Hey everybody! So, I have most of January off from school and was considering going to Disneyland during that time since I figure most people will be in school and the park would be pretty empty. But before I get anything too planned out I wanted to check about a couple of things.
First, the park really is less crowded in January, right? I'm thinking about mid-week of the second or third week. Mid-week's less crowded, too right? Although I guess I shouldn't worry too much cause it is January.
Second, about what is the weather like in January. A guess is perfectly fine since I know that no one here can predict the weather. Well, I guess I mostly just want to know if it tends to be rainy or not.
And third, about when do they usually take down the Christmas decorations around the park and on IASW and HM? Not that it matters, but I was just kind of curious.

I think January 1 is a safe day, because most SoCal visitors probably hit up the rose parade. I wouldn't, however, go to DL "right after Christmas." My family and I went the day after Christmas one year, and it was the most crowded I have EVER seen Disneyland. I would wait until January, as I can see you are! I'm sure there will be hardly any crowds. January's weather is usually in the 60s or 50s (and lower at night...), and there's always a chance of rain! Check your weather forecast before you leave, but if I were you, I'd bring at least a hooded sweatshirt in case of rain. Have an awesome time, and enjoy the empty park!

I'm hoping that I'll be able to go to Disneyland for my birthday! January 5th baby! :old_wink: It usually always rains on my birthday and in January in general, so keep that in mind. And it'll be coooold! But yeah, I'm not expecting there to be any crowds and hopefully there won't be a gazillion rides down for a refurb!

Your curiosity is my escape from boredom!
From MousePlanet:
Haunted Mansion closed Jan. 9?25, 2006 to remove overlay.
it's a small world closed January 9-25, 2006, to remove overlay
Disneyland Monorail closure beginning sometime in January 2006...
Looks like going in the first week of January would be the way to go.

Ok, so let's recap. Yes, the park will be less crowded. Yes, the park will be cold and more than likely rainy. And if I go the first week the Christmas decorations will still be up. I think I've got it! If anyone else has any other useful information I'm all ears!

When people say it is going to be cold in S CA I kinda have to laugh a bit. Yes it can get chilly but, cold. The reason I say this is because I grew up in S CA and now I live in N CA in the Sierra's. Cold to me is 10 below. Last Oct we were staying at the DLH and there were a couple of storms that came through. On the news they kept talking about a winter storm watch and how cold it was going to be, it never got below 53 degrees. Now granted the mountains did get snow but, Anaheim has no clue what a real winter storm watch is. So if you are use to the real cold weather just be warned that when S Californians' says its cold it is not really that cold.
January I think would be a great time to go if you don't want to deal with the crowds. Our favorite time to go is February and I wear shorts at that time of year. Do prepare for rain though but, that can also be another plus, the parks are empty when it rains.
