Disney Dining Plans

Okay, heres the deal...

Its been a while since i was at the resort, and i know that the food has always been pricey.... does 8 dining choices make 87 bucks seem like a bargain or is that more like just fronting the money like disney dollars?

Define "8 dining choices." If that means 8 paid meals at sit down restaurants, then I think that is a bargain. If that is $87 for 8 quick meals in the park, I still think that is pretty good. When we go to Disneyland, we usually end up spending about $10 per person for lunch, and that's if we can convince our kids to "eat cheap." Hope this helps you!

thats 3 sit down meals, three breakfasts, and two lunch/snack choices.... im not sure tho... but to me that seems like a bargain, i just wanted to make sure my memory of outragously priced food serves me well.

That sounds like a bargain to me. If the sit-down meals and breakfasts include drinks, it would save money. Also, I think at least one of those breakfasts is a character breakfast, which are usually pricey. If I were you, I would milk the plan for all it's worth and eat at pricey places like the Blue Bayou each night!

If you are referring to the dining plans at the DLR here are my experiences with them.

If you want to pre-pay for your meals they are great.

If you do get them don't forget to take them with you everytime you leave your room.

Here is what you get with the 3 day Donald's Plan (I'm going on last years)
1 charater breakfast
1 breakfast in the park
3 5.00 vouchers - can only be used at the outside vending carts
2 10.00 vouchers
1 15.00 vouchers

you can combine the 10.00 and 15.00 vouchers. You do not get change back with the vouchers. So you need to keep an eye on what you are spending. You can also combine them with cash.

All in all the vouchers are great if you want to pay a head of time. But they are like cash, except for not getting change back

I also forgot, you do not get a refund on any unused vouchers. So if you buy them don't forget to spend them.

You can purchase them with a package online at the official Disneyland site or throught the Disney Travel Company if you call them direct. AAA also offers them with their package deals for Disneyland.

Well cool, I'll definatly have to keep that in mind. I have an AP so I usually dont book using vacation packages but I might need to one of these days. Thats awesome though.

I wanted to let you know that the last time we did the dining plan we booked a package for 7 nights. I ended up getting the 5 day plan, this turned out not to be such a good idea. Reason because, we wanted to eat at places that did not except the vouchers, such as Downtown Disney restaurants. Anywho, it was a mad rush to spend these vouchers which turned out to be a big pain. I ended up spending a large part of them on goodies from the Bakers' Field Bakery at DCA to bring home. This next trip we are going for 8 nights but, we will be going to other places such as Knotts and Laguna so I am only going to get the 3 day plan.
