Who else thinks that they should put back the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough back into Sleeping Beauty Castle? When I went to Disneyland for the first time when I was five I wet through the walkthrough a bizzillion times and I though it was the coolest thing. When I went last Christmas with my family it was gone and I was very dissapointed. :( Has anybody heard any rumors about it's return or if it will never come back? Please report if you hear anything.

The entrance is in the little passage that leads from the Fantasyland courtyard to the Plaza Gardens and it is/was quite well hidden.

Goes to show you how ignorant I was. I didn't even know you could enter the castle!

The enterance is/was to your right as you walked under the portcullis. It was an unadorned door with an awning very near the statue of Aroura and Phillip dancing, as I remember.
The last time I was there they had closed it due to vandels. I always loved it. I do hope they bring in back

It might not have been overly obvious at times but I don't think it was really hidden at all.

I loved going in the castle! It was really cool in there. I wonder if they still have all that up in there. I would love to have a Sleeping Beauty doll from in there LOL

I always found it funny that the dancing Aroura and Phillip in the final scene were Barbie and Ken all dressed up. I'm not sure why.
The castle was very nice to walk through. As a child I found it enchanting, like a book come to life. As an adult I just thought it was pretty cool. I read a book that said Walt put it there because he thought the castle was wasted space and it should have an attraction. I agree with him. The could just install a video survalience system for vandles and whatever.

Well, kids, I hate to disappoint you but last Summer the final scene from the castle walk-through (where Aurora is being kissed by Prince Philip), was iinstalled in the window of the Emporium on Main Street! Since that scene has been removed, I would wager they have taken out all of the vignettes in the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through. I LOVED walking through that attraction and was so sad when they closed it. Cross your fingers they put it back the way it was so we can all enjoy it again.

The barbie and ken dolls were donated by Shirley Temple to Walt Disney. Read some facts about it here http://www.oitc.com/Disney/Disneyland/Secrets/Fantasy/CastleDiorama.html

OMG, I never knew about this! Boy, I'm really dense, aren't I? When did they close this attraction? Was it ever listed on the Disneyland map? I would have loved to see it if I had known about it. It was always my dream to be able to walk inside the castle! Little did I know that you actually could!

I think they took it out after 9/11.

I went in it a number of times, but I could never find iot by myself. Whenever my mom was with me, I would ask her to find the entrance for me. I liked it in there.

I too hope they bring it back. It wasn't very handicap friendly though, cause of all the stairs. Who knows, maybe they are looking into changing it so everyone can go through it.

At one time after sleeping beauty walkthrough was closed, the final scene of them kissing was put in a window of the emporium until May 5, 2005. It now has the dolls dancing on a turntable with the other disney princesses. Anyone notice that before?

I loved the Castle walk through attraction. I loved being able to walk into the castle, just doing that seemed special to me. I really do hope that one day they will bring it back, but I dont think they will. That was just a special attraction, and I know I will never forget it. Just the other day I downloaded the video of the attraction and it all came back to me! But hopefully someday they will bring that back so everyone can see how special that attraction really was!

Imagine having a private apartment (like Walt did) or an office up there. You couldn't beat the view!

I was told by a cast member at the gift shop next to the walk thru that the reason why they closed the attraction is that it would not accomidate the wheelchairs for the handicap. There was no plans for reopening. i was bummed too!!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't know if they will reopen it since 9/11. That's what i've heard. There were a lot of issues i guess, wheelchair accessible, 9/11, vandels. yah i've never been and i would really love to see it in person.

I think I'm one of the most bummed people here, because I never knew about it, thus never went on it!

Since the attraction is gone, I wonder if they're doing anything with the space? Maybe for storage or something?

Just out of curiosity, how far up the castle did it go? Did you ever get to walk on the top/outside of the castle? Can the CMs still access the inside where the attraction was? I was thinking that if you could actually walk on the top/outside of the castle, then perhaps the attraction is gone because of the stuff they do for the fireworks show on the castle. Or that people might mess up the 50th decorations or something. I don't know...

There's something a little blah about the models (maybe that they look so generic and not really like the characters), but yeah... If only...

Actually, it could be totally uber now... Throw in some projections and animatronics, and kaboom! Oh yeah, and some handicapped access.

well the brair rose and prince phillip dolls are actually Barbie dolls and donated by Shirley Temple herself.. So that might explain the blah-ness, because they werent like dolls made after the movie.

being there mainly as a kid i did not know about it and i know i would not be interested in back then. was mainly into the rides i liked. so for those that did the side tour were the figures animated or stationary?

This is so funny! I fell asleep rewatching Sleeping Beauty last night because I found it within the caverns of my closet, and I dreamt that I was back in the castle walkthrough, except I was Aurora. I touched the spindle of the spinning wheel, and I woke up! lol

The figures were static, as I recall. If there was any animation, it was an arm movement or a rotating figure. These were not audio-animatronics but more like department store window displays.

You did not walk outside. You entered the stairs at the back of the castle, walked up and over the tunnel, then down the other side. The Villian's Lair/Narnia meet & greet is set up in front of the exit from the walkthrough.

I miss the walk thru. Why would they close it? Just because of some 9-11 incident? Bull. Then they should close the whole park with it. And not to sound mean but if it were because of the handicapped not being able to go in it due to the stairs, then why are they still going to use the old subs that they can't get into either. But they will have a video are for them to use to see the attraction, so why not do the same for this? The attendance was always fairly decent for it. Maybe because of the crampt space it is in. Either way, they should really bring it back.

On the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition DVD there is a 3-D Virtual Gallery that looks like it might be based on the Castle Walkthrough. Can anyone verify this?
