay a ton of money to stay at the DH I want to know the monorail will be there & open. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx ;)

I'd call them and ask.. if it will be down or if they don't know yet, ask about an alternative method of transportation perhaps besides walking. They might have something. You also might try staying at the Grand Californian if this is the case(though the zig zag corridors are a little annoying and make it seem longer). Walking to it from the main entrance gate is about the same walk as walking to the disneyland hotel from the monorail depending on your tower.

Ask and you shall receive! From MousePlanet...

Disneyland Monorail closure beginning sometime in January 2006. Not yet announced, though expected involve almost a complete rebuilding of Tomorrowland Station to accommodate Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, a complete refurbishment (though not reconstruction) of the track, and hopefully new monorails to replace the existing vehicles.

There ya go!

But like I said, call and ask. And find out, should this happen as rumored, if any alternative transportation could be arranged for someone with some medical issues. Though this might only apply if you were going to need a wheel chair within the park anyways.

Also, be aware that the Monorail station isn't really in or near the Disneyland Hotel. It's still a little bit of a walk from DH to get to the station, which is located in Downtown Disney.

If the Monorail is going to be down for a long time, that Nemo ride had better be good! :p

Don't remind me :( *cries and wants the old DL hotel back with the monorail right at its entrance*

The monorail station never moved. There had been buildings there before that had a toy store and clothing stores. Plus there was the Canadian restaurant called the Mountie, I think (don't qoute me on the name). There was even a couple of bungalos you could rent plus there was a liquor store. I use to get toys at the toy store all the time. I miss the old look of that section of DL Hotel. At least they still have the waterfalls.

Thank you all for your responses, when I wrote to guest services at Disneyland they told me they don't have a refurbishment schedule further than 3 months out (which I'm sure is not the case, but that was the answer I was given) lol but I just noticed that riderefurbs now has it listed with a question mark.....ho hum, we'll figure it out but again thanx bunches for the help!! :p

Well, 1: It'll be good to have a new track and new trains... the track is worn and bumpy, and the trains are being held together with duct tape (literally!) and 2: I dont see why the station also needs to be remodeled just so it fits with the theme of the ride whos queue is below. Pffff... Disney...

They added a big elevator that blocks the old queue area...
It's way too cramped in there anyways since they changed it a bit for the Winner's Circle, even after they remove Winner's Circle
and why not? As long as they keep the conveyer belts this time I'm fine with them upgrading something while we have a park president who's on a good run with redoing things well.
