Rockit Mtn to the best of my knowledge is still rumor - so this thread is being moved.

I think of Rockit Mtn kinda like the Tower of Terror - we have all heard the elevators were made to accept different programming - but no official comment as of yet. We keep hearing about Rockit (and the sign seems to have that lettering if they so choose) but no official announcements yet.

On the Disneyland 50th Anniversary cd, Theres music for Space Mountain and Rockit mountain.

The DLRnews.com site had "Rock It Mountain" hidden in the space mountain graphic, it could only be seen in programs such as photoshop. I'd say if an official DIsney graphic says it then iit has got to be true. The SM sign also fiber optics in the pattern of "Rock It," but "Space" is what's lit now. You can see the "Rock It" from the right angle. Seems like more than a rumor to me.

I remember seeing an interview with Michael Giacchino a few weeks ago and he mentioned that Rockit Mountain is still in planning stages and that if it does happen, it will most like sport a soundtrack composed by him, even though he has not been offically approached about the project from anyone at Disney. So, if it happens it will most likely by Michael Giacchino, one of the greatest composers around- not Green Day, one of the worst bands ever, that contributes the music.

on the 50th cd, the two space mountain soundtracks are the one used before they redid the attraction, and the one that is currently being used.

On the Disneyland 50th Anniversary cd, Theres music for Space Mountain and Rockit mountain.

Wrong. The only indication that there is something other than the current music for Space Mtn is the little notation "daytime version." There is no released RockIt Mountain soundtrack or anything of that nature.

If I can be blunt for a moment, and this isnt targeted towards anyone in particular (gotta get the disclaimer in). I'm getting really sick of people "claiming" to know things about stuff including RockIt Mountain. As RU42 has expressed and I have expressed and I'm sure others have, this is still a rumor. Some rumors carry more weight than others, but all the "I know for sure (insert half-brained rumor here) will 100% happen!" really needs to end. If you have something to report, please cite your source, so at least that helps as far as believeability goes. I would like to humbly suggest to the VF moderation staff that a guideline be created to require credible source citation when reporting a rumor. It just makes everyones lives easier. I would also urge follow members to educate themselves before making certain claims, that makes everyones lives eaiser and avoids much confusion. Please don't kill me for making these suggestions, I'm not trying to be a moderator or trying to do a mod's job for him. I go by what I see, that's all.

We do have some clues for RockIt Mountain but we can't let our imaginations create our facts. We have to wait for the facts before we start talking in certainties.

Well, at least we know it will exist in the future, because in the Official Space Mountain Thread, someone posted images of the Space Mountain sign, which clearly showed hidden letters spelling "RockIt". The only thing I'm excited/worried about is what will be different. Definitly the music, but how will the effects change. Will the loading station show a new movie (instaed of the orbiting planet one), will the speil be different? Will the colors in the first lift and hallway after that change?

More importantly, what will they do for the second lift and re-entry tunnels? There's one thing left. WHAT WILL THE ACTUAL MOUNTAIN (inside) LOOK LIKE!? The reason I have saved this question for last, is because I have an idea! The meteor might not be lit up during Space Mountain all the time because maybe it's not supposed to be. Also, in a link I posted a while ago, I saw pics of the metor lit up with BLACKLIGHTS! It's rainbow colored! Maybe during RockIt Mountain, the meteor will be blacklit.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS: Has anyone noticed that the star projectors are shaped like METEORS!? This may be just my imagination, so give me detailed evidence if I am wrong, but the star projectors look like meteors. Maybe during RockIt Mountain, they will be blacklit too! Which makes RockIt Mountain have that name for three reasons:
1. You fly around in rockets
2. You fly around in rockets with rock music
3. You fly around in rockets with rock music through a rock (astroid/meteor) field!

That would be AWESOME if there wer a bunch of spinning (the projectors spin) meteors surrounding you! I can't wait for RockIt Mountain to open!

We do NOT know there will be a Rockit Mtn ride in the future. All we KNOW is that the sign can be altered to read as Rocket Mtn. It is cheaper to cover your bases with one design now rather then tear it down and replace it later.

All also KNOW that general Rockit Mtn discussion have happened in the past.

As far as I am aware of there has been 0 official comments by Disney on anything regarding Rockit Mtn.

Be careful stating what you KNOW verses what you SUSPECT. There is a huge difference.

VF operates with the guideline - until Disney makes a specific statement all such discussions will be treated as rumors. Do I think there will be a Rockit Mtn in the future - probably. But until Disney makes a definitive statement all 'facts' must be treated like rumors.

i went to disneyland yesterday (aug. 25) and we asked a Space Mountain castmember and he and his frined working with him both said that Rockit Mountain is a complete myth, and to their knowledge there is no plan to go through with such a thing. when asked about the soundtrack listing, they said that ya they read that and now think that Rockit Mt. had been a possibility when the cd listing was printed, but now it is not a reality.

also the listing could just be wrong. they mixed up 2 tracks (#11 and #18) on the cd listing, so another flub could be possible

linklewtt
08-26-2005, 04:13 AM
also i encourage you to ask a castmember at Space Mt. they'll tell you what you need to know

RU42
08-26-2005, 10:02 AM
Not to say what they know is wrong, but Cast Members can be just as ignorant as the rest of us.

Example, sitting at the tram to go back to the garage, oh about a year ago, I heard a Cast Member discussing the new Space Mountain with a guest. He told the guest it would have a high speed launch like Cal Screamin and the new track would have a loop.

I have heard CMs say the Matterhorn has a basketball hoop so it could qualify as a sports venue and therefore could be built high.

Etc. I am sure there are many in here that can point out examples of CMs being honestly wrong. Please note, I am not putting down CMs - just pointing out the fact that they are not error-free.

The 2 you spoke with could be correct and they could be wrong. For them to say it was a complete myth is wrong - the signage seems to indicate that RM was at least a concept at one time. Whether we will ever see anything from beyond that is...well..rumor.

I have this theory of what Rockit Mountain will be like, I feel that the only thing will change is the sign, onboard music and some other effects they have yet to reveal to us, oh theory about the music, I think its going to be the old soundtrack to the ride by Dick Dale, its what I think about the onboard music, pretty good theory huh? ;)

RU42
08-26-2005, 12:38 PM
I would agree with your guess. If RM comes to life there really isn't all that much they can do. I wouldn't expect them to reuse Dale's soundtrack - my guess is something new woudl be used.

A think a laser light show on the inside would be cool. Get some projectors going and add some effects to the show. Could be fun.

RU

linklewtt
08-26-2005, 02:21 PM
well let's say that RM does happen, why wouldn't they use the old Space Mountian music? it's really popular and good, and this theory supports the cd listing. The new music would be the daytime track and the old would be the nighttime track. that would actually be not that bad...and then we'd get our answer to why they put "daytime" next to the new SM music on the cd listing. maybe they assumed we would think the old SM music would be the night music, so they felt no need to label it as "nighttime". i dunno, the cd listing is throwing me way off cuz it doesn't make sense why they would label a daytime track and not a nighttime, right?

I'm expecting some sort of air rush in the first lift room...I say this because there's a big long black rectangle full of air holes like a shufflepuck table that hangs from the ceiling right over your head. It's all i'm every looking at in that room and it's not used for anything, not speakers, not anything. Based on the pictures from inside when it's lit up, those light rigs seem like obvious parts of something and so does the color they painted the big asteroid.

Logically, it makes complete sense; to have two attractions in one. I mean, if all they have to do is change the soundtrack and some lighting fx and they get a brand new attraction, it seems to be a no-brainer.

^^they are 2 completely different things man. Rocket Rods just has no hope of coming back because there is no room for it and it was defunctional. ok maybe a new ride will come back, bit it won't be rocket rods, at least the RR we knew. I admit that Rockit Mountain DOES have a possibility of coming, so therefore it is a rumor. But it will be a rumor until it is announced offcially. Doesn't that make sense? Everything's a rumor until it is announced by Disneyland, except for like impossibilities like the old RR coming back.

And Hyperion 77, just cuz you are so bent on Rockit Mt. becoming a reality doesn't mean that you have to doubt me. Yes, I did talk to a CM at SM and yes he said that it was just a rumor. Suck it up and stop crying just cuz not everyone has your hopeful opinion about Rockit Mt. I didn't discredit you, so you shouldn't discredit me.

Like I answered you in the Rocket Rods topic... eh, forget it I'll just quote myself:

Odd as it may seem, it is solid fact. My thing with Rock It Mountain rumors have been that people have been coming up with a bunch of stuff about RockIt Mountain when the only concrete stuff we have about it is a sign that appears to be changeable. People are making their own conjecture and other readers misinterpret it as fact.

I tell you Rocket Rods is not coming back because, as I have said many times, the ride's design itself was fundamentally flawed. It was removed permanently because the track literally would have collapsed with riders on it if it had been allowed to keep running. How 'bout those headlines eh? The track was fracturing under the stress the cars were imposing on it. For that reason, it simply can't exist on the current track ever again. Therefore you will never see it again as long as that track that's there still stands. Maybe I'm wrong here but I'm callin' it like I see it.

-- Peoplemover "Where the opinions are always backed up  " Matt

Everyone please to try to keep known fact seperate from vague rumors. It is known fact that RockIt Mountain stuff is in place and it's mostly just waiting to have the so-called switch thrown. If you really doubt this I can show you the guy I know this from and all his qualifications that make him a trustworthy source of info. For now, let's just say he has double-digit years of experience in the business. An example of a vague rumor would be like what the soundtrack is going to be, or what exactly the effects will be. Those who know are being rather tight-lipped about this, unfortunately.

^ Well, he's trying to say that we can know at least something is coming before Disneyland officially gets up and says it's coming. Just like it was pretty much a known fact that the Subs were going to become Nemo-ized before that official announcement was made. It's also pretty much a known fact that Magic Mtn's new coaster will be a B&M Flyer. We can tell from the track that is arriving for it. The details, name, exact specs, will come with the official announcement. Similar will take place for RockIt Mountain, and that's what I was trying to say before. Hopefully it's a mite clearer now.

^^that's true what you said about making very good educated guesses based on the appearance of tracks or in the sub case the construction wall, but I don't see that kind of evidence with RM. yes i know the sign looks like it can change, and it probably can, but maybe that's just a cool effect they wanna have ya know, similar to the POTC changing letters effect or the ToT effect. I know you all may have proof or what you think is proof, but i just choose to wait and be patient until Disneyland announces it officially. Then for sure i'll know.

its a rollercoaster where you lay down on your stumach and it holds you so its like your flying. if you search it on RCDB(rollercoaster data base) it can show you pictures.

Well for the second lift, it'd be easy to change due to the fact that they use computer screens to show the animations in the lift; The reentry tunnel I don't know, but it could easily have other lights on the side since there are just maybe a couple hundred lights coming towards you. Now what you said about the star projectors, I thought the same thing, I just didn't know what they were. So yeah I could see the trains passing through asteroid fields; However, we must ask people that have previewed Rockit Mountain, you know when the computer messes up and shows Rockit Mountain effects, just not all of them.
