Hey everyone! I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any good hotels around the Disneyland Resort. I already know the DLR Hotels are the best place to stay, but any other suggestions? I work for a hotel chain and I tend to stay within those hotels.. But does anyone have any suggestions? Like what is your favorite place to stay when traveling to the DLR? ;)

if you are going to disneyland stay at the disneyland hotel, if you are going to both parks or only DCA stay at disney's grand californian hotel <-- nice hotel!

If you have money then the DLR hotels are nice. However, I feel DLR is very different the WDW and that you are not missing too much by not staying at one of the Disney hotels.

I have always lived nearby so I don't have first hand experience, but I have heard many great comments on Candy Cane Hotel. I have heard it is great price, very clean, good service, shuttles - basically everything you would want (and more money to spend in the Parks!)

I will give my opinion on where NOT to stay....lol don't stay at the Desert Inn & Suites.....they put a hold on your card you reserve with & pay with (some people have found out when trying to use their card & couldn't.....) the parking is terrible & the pool is cold & so is the hot tub. I have heard great things from different people about the Howard Johnson's on Harbor Blvd..... Hope that helps some !!

I can back that up. I stayed at that hotel and the word "terrible" doesn't even explain the horrors of trying to find a parking space! I think the worst thing was that people would illegally double park. So then if you had to get somewhere and someone double parked behind you...Well, you're pretty much screwed.

Last month I stayed at the Castle Inn & Suites. It was extremely affordable and had a hot tub actually IN the room. I believe it was only a two-star rated hotel, but it was decent for just sleeping in. However, parking again was a problem. They *claim* they'll have one parking spot for each room, but they really don't. Unlike the Desert Inn & Suites, however, they had an overflow parking next door. Still, it was a pain to have to walk all the way back to the hotel.

I have a feeling that most of the smaller and more affordable hotels around that area will have problems with parking though. If they really want to have a 1 parking spot per room rule, they should label the parking spots. Not that that would solve the problem, but it might help?

Oh I agree it seems like all the hotels there have minimal parking. Which is difficult to park close to the room and unload everything. I really havent had much of a problem at where I stay with parking. Yeah I know about the Castle Inn and it seems like a cool place to stay. Thanks for the information!

We have stayed at both Holiday Inn at the Park and Staybridge Suites and liked both places. Parking was plentiful at Staybridge, but at Holiday Inn we ALWAYS had to park in the overflow parking after we got back late from the park. At the Holiday Inn, we could see the fireworks right from our hotel room which was cool and they had a really nice pool area. I preferred our room at the Staybridge though. Hope this helps!

Yeah it does thanks Piglet! Are you talking about the holiday Inn on Harbor blvd? right next to the I-5 entrance? I have always thought about staying there... Thank you for the advice I will have to check out those hotels! :p

Ok, here are some of the hotels I have stayed at:

Ramada Main Gate: Stayed here July16-18. Parking was tight, but I easily found a spot, and since the hotel is within walking distance to the DLR, I never moved the car. The room was clean, and I felt safe there. The room was nothing spectacular, but it was nice. Free breakfast, but I never ate there. There is a coffee shop and a convenience store, whic came in handy. The rate was good too, I just went to Ramadas website. I didn't like that I had to go pysically check out, I'm used to just leaving the keys in the room. I would stay there again.

Travelodge International(on Harbor): Stayed here twice. Both times, parking was not an issue at all, even coming back at 2a.m. The rooms both times were clean, and they have a refridgerator in the rooms. Free breakfast too, although it is nothing fancy. The bathroom is nice because the vanity is seperated form the shower/toilet, which make getting ready in the morning faster! The rate was always cheap, and I booked directly through Travelodge's website. I would stay there again, but you should drive to the park. It's a little long to walk;)

Anabella: Just stayed here in June. The rooms were gorgeous! My friend got a fantastic deal through Hotwire, so the rate was good! We walked to the park, but in my opinion it wsa a little too far to walk at the end of the day. The only thing I did not like about the place is that they sent a letter to my friend after we had left, saying that we broke the window, and charged her $30 for it. How are we supposed to argue that we didn't break the window? That to me seemed a little shady, but at least it was only $30, and not $200! I'm not sure if I would stay here again.

I would also try Hotwire. We've gotten fantastic deals on hotels in the DL area. For example:

Embassy Suites(south of the DLR on Harbor): Got this room for $89 a night! Amazing room! Service was wonderful, and parking was not an issue. Was right next to some restaurants, and had wonderful room service. Free breakfast that was incredible! I'd say besides the GCH and PPH, this was our nicest hotel experience at DL. We were with friends, who had their own room too, so it was nice to have a living room area to hang out in rather then sitting on a bed;) I would stay here again in a heartbeat, if I could afford it!

Good luck and have fun trip planning!

Howard Johnson right across from the park. Very nice hotel. Walking Distance to the park.

or

Embassy Suites South I think(big Red Building) very Nice. Free breakfast is really actually good. A little bit far away for the park then the Howard Johnson but worth the extra 15 minutes by car if you can get a good rate. Probably somewere around 100 dollars a night is average. :p

Hi! I just got back this evening from DL and can say without a doubt the room we had at the Ramada Inn Maingate was great. Good price and it was quiet too. The free continental breakfast was actually really ok. Three different types of muffins (not big but not small either), apple and/or cherry danish, a croissant, and orange juice/apple juice and on one day orange juice and/or guava juice. Plus coffee and a coupon on the back of the continental breakfast ticket type thing you get from the hotel for a buy one coffee later and get one for half price too. That was nice. It also has an outdoor pool. Connected to the hotel is a mini mart which has everything you could possibly want, I mean everything. From beer and wine to a single stamp machine. I forgot my deodorant and they had 4 different kinds, and that was for the men. The ladies section had anything and everything as far as I could tell lol. No having to walk down the street to 7-11. There is also a foodcourt with a pizza place, a chinese food place with American ice cream, a coffee shop and sightseeing tours, also all on site. Hang a right and you are 1 minute away from Denny's restaurant, 2 minutes away from I-Hop, and less than 5 minutes away from Disney's main entrance. The only thing that holds you up making it a 5 minute walking time to DL is the pedestrian crossing that takes 3 minutes to change lol. They have a future customer in me as I'll be staying there from now on. The price is right, cheaper than the surrounding hotels, if all you need is a place to sleep. The reason it is cheaper is the rooms have no fridge or microwave. We ate the free breakfast and ate at Denny's when we wanted an inexpensive, sit down, filling meal outside the park and ate at the Disneyland Plaza Inn (buffet style, to the right of the hub) in the park. So if you can live without a fridge or microwave then it's the same as any room at any hotel that charges more. Have a great time! We did and Ramada helped!

Yes, that is the Holiday Inn I was referring to--the one on Harbor Blvd. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to reply sooner!

If we dont stay on property we always stay at The Coast Anaheim Hotel. If you go to the website (either theirs or expedia.com) and look at the pictures it's a really nice afordable (keyword) hotel. We really like this place and we'll be back again and again!

i would suggest the hampton inn and suits because it isn't to far away from disneyland but they have a shuttle to take you there and it is cheaper to stay there instead of in the park or right beside the park

I have stayed at the Ramada Maingate a few times and have always liked it. It is pretty much no frills as far as the rooms go, but they are comfortable and you can't beat the price and location.

If not there, we stay at the Coast Anaheim. This place is very nice. The beds are very soft and the pool and hot tub area is large and clean.

We are headed back down in a couple weeks and are staying at the Crowne Plaza that is about 1/2 mile south on Harbor. I have wanted to stay there for a few years. I got a room for $65 a night through Hotwire for 5 nights.

Well, I'll second the Candy Cane Inn. We stayed there for spring break and it was a very sweet place. They had a great continental breakfast and they have their own shuttle that comes and goes every 30 minutes. The rooms are a bit on the small size, but the beds are nice and comfy, I liked the plantation shutters too. They have some nice landscaping, a pool, and a jacuzzi. We walked to DL in the morning and took the shuttle at night. The walk is quite short. There is a convenience store right next door too. I think I paid around $120 a night.

I also liked staying at the Howard Johnsons. The walk is about the same as CCI. The top rooms are very roomy and we had a DL view at night we could see the fireworks. No breakfast or shuttle though. The ART does service the HOJO. We got our room for $45 using the Entertainment book.

The Best Western Park Place Inn is another I've used. They are right across the street, however we had a room at the very back and found it a bit on the dark side. They also have a free Continental breakfast thats not as nice as the CCI one. They have a small pool which we never used and parking is very tight. But you can't beat the location. I paid about $75 a night there.
