View Full Version : New Tomorrowland?

I've already posted this on Mice Chat, but I was curious as to what you thought of my ideas for a new Tomorrowland at Disneyland, here's my idea:
- Innoventions will be replaced with Mission: Space (either in a new building or possibly using the old CoP/ Innoventions building- if possible)
- At night, Space Mountain will turn into Rockit Mountain (maybe only during peek season)
- Astro Orbiter will be moved to the former Rocket Jets sight (above the Peoplemover loading area)
- The Peoplemover will return, using the same track used for Rocket Rods and the old Peoplemover
- A new 3D film based on the film Tron (since a remake is in the works) will replace Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
- The Starcade will be replaced by a restrurant based on the Cantina from the original Star Wars (which I know was a bar in the movie, but the themeing could be used for a restrurant)
- Star Tours will undergo a major overhaul that will include a new flight destination and elements from the 3 Star Wars prequels
- Skyway to Fantasyland will return using the same route as the old Skyway (if possible)
So, what do you think? And feel free to post your ideas for a new Tomorrowland.

Thats very great ideas, but I thought this was a rumor for a newer better tomorrowland that was annouced somewhere T_T , it would be nice to see something new at disneyland thats not based on a movie.

Hey Mr. Incredible,
First off, welcome to the boards!!!
Second you might want to try posting this thread in the "So, you want to be an Imagineer?" forum since what you are posting are more or less your ideas for a better Tommorrowland, and not rumors that you have heard. Hopefully the mods will be along soon to do their thing ;).

That all sounds good, although I would vote for Test Track instead of Mission Space if we are going to steal from WDW. MS is a very tough ride. I can handle almost any ride and that one had an affect on me. For fun I sat outside of the exit for a while to try to see the reaction from riders. only about 1 out of 10 people had any hint of a smile on their face coming off that ride. Most people were green and I saw about 15 people try to give away their Fast Passes as they exited. Don't get my wrong, I had a great time on that ride but once was plenty.
I would prefer the creation of a totally new ride where Innoventions is but I don't have any ideas. Plus, I think there is a thread out there for that.

I would also like to see Test Track in California, but I don't think that there is any room at Disneyland and if it ever went into the Anaheim resort, it would have to go into DCA. Also, I feel that Test Track may be too similar to Autopia for them to be side by side (even though I know Test Track is much more high speed and roller coaster like). So that's why I didn't put it into my proposal. But I feel Mission: Space would work in the Innoventions building, if not an exact copy of Mission: Space, then how about a new ride that uses the same technology as Mission: Space?

I really really don't see the concern over pixar based attractions, unless you're against movie-based attractions in general. The pixar movies are Disney movies. A lot of people are upset about the 2 splitting and hope Iger can get pixar back, yet are still against pixar in the park and it seems odd to me.

- Innoventions will be replaced with Mission: Space (either in a new building or possibly using the old CoP/ Innoventions building- if possible)
I say nay. Innoventions is an attraction dedicated to discovery and technology althought the WDW version is much better. I don't like Mission:Space. It is a mindless attraction that requires no concepts of thinking.
- At night, Space Mountain will turn into Rockit Mountain (maybe only during peek season)
I like it. This would attract more visitors, resulting in a greater profit for Disney.
- Astro Orbiter will be moved to the former Rocket Jets sight (above the Peoplemover loading area)
I think this would be interesting. It would make the attraction have a feel as if you were actually flying since you would be higher up.
- The Peoplemover will return, using the same track used for Rocket Rods and the old Peoplemover
This would cost too much. The majority of visitors to DLR do not appreciate old attraction like most VF people. Why does it matter if the corporation brings back old attractions. They are more interested in gaining more profits which is of higher importance.
- A new 3D film based on the film Tron (since a remake is in the works) will replace Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
Not many people know about Tron. I think they could use a better concept.
- The Starcade will be replaced by a restrurant based on the Cantina from the original Star Wars (which I know was a bar in the movie, but the themeing could be used for a restrurant)
I like this idea, but Disney should not use Star Wars too much as they may want to sell the rights some day. It is a waste of money.
- Star Tours will undergo a major overhaul that will include a new flight destination and elements from the 3 Star Wars prequels.
I like it, but read the above idea.
- Skyway to Fantasyland will return using the same route as the old Skyway (if possible)
One word... lawsuits. At Magic Mountain, a married couple on their honeymoon rocked their skyway car and plunged to their deaths. The same could happen at DLR or WDW which is why they were closed. Why should the corporation lose money.
I know. I do sound like Eisner, but I think he helped the corporation.

Okay, No Skyway, My proposal will stay as it was posted at the beginning of this thread, except there will be no Skyway to Fantasyland. I only had it in there to balance out the high intensity rides like Mission: Space with something more easy going. But I can see why the Skyway may seem like a bad idea so goodbye Skyway.
Not only is the threat of lawsuit real, but they will have to reopen the holes in the Matterhorn that they closed off. That would cost way too much money. But here are some of my ideas:
1) Tear out the starcade, Pizza Port, and HISTA, and add a Tron Light Cycle ride in that area.
2) Listen to Lucas and change the Star Tours movie.
3) Make the Autopias just a tad faster.
4) Peoplemover definitely but upgrade to a maglev style. Then again do the same with the Monorail.
5) For the innoventions building, add a space walk simulator using the tech found in the Nike commercial which featured Michael Vick. You get strapped into a space suit (the arm of the vehicle dressed up like a space suit) and get to space walk around a space station (of course you would need several stations for this for capacity).
That is all for now.
First post, YAY!!!

I personally DONT care for the Skyway. Thats backtracking TOO far. It was obtrusive, ugly, poked a stupid hole in the Matterhorn, and didn't fit in with a Tomorrow theme OR a Fantasy theme.
I also dont care for cloning Mission: Space.
However, for the most part, your idea's ok. I personally LOVE the idea of the Cantina!
(BTW...shouldnt this be in the Imagineer thread, and not the rumor thread?)

They also closed Skyway because and never are bringing it back cuz the Matterhorn mainly the giant hole...Like they'll cut it back again....They also closed for possible deaths and people were spitting on other people......

Okay, now if they did bring back the Peoplemover, would you rather see it brought back to it's former glory (including the super speed tunnel) or upgraded like the one in Florida and/or with better special effects when going into buildings?

Yes, the track is still there, but currently there is nothing on it. I really don't know the real reason they closed the Peoplemover (other than it constantly breaking down) and I think they closed Rocket Rods because it kept breaking down. Although I do remember reports of some people getting crushed to death on the Peoplemover.

I heard this story before, in one of the haunted places index in shadowlands. It did happened.
There's a remake of TRON in the works????:icon_excl I love TRON!!!! Anyhoo. I was thinking about this for some time. What if Disney brought back some of the old rides that were taken out. Adventur thru Innerspace is one I really miss. There has to be room somewhere in Tomorrowland. Why not even put some rides underground utilizing the area underneath.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but in my opinion, ANYTHING is better than Innoventions. Ever since it opened, the only exhibit I found really interesting was that car of the future from GM. I don't care what it's replaced by. Whether it is Mission: Space, a Tron ride, or even Alien Encounter or Stitches Great Escape.

I think there could some more room in Tomorrwland, maybe take out the 3D theatre and the maintance area in behind the buildings of Tomorrowland and put stuff like Inner Space and other attractions in there.

^ The 3D theatre is basically paralyzed as-is right now without creating some major chaos for Space Mountain's entrance & exit. Some people still actually get some enjoyment out of Honey, I Shrunk the Audience & there's really nothing questionable about it in the show making it great for the kids to see. Say what you want about this show, the amount of things that are clean for the kids to see are rapidly decreasing in the world, so at least they can see that.

I agree, HISTA is great for all ages, but I have felt that it has become dated and needs replacement. Even though I know my idea of a Tron show is also dated, there are many fans and as I've mentioned several times, there is a remake in the very early stages of pre- production (I think all they've done is hired a writer and that's it so far) but Tron could be updated to fit into a new Tomorrowland setting and would make a great 3D show.
Also, if there are any mods reading this thread, could they possibly move this thread to the imagineering board. Thanks in advance!

I've said it before and say it again. I have dropped Sky Way from my propsal, so there will be no track since it's no longer in my proposal. Sorry if you were looking forward to Sky Way's return, but it's not happening.
