so yesterday i went to disneyland and it was about 11:25pm, so about 35 minutes before closing time. no one was there around critter country (except in the 50 minute line for Splash) so my friends and i decided to go to winnie the pooh. my cousin who was with us told us that there is a hidden surprise in the ride, a memento of the Country Bear Jamboree attraction that used to be there. and i'll tell you what it is if you don't know. in the last part of the ride you go to pooh's birthday. if you look behind you in that room above the door you enter in your vehicle, is Max, Buff, and i can't remember the other one but he's there too. it's very cool to see that, and also a bit freaky, but still very cool. so look at it and tell me what you think. and also someone tell me what the other one's name is please.

remember how in the actual Country Bears show all 3 were on a wall right in a row? that's exactly how they appear...on a wall at the top almost touching the ceiling right in a row.

Yeah, i know  Found a few pictures of that just a few minutes ago on the internet... You know more hidden things like that?

I saw those the first time I went on that ride by accident. I just happened to be looking back into the heffalumps and woozles room, and saw them up on the wall. It was scary, but cool.

I have heard of that but didnt know exactly where to look for them, and now I know! That must be a little weird to still see them up on the wall. Thats like one of my favorite rides, and I cant wait to go ride it and see that now! ;)

if you look behind you in the room with the party thingy, on the wall by the ceiling where you enter the room, they have Max, Melvin, and Buff there.

I have only ridden it once. Maybe next time, If i can gather the courage to ride again, I will look for them.

Gather the courage???
Well you're right... that just has to be THE most scariest attraction in the park :icon_excl

seriously, it actually was quite frightening. We just finished splash, and we were like, Hey, lets do pooh since we are already here. so we did it, and I don't think i could do it again. So it will take some courage to ride it. I just wan not too impressed with it.
laurens88
08-28-2005, 12:48 PM
But what frightens you about the ride then? The remainders of the country bear ride?

It must be Disney's MO to put elements of a former ride when they put a new one. You can see the mighty microscope in Star Tours, too. And of course there's the Eeyore sign

I'm Dutch, so: What does MO mean?
And what's the mighty microscope, and where's the Eeyore sign?
(I really don't know because i have never visited DL or WDW, only DLRP)
Thanks :icon_excl

In other words: style, or method of doing things, it's a law enforcement term when investigating a series of crimes, they'll say they all had a particular "M.O".

But what's the mighty microscope and where is the Eeyore sign to be found ?

The mighty microscope attraction used to be in the Star Tours area. See, when you leave the station of the ride, you will see the microscope. The old attraction is called Adventure Through Inner Space, now replaced by ST.
The Eeyore sign is in the Indiana Jones Advenuture quene line area, the preshow room, the place is so dark, that you can't see the hidden sign. you must bring a flashlight to see.

Really? I never knew that. Where exactly is the microscope?
And as for the Winnie the Pooh thing, I've seen those three heads! It really is freaky, especially if you aren't expecting to see them! I tell people to look back/up as soon as you leave the Heffalumps and Woozles room. Oh, and you can really only see them if you're sitting in row one (and possibly row 2, although I've never been in row 2). You can't see anything from row 3, mostly because of how the ride vehicle is shaped.

^ You will see the microscope on the "floor" of the maintenance bay that you crash into in the beginning. We will discuss how things stay on the floor of a room exposed to space later. ;)

I first heard of max, buff, and melvin still on the wall on www.dldhistory.com. I've been to disneyland to see if that was true many times... but I kept looking in the wrong place, then I found them on my last trip a few weeks ago. It scared me, but it was cool!

This is something of a tradition at Disneyland; if a ride is taken out to make room for another, they like to hide a reference to the old ride there. Neat to know they're still doing that. :D

also if you look at the spot i think in the very beginning of the ride where winnie the pooh is hanging from a balloon going up and down, that exact spot is where Teddy Beara would come down on her swing

I've got a picture of the eeyore sign from one of my old photo updates. They put it in the film (safety spiel) room. It's in the building as a homage to the fact that the Indiana Jones Building took over what used to be the Eeyore section of the parking lot.
I took a picture of it with a decent flash and still had to play with the picture in photoshop to bring it out. It's just about impossible to see.

On my trip (Aug18-21) we were right at the front of the line in the "snake" line-up part and the CM quietly said to me and my brother to turn around. He then took out a flashlight and spotlighted the sign. It was awesome.

daddyb - Thanks for that picture! It looks excellent! I've seen other peoples' pictures of Eeyore, but it was nearly impossible to make out what it was. I always thought their imaginations were getting the best of them!
...Sounds like everyone is getting competitive! I'm good at DDR 4th mix, but that's about it...

The queue for indiana jones has been really lit as of late, including the film room. If you have a good camera with a nice zoom, you might be able to get a fuller shot of the sign from the other end and corner of the room.

Aren't having the lagoon and the original subs paying homage enough? Anyway, I consider an old abandoned car sitting in a field that has been stripped of all it's parts and is just a shell with rust and some torn seats (mostly springs) a step up from our Pooh ride.
