Okay, if you were to pick any extinct attraction that was formerly at Disneyland and bring it back to it's old former glory (or an updated version) what would it be and why?

Inner space,

You're signature is kind of scary, stitchhead. o.o

I would say the subs, and hallelujah it's come true. I can't wait for those Nemo Subs!

I actually liked Rocket Rods too. (though I never went on the PeopleMover so I had no emotional attachments or anything.) We always used Single Rider so the wait was like five minutes each time.

I'd like to see returned to the park some of Walt's original attractions that people born in the late 60's (like myself) or beyond never got a chance to see. For example: Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland (I love trains),
Stage Coach Rides, and yes, The People Mover (so you can sit down and relax for a little while) along with Sky Way (to get to the other side of the park faster!). I also liked Inner Space....specially seeing the tiny riders inside the microscope while waiting in line! I also liked Mission to Mars. It was pretty cool when I was a kid!

I actually like Winnie the Pooh.. I had no idea what was going on in the ride though - it didn't make much sense, but it was enjoyable anyways. If they put CBJ back, it should replace Golden Dreams (never seen it, and I never saw anyone seeing it when I was there) because that area has the whole bear thing going on and DCA needs some more things badly..

You may or may not agree with this,

I think they should bring the Swiss Family treehouse back to replace the tarzan treehouse. I didn't care too much for the tarzan walkthrough.

I also think that the Main Street Electrical Parade should come back

I loved the Swiss Family treehouse.. I doubt little kids would even know what Swiss Family Robinson is though, but at the same time I don't think they know who Tom Sawyer is or what that book is about..
Albeit (I hate that word), I like the cheatah/leopard thing in the Tarzan treehouse; I always forget that it roars, and it makes me jump.

The MSEP is in DCA, isn't it? I'm glad it's there or else NO ONE would be there at night. o.o

I never got to go on Monsanto's Adventure Through Inner Space, so I would love to see it return. However, my definite choices would be the PeopleMover and the Skyway. I almost cried when they took out the PeopleMover... I may wear all black, but I have feelings too, you know! ;)

When I was little (if you can ever believe I was little) I used to love the Skyway. It was my favorite ride because it went right through the Matterhorn and you were always so high above everyone else... it was like you were invincible. I got such a great feeling every time I rode that thing...

~PrincessAriel~
08-15-2005, 03:36 PM
SKYWAY: That ride was way awesome! I'm dead afraid of heights but that's what would make it intense. I use to ride it as a kid but I wasn't afraid then. Dunno:confused:

THE ROCKET RODS: I only got to ride it once in 1999 during Dusk and it was an AMAZING experience! I just make sure I ride The Matterhorn during dusk now

I think they should bring back the skyway, but instead of the way the buckets were, have them designed more like a Ninja style car suspended from a track and not cables with harnesses to hold you in. I'm not saying have it a fast ride, just the cars designed so you can't hop out at anytime. The only issue still being would be throwing things overboard.

I'm an old geezer, so I'm going to take some liberty with the question and say I'd bring back the entire 1968 Tomorrowland. It was such a well-integrated design, where you could have a great time, just sitting, doing nothing, just by keeping your eyes open. I think the '68 "World on the Move" should have been declared a National Monument and made open to the public, free of charge, 24/7. Get it?

I also think it would be great to see the return of the Skyway. I remember when I was too little to go on the Matterhorn, I thought it was pretty cool to be able to see inside the mountain from the Skyway.

Although I know all the critters are now more than happy living it up in Splash Mt, I also have to say America Sings because I never got to experience that and it sounds like my kind of thing.

I would have to say People Mover and Skyway. They were relaxing. The People Mover's line was short since it the cars the never stopped and the people were able to enter the cars at a good, steady flow. It's funny. When these attractions were around, you got to pass through 3 mountains at Disneyland. People Mover showed you the inside of Space Mountain, Skyway showed you the insided of Matterhorn, and the Disneyland Railroad still shows you the Zip a dee doo dah scene from Splash Mountain.

Word has it that the rocket rods were to destructive to the track, because of all of the hard breaking. I would love to see the people mover come back, but they would be using the same tracks and it is a question of whether or not the track is in good condition.
I wouldn't mind having the sky way back either.

To tell you the truth, I would bring back Rocket Rods. I do like the Peoplemover, but, somehow, I would prefer the ride that soars through popular rides in Tommorowland fast. Also, I would like to return Submarine Voyage. I don't know what's going to be like with Finding Nemo in it. I don't know if the ride will be like the origional with an Finding Nemo addition, or the whole ride will be about Finding Nemo. Could someone send me a private message about that? I would like to know. So far as I could think of right now, those two rides I would like to bring back to Disneyland.

No room for a slow ride? Of course there is. Rocket Rods was a financial blunder. Not going to mention the engineering part of it either. Bringing it back would just be stupid. They would probably have to rebuild the track for anything fast. I think they should have another slow ride up there. Or make it a walk thru thing.

PeoplemoverMatt
12-08-2005, 11:48 PM
They might have to rebuild the track for anything. I also don't follow the logic that post-Rocket Rods there's no room for a slow(er) ride. Peoplemover wasn't exactly Heimlech's Chew Chew Train, it hit a pretty good clip on some places. There's plenty to see in Tomorrowland, a ride giving you a tour of it all would not at all be a bad idea. What about dear Aunt Sally who would love seeing Space Mountain but can't because of she can't take long waits or roller coasters? What about little Timmy who isn't tall enough to ride anything yet but would love having an up-close encounter with the Monorail? What about the family who just needs to get off their tired feet for a few and can enjoy some great sites together as a family in 1 car while they're at it? Peoplemover gave so much and asked so little, one of the reasons why its senseless and pointless death was so sad.

What we're going to have to watch is what they do with the portion of track that runs parallel to the Monorail track when the Monorail station is demolished and rebuilt. That should prove interesting.

I'd say update Rocket Rods so it won't be such an engineering problem. Since Buzz is where the old queue used to be, I'd start the line in the Innoventions building as the transportation section. Then there would be a new walkway leading from Innoventions to the Rocket Rods station. One of the upgrades would be to get rid of that crazy height limit. What kid has never ridden in a car with a seatbelt? My little brother never got to do Rocket Rods before it met it's end.:icon_cry: Then everyone who wanted to could do it, and it would provide an enjoyable, quick ride. Maybe they could change it to be like the cars in Logan's Run.:icon_lol: Or they should just put the Peoplemover back (but could it be a bit faster?)

Innerspace and Peoplemover and I'm not sure about the order, it's a toss up. At least when they took out Innerspace they replaced it with something so that's one redeeming quality. *stops Rods vs Peoplemover debate before it begins*

Both sides have made their cases in the past. There isn't much new to say about this issue. In all honesty, the only real thing I see happening is either the return of Peoplemover, or some sort of hybrid w/ the Rods so the outdoor part beyond Innoventions over Autopia is more high-speed while saving the indoor parts for the slow ride browsing. I wouldn't mind that at all.

To take it to a whole different land, I think they should bring back Big Thunder BBQ. Mundane, I know, but Frontierland (being my childhood favorite) will soon become extinct if things continue the way they might (I'm talking Toy Story concept with Woody and friends). It used to be that you could walk around the Big Thunder area and really believe that you were in the 1840s near a gold mine. Now I just experience theming schizophrenia and I can't decide whether I'm still in Fantasyland or New Orleans square. It's the little things like BT-BBQ that made frontierland what it was.

And put something back on the Peoplmover tracks. You know you want to.

Since the first time I went to Disneyland was three years ago nothing I've ridden has ever been changed. I know I will miss the origional Pirates if they change it though

I would bring back the PeopleMover! It was (with out a dought) the best extinct Disneyland attraction in my opinion. It was great, the relaxing journey through all the Tomorrowland rides. And (do I have to say it?) styilish vehicals.

what would you even do in peoplemover. i have always wanted to know that.

You'd not wait in line for it 90% of the time, then you'd be able to sit down and take a overhead tour of Tomorrowland. Peoplemover went through Star Tours, Star Trader, Space Mountain, Tron (2nd floor Innoventions), above Autopia, right next to the Monorail in its station, Circle-Vision queue (now BLAB queue), and around back to the Peoplemover station in the heart of Tomorrowland. It was a great 10 minute break from all the hustle & bustle, crowds, heat, sun, and gave riders a chance to really take in their surroundings.

I'd Say People Mover And America Sings.

People Mover Is A Great Relaxation Ride, Plus Seeing All That Scenery On The Trip Was VERY Nice.

America Sings Was A Great Show For The Time, Always Had A Blast On Both Of Those.

Innnerspace Was Ok, I Wouldnt Mind Seeing It Come Back, Although Star Tours Is Somewhat Entertaining.

I Remember Alot Of Those Rides As If I Was On Em Yesterday, Seeing The Telescope In Innerspace, Watching The Tiny People Flow Through It :)

I'm with the Peoplemover crowd here. The Tomorrowland Transportation Authority was one of the best parts of the Magic Kingdom in WDW. It was nice to get above Tomorrowland and relax again!

I would love to see an updated version of Adventures thru Innerspace. I barely remember riding it at all, the only thing I clearly remembered was being frightened of the giant eye!

Not to mention that the circle visions cueue was a show in itself. I vaguely remember that they had a demonstration on how telephone technology works. It was sponsored by AT & Thttp://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/1880-1977-082.jpg

lol. i actually really like rocket rods, though i remember the peoplemover as well. I don't care which one they (hopefully) bring back as long as they use those tracks. It seems so empty without anything on them. :]

One wish of mine is coming true: the return of the subs. I would also like for the Skyway and the Country Bears to return as well as Paul Free's work for Pirates of the Caribbean.

I would bring back the Monorail cafe or a wing of two-story garden Suites at the Disneyland Hotel.
