Make sure you have a good view down Main Street to see the lights turn on. It's quite a beautiful sight to see with the Christmas tree.

Where is the best place to sit for the parade? What about DCA, any tips? We were last there March of 2004 (see my siggie). I'm hoping my youngest will be 40" so we can ride things as a family. I love splash mountain, but last time had to do the single rider thing. Now that the logs seat 5, is there any chance they'd let the 6 of us ride together? I heard the back seat was too weighed down so they aren't putting two there anymore...
I need all the tips/insight I can get! Any other sites you might recommend? Thanks all!

Ok when I went to DL back in late April, the CM's werent seating anyone in the last back seat of the logs on Splash Mountain. Then when I went in June, they began to seat people in the very back again. So I dont know exactly what the situation is, or how they are seating people currently. Im not sure if they will let 2 sit in the back anymore, but im pretty sure I did see people sitting like that. As for parade seating, I would sit anywhere on main Street, but close to the castle because right after the parade (if I remeber correctly :p) the snow begins to fall and its just breathtaking in front of the castle! As for DCA, im not to sure, I havent really seen it at christmas time. The Christmas trees in DL are amazing, and Definatly be sure to ride the Haunted Mansion Holiday, and IASW, because it is soo pretty during christmas! As for other sites, im not to sure. You could always check out Disneyland.com (Main Page) for any special events occuring during you visit to the DLR such as the parade times, and any other special events. I know the caroling is beautiful, but I cant remeber if they have done that in recent years. But anyways, spending christmas time in Disneyland is beautiful, just enjoy your stay take your time, dont rush your days, and I think it tends to run a little smother during that time of the year at disneyland for me. Thats what I can suggest, and hopefully that will help you!

For the parades... you may want to be near IASW when they are going to turn the lights on. Usually thats around 4:30-5ish. It's so fun doing the countdown and seeing the lights turn on. Then you can sit and watch the parade from there.

I know you can get special birthday packages--complete with a souvenier container that includes a little cake. I think they're $20. I would ask at City Hall and they can give you more info.

You are going to have a blast. It is by far our favorite time to visit. There were warm winds the this past year. So much so it was actually warmer two of the evenings than the evening we were there this June.

Word of warning, be prepared for crowds at the end of the week.

We normally go two weeks before Christmas. This past year we went the week prior to Christmas. We went Monday-Friday Dec 13th-17th. Early in the week the crowds seemed a little heavier that we normally have. But still very nice. On the Friday the crowds were out of control. We had gone to DCA for the Electric Light Parade (park was practically empty) and went back to Disneyland to try and see Fantasmic. It was the first night that Fantasmic was back after being dark. We were met by a sea of people. The crowd was so bad that all of a sudden the big doors on the right of town square opened up and CM guided us backstage to tomorrowland. We had never experienced anything like that before (It was mentioned on mouseplanet or miceage so I know it was a little out of the norm).

Have fun and soak up the holiday sights.

merijenben was just asking about birthday parties, so I'll tell you what I told her. The Plaza Inn at the end of Main Street does a great party for kids. We were there last November and my youngest turned 7, she loved it. It only cost $10.00 per person at that time, and with that you get to decorate a small mickey cake, sing with Mr. Pat-E-Cake( he's a hoot!) and have your picture taken with a character or characters. Mickey and Minnie were there for ours. The kids wear party hats and they get to eat their cake and have punch, it's alot of fun. It only lasts about 30-45 minutes and you can make reservations that morning. The party was around 1:00. Hope this helps, have a wonderful time at Disneyland!!

Also, make sure the kids get their birthday stickers either at the front gate or City Hall. They'll get special attention all day from CMs. I was there for my birthday and it was great!!! I had people singing to me all day.:icon_lol:

make sure to eat churros...lots of churros. and then eat some more. eat everywhere. my favorite thing about disneyland is the food....so eat up!

plus......nothing is better than eating churros and sipping hot chocolate, while watching the parade next to the matterhorn. for some reason, the matterhorn behind me makes me feel extra chrismasy, maybe its because is covered with SNOW!

which is bizarre because ive never had a white christmas. hmm..

Try the cookie decorating right outside of the fire station on Main St. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. While we were decorating the double decker bus came along with Goofy, Mickey, Donald, and Pluto. Those cookies are so yummy, we ate them and enjoyed the people watching and the beautiful Christmas tree.

For birthdays you can go to City Hall and tell them and they will give you a birthday sticker and get a special birthday greeting on the phone. All the CM's tell you happy birthday and you just feel extra special. Sometimes you get extra goodies too, while at Goofy's Kitchen for lunch, I got a pretty big chocolate cake with candles and the characters came to our table to sing to me. I've heard you get a packet of tortillas at the Mission Tortilla place at DCA.
Have a great time.
