Yes Jbuck, that is the correct size limitations. It should not be over 400 by 150 and less then 64k. That is a very nice template.

Also, signatures should not be more then 6 lines of text. Yes, spaces between lines count.

This is what I mean:

Text

That would be 3 lines.

That would be 5 lines. (those space lines count as a line)

Side note: if you have a full size picture (400 by 150) then as a courtesy you shouldn't have more then 3 lines of text.

The point is...people shouldn't have to do an excess of scrolling just to see the next post.

We have not begun to crack down on signatures that do not meet the guidelines but lately I have been seeing a lot of people pushing the limits. A crack down is imminent.

For all VF guidelines see this thread:

LOL - anticipating a riot are we? I don't mind the pictures, gives people another creativity avenue. I just mind it when they are out of control.

(psst, not to be the spelling police but it is allowed not aloud)

I know you might not want this option because of those that have text in their signatures, but in your User preferences there is an option to not display people's signatures when looking through threads and posts.

It would take some quick creative coding on the admin's part, but there should be a way they could also put an option for whether or not to display images in signatures. Several ways that could be done.

I even made a signature picture just for the occasion when I got slammed for my sig pic ;) (funny enough, when I made it I put the size limit in and then realized I needed to get down for the 64kb limit and had to take out all of my animation heh :()

There are a couple of options, you can disable images posted with the IMG tag and this would apply to signature images (inline 'attachment' images wouldn't be affected), and of course, just disabling signatures altogether.

We have already contacted SEVERAL people about their signatures and if your signature pushes the limits of size or number of lines (there are several of you doing this) we will be contacting you and letting you know that your signature violates guidelines.
