After seeing the Disneyland 50 Magical Years show this week, I asked a cast member if it would be kept beyond the time (16 months, I think) originally scheduled and the cast member told me it was being considered. Anyone know any further info?

Well, ive only seen the Moments with Lincoln once, didnt really like it, it was just a thing to do to get away from the bad crowds, I would want the Disney show to be there always, the film made me cry for goshsakes.:icon_cry:

Hi! First post, but I wanted to chime in on this topic.

I've got to say I really like Lincoln. The presentation gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. It's nice to see such a patriotic display at Disneyland.

However, I also must say that I haven't seen the 50 Magical Years show.

As much as I love Walt and Disneyland, I hope they bring back Lincoln. The show was a very patriotic show and a well made one at that. And bring back Walt's offices as well. I like the 50th show with Steve Martin, but it doen't compare to GMWML.

Why not have both ?
They could schedule them different times througout the day.
They'd surely have to make some technical changes so they
could have the movie screen down for Magical show and up
with ol' Lincoln in view for his time.

Here's my take on this: I enjoyed the 50th show with Steve Martin & Donald Duck, but I think it's place is with the 50th anniversary. While the 50th is going on, that show deserves to play. When the 50th is over & it becomes something we'll all store in our memorabilia cases & treasured memories, Disney needs to release a take-home version of it so it can be placed there alongside our memories of the 50th.

When there's no more 50th & the aura of nostalgia has passed, then bring back Walt's tribute to Mr. Lincoln. Hopefully they bring back the old show though & not "Road to Gettysburgh" which has less to do w/ Lincoln & more to do w/ someone's anti-war angle.

I really think that they should keep the 50th show. I like it a lot better than the Lincoln show. They could always put in a patriotic thing some where else...but let us remember, this is DL, not the washington monument. Its not supposed to be patriot central.

steve martin was funny in there, and there was some rare footage in the film

steve martin: "i stared at the magic shop here on main street and was a master magician, is that why they call it the magic kingdom, quincidence, i dont think so" something like that make me laugh

PeoplemoverMatt is right. This should remain a 50th exclusive, something that we'll cherish now and have as another one of our special 50th anniversary memories later. I think it is supposed to be part of the 50th DVD anyway (which seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.) Besides, I really miss that replica of Walt's office!

Yea. If they continue the 50th exibit AFTER the 50th, it kinda takes away the specialness, that they have created that WHOLE thing, just for the 50th.

yea i agree. they should take the 50 Magical Years show to DVD once the anniversary is over. and it IS disneyland so anything is possible INCLUDING PATRIOTIC CENTRAL

Having a tribute to Mr. Lincoln makes Disneyland far from any "Patriotic Central."

I really like how they did the audio in GMWML, except for the new voice of Lincoln. I liked the old one better.

I continue to think that the 50th stuff should stay...I never liked the whole lincoln display. I feel that they shouldn'e keep the 50th thing up forever...but for a while after the 50th. It's wrong to not show the stuff as long as you can. I mean, we have had the lincoln thing forever...savor the 50th before the normal gets put back in. Because I have no doubt that it will.

I wish they'd leave the 50th stuff up forever, too, especially the fireworks (I know, the dough!) But the 50th will get old over time. Maybe they could work or are working on a new Lincoln, even though the new one wasn't that old. That haircut seen was sooooo cool with headphones!

Truly, Mr Lincoln should come back. I really did like the new film in there, but its time is now. Mr Lincoln ( before the road to Gettysburg) is one of my more cherished memories. As much as Steve Martin made me laugh, Mr Lincoln reminds me (especially in his original speech) what a wonderful country we live in.

When we were at Disneyland in August 2004, we went in and watched Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. While we were in the lobby waiting, I talked to a CM there and asked her about the rumor about it leaving permanently. She told me that they were keeping track of the numbers and a decision would be made on whether or not to return the Mr. Lincoln exhibit (after the 50th was over) based on those numbers. I asked her how it was looking so far and she replied, "Not so good." I looked around the auditorium after we were seated and the doors were closed and there were maybe 20 of us in there. The sad thing is, the CM's that work there feel passionately about the Lincoln exhibit--they're more historians than theme park workers. When we went to see the 50th exhibit this past June, I was talking to a CM who was working there and she told me they were so sad when they closed the Mr. Lincoln exhibit. She said they even had a goodbye party for him and said, "They BETTER bring it back." She was all choked up about it =(

Can you imagine that it's 2010 & the first 50 years exhibit is still there? That just doesn't seem right to me. Leave the 50th movie in the 50th celebration.

Well, since Walt was a great fan of President Lincoln and since most of Disneyland is in the USA, oh is Adventureland in it? Disneyland's main street is a very good reminder of where we are in the usa and i think lincoln should stay with alot of revisation. after all they have holograms in the lincoln memorial, why not here too?

I vote,...Lincon,Why have a 50th show when its not the 50th year any more?I do like the Lincon because I always thought main street is kinda patriotic looking.
They should keep the fireworks though.

I think they should have made Lincoln look like Disney and included him in the show. How cool would it have been to see an animitronic Walt give the dedication speech?
Maybe it would have been too creepy, but I think it would have been cool.

thats tough because i liked the exhibit but i loved mr lincoln w/ the headsets and the haircut lol. i have to share a story. we went on mr lincoln like 3 yrs and this little kid said, "look mom, it really cut my hair!! I really had hair on my shirt!!" and it was pretty funny.

I'm really hoping that they bring back the original one from 1964/65 Worlds Fair with remastered/enhanced audio as well as the slide presentation. That way those of us who weren't born then can have an opportunity to see the attraction the way Walt originally envisioned it.

I think a new show with an audioanimatronic Walt would rock.

I never liked the Lincoln show. Never drew me back in. Loved the 50th show--really great, fun to watch, would watch it again. But I agree that it would be out of context to try and run it after the 50th. It would age FAST. But something new in there would be great.

In the current exhibit, I love all the Disneyland history stuff. All the memorabilia and whatnot. Walt's office would fit right back in.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln THE ORIGINAL needs to return. The new version of Lincoln's show, in my opinion sucks when compared to the original. Bring back the original show.....not some show about a soldier going off to fight the Civil War.
I do agree that they need to release the Steve Martin Show on DVD after the celebration is over!
