they come out and play when disneyland opens everyday and are very popular in the park.

ya, I have never seen a teenager in the marching band, only men with grey hair lol. there is a first time for everything though, even if it might be hard you should still try to audition. but dont they only let a person join if one person drops out??

That picture is not the Disneyland band. The disneyland band are real people (mostly older people). They play at park opening and march down main street often.

Dude I've have been a drummer for 20 years.....finally a fellow drummer, right on! Listen, I know that you must be of DCI (Drum Corps International) calliber player to even be considered. The Marching band is mostly older cats. But you can also look into the Trash Can Drummers. As a matter of fact those are the guys that are doing the real drumming anyways. For that past 10 years I have noticed that the SAME people have been playing in the bands, it doesnt look like positions open up very often, and when they do I'm sure the list is LOOOOONG. So good luck!
Image, playing drums in the happiest place on earth! Even if it meant only making 20 bux an hour to do it.. I would in a heart beat!!!

I play Guitar in this particular band..... it's metal, so even if you don't like metal you can dig a fellow musicians work

Drumming is my life. I do marching and drummin on a set too. I can do what the trash can drummers can do. I currently play snare in my drumline and will play it next year also. A lot of people say. WOW Those trash can trio are good. When i say its easy stuff. ( well, i mean easy because i already know how to do it. Ya know?)

I'm a professional bassist. I have played everything from top 40 to jazz to swing to blues. One of the main tasks of a bassist is to lock in with the drummer. So I know a lot about drumming. Sometimes, people are so good at what they do, that they make it look easy. So I don't necessarily agree that " they aren't playing anything hard at all". I have listened to them and their timing is excellent. To strike three trash cans and keep it either in unison or playing counter to each other and still keep it tight...I say they are doing an excellent job. Just had to comment. :)

For those who plan to try out...I hope you make it..Keep us informed.

I think Tom Float (the originator of the TCT) has done a great job with the group. I would say that they do about 90% intermediate drumming with only 10% advanced skills stickings. But if you had to drum for an 8-hour shift, would you really want to play the rippenest, fastest, hardest stuff you possibly can? Not me. I used to work at the park, and got to drum with the guys backstage quite abit, and I definately give these guys praise for showmanship.
It is surprising that what started out as Tom and two of the Magic Kingdom Korps subs has lasted so long. (Even made the MKK fold, due to money!)

What I missed was when there were two performing groups of the TCT, and they joined together to do a 30 minute set in front of the old Premiere Shop. That was cool.

Tom Float was my instructor at UNLV & Bluedevils (not Duke, but DCI). So I FULLY understand what it takes to be a drummer under his instruction.

Ghoofie,
I see your point. But comparitavely speaking, the don't play anything that an above average high school drummer can't.
I'm NOT saying they aren't good, they are phenomenal. I watch them every chance I get and love every minute of it.

Jeffmicheals,
Your a very lucky guy, not to many people can say what you can. Yea, I dunno about shreddin it up for 8 hours straight, that would get pretty rough on the wrists. Tho, they made us do it for the Bluedevils!! and we weren't even gettin paid!!! we had to PAY to be there, LOL!!!!

Our school is thinking about sending in audition tape for Marching Band (Trumpet is what I play, also the drum-major) and Madrigal (Alto right here!)

BTW.....My school is a middle school and the other fellow drum-majors are disney freaks like me and stuff and we might get to enter behind Toontown and we can't take pics =( but when I heard this I was so happy!
