The Disneyland Cast Members have always been a nice bunch. On the trip that I just got back from, I have a great story to tell about those hard working CMs. So, me and my brother had just gotten off our last ride of the night, Indiana Jones. My brother didn't believe that there was a hidden Eeyore sign in the projector room. I had never seen it either so I didn't know how to point it out to him.
As we were walking through the exit, I asked a CM if the sign truly exsisted. By this time, the park was closed, but she let us get back in line to see Eeyore and have another ride. Not only was it the one CM, but all of the CMs working in the queue had now joined us. They got a flashlight and showed it to us. It was really fun. When we got on again, we were the very last people and got a whole Jeep to ourselves. That was an experience that I'll never forget.
Anyway, what's the best experience you've ever had with a DLR CM?

You really had nice Indy CMs, You guys really got your own jeep and there is no one in the quene and the station only CMs right? What a great CM experience you have at DLR.

DL CM's are great, so helpful and nice. I had a nice CM at Indy also, he was an older fella and we talked with him for about an hour in the mornin. we were the first ones in line for the day on indy and the ride was not yet running but he sayd it would open shortly so we waited, we had a bunch of days so 30 mins didnt seem like a lot. we just chatted and he told us stories and it was a good time.

^That is SO cool!!! You should write an email to the DLR about how wonderful these CM's treated you! I always do that, to make sure they get some recognition!
Lets see, on my birthday in March of this year, we had a wonderful CM on the tram form the M&F parking structure. His name was Derrick! He was so great! He did not play the recorded speil, he did his own. He could do fantastic voices, and was really funny! He had the whole tram laughing. It was a great way to start the morning at the happiest place on earth! Plus, we were sitting a couple of rows ahead of him and he asked if anyone was celebrating a birthday today. A couple of us raised our hands, and he sang us all Happy Birthday!
Nicolas at Ariels Grotto was another fantastic CM I have encountered! He has a wacky sense of humor! He was kinda having a bad day. He was teasing us and made fun of my friend for having a Giants shirt on. He made fun of me for feeding the ducks.....I didn't see the sign DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS!:icon_redf Opps! He was really sarcastic and fun! He made all of us take another bite of our dinner before he would take our plates! HE totally made our day, so we decided to make his! When he gave us our cotton candy, we ate some of it, then started playing with the rest and making sculptures out of it. I put a piece of cotton candy in the end of my water, and Nicolas dared me to drink it! I did, it was SO gross!!! Anyways, we made a sculpture for him out of the cotton candy and our left over desserts. And we decided to tip him really, really well. When we left, we made sure to tell him to check out our table. He thought we had made a mess, but we hadn't. We stood on the stairs and watched him pick up our sculpture! He turned and saw us throught the glass and had the biggest smile on his face! That alone was worth it! I'm sure, when he later saw how well we tipped him, he had an even bigger smile! I really hope that we made his day as much as he made ours. I know we were being totally silly and immature for our age, but we were having fun, and that's what DLR is all about!
And last but not least, all the CM's I encountered on July 17th were fantastic, and made that day even more memorable and special! Thanks everyone!

Wow, most of the comments are about Indy. I work on the Indy ride. So if you guys are ever there, just ask for Marshall. :icon_lol:

My best experience was listening to a guy working rear tram. During the recording he cut it off where it says, "If you have brought your own food and beverages..." and said "please share with all cast members you see." Near the end of the ride, he said something like, "Please make sure that all small children are with you as you exit to the driver's left-hand side. If any small children are found, we will take them to Small World, glue their feet to the ground, and make them sing that song over...and over...and over..."
Another memorable experience was at the DTD monorail station. A CM working there made an announcement and he was trying to sound just like an automated recording, and he did. And since we were waiting for a while before the next monorail came, he started singing "When you wish upon a Star" and he had a nice voice.
I think you can tell that CMs like these really enjoy their job.

me and my family were waiting for POD, and the CMS from splah got a break or something came over to where we were and started playing like duck duck goose, tag, ring around the rosies and fungames like that to make the wait time go faster
(the reason i knew they were splash cm's because that day we went on splash and saw them working the ride with the smae outfits and everything)

So...Do you remember being there after the park closed and showing two kids where the Eeyore sign was?

Our best experience with a CM was on the Mark Twain....the CM (sorry can't remember his name)who drives the boat let us (my son and I) drive the boat. I almost had more fun talking to him then driving. He was showing me hidden mickeys and pointing out some of the cats. He was really cool.

I would say that 99.9% of Cast Members are AWESOME! We've had only 2 bad experiences with them and I think it was b/c it was summer and they must have had a bad day or something. But I have a ton of great experiences with awesome CMs. Last October my cousin's fianc? lost his brand new cell phone on BTM and the CMs told us to come back 5 min. before the park "officially" closed and they would help us look for it. We did and they spent about 20 minutes looking for it under the tracks in the dark. We found it and were very thankful to them.

A few years ago, I decided to go into the Magic Shop in Main Street. This was "back in the day" when I was a practicing magician. So, there was a CM there and the two of us started talking about... well... magic. After about 15 or 20 minutes, he and I were doing card and coin tricks for each other and having a blast. We actually had a group of people standing around us as we performed. What a great day that was...

This one goes deep to geek-dom, but why not. I am a ham radio operator, and there was (or maybe still is) a 2m repeater on the matterhorn. I used to always carry my portable ham radio with me (looks like a walkie talkie sort of) when I was at DL. One day I was going into Captain EO and the CM who was handing out the 3D glasses stops me and asked if my radio was the model it was. I said yes and he pulled his coat up and there underneath, he was carrying his own ham radio while on duty! So we geeked out for a good few minutes about the matterhorn repeater and the Disney security frequencies and other ham-geek stuff. In the meantime, the line for glasses was growing behind me as the line was being held up, I guiltily looked back finally and said I should probably head in. Anyway, my best experience with a CM even if it's over-the-top geek... :)

Hey, here's to Geekology!
A few of my friends and I were in line for Autopia last year when a CM on the upper level noticed my Nightmare Before Christmas jacket. The three of us (He, my friend, and I) talked for about twenty minutes about Tim Burton and the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Of course, the line was steadily growing behind us, but none of us were moving away. The people in line behind us didn't seem to mind, either.
Good times talking with a CM about great stuff.

On my birthday this year when they swiped my pass they said "Happy Birthday Katey! Hope you have a Happy DAY!" I know they say this to everyone with an AP on their B-days but that personal touch is always appreciated no matter where it comes from. It's also nice to see CM's TRULY enjoying where they work. It always makes my day to chat with happy CM's on the job.

My locker wouldn't open because I overstuffed it so I went to city hall, I didn't even know why it wasn't opening. A CM named Denice [sic] walked over there with me and explained why it wouldn't open and was actually apologizing to me I kept telling her "don't apologize to me I should be apologizing to you. I sent a letter of commondation (so to speak) on her behalf.http://compucations.com/portal1649/e107_plugins/kig_menu/imagefiles/disney__mickey_mouse_stoned_pic_01.gif

Good and bad thing. The good thing was on my birthday a couple of years ago. I love how the CM's tell you Happy Birthday. It's something that NEVER gets old! The bad thing was in April of this year. My girlfriend and I were eating at the Pizza Port, and the entire time all we heard was this guy who worked there complaining to a co-worker, and swearing. I know people have their bad days, but there's something about an upset, vulgar employee to really kill the mood.

Last summer, we had a Jungle Cruise skipper, who on the last boat of the night, with a quater full bike started out with his usual speil, and then about 10 seconds later said, "Do you guys want to hear the same old stuff, or do you just want me to drive the boat and give you a little bit of history on the ride?" It was informative, refreshing, and against SOP. But he made our cruise the one that we'll remember for a long time. Wish I could remember his name, though.

This is my best cast member experience.
July 17th, 2005 entering the park early in the morning from waiting in the wristband line in California Adventure all night, walking towards Disneyland around 7:30 with our own special path with barriers on either side, seeing all those people wating to get in, all the Cast Members waving , saying good morning , welcome home, and then walking onto Main St. and seeing this!
The Best! We had tears in our eyes! Those that were there know what I'm talking about.

I know this is a way old thread. But I have an experience to add.
On our last trip to DL about a month ago we had a great experience with a CM. It was our last day, and we had accidentally left our camera at the hotel. We were walking from fantasyland to frontierland through the side castle exit, when we noticed Cinderella signing autographs and taking pictures with kids. My girls (4 and 2) really wanted to meet her. Especially my 4 year old who has always said that Cinderella is her favorite princess.
We stood in line for about a half an hour even though we didn't have a camera or autograph books or anything. My girls just wanted to talk to her. They were so excited, they picked a couple of leaves off of a nearby bush to give to her since they couldn't find any flowers.
When it was their turn, Cinderella was so cute with them. Talked to them for several minutes. Put on a big show of loving the leaves, said she would cherish them forever. Gave them big hugs, etc...
This was great. But the best part came about 4 hours later by the entrance of the park. We were on our way to go over to DCA, when who walks by? Cinderella on her way somewhere. Well when she saw us, she changed direction and came over to say hello to my girls again. And she called them all by name without being reminded! Even our 4 month old who had been asleep at the earlier meeting!
My girls were so happy about this. They talked for days about how they met Cinderella and she knows them and knows their names. She made a great memory for them.
I was so impressed I wrote an email to guest services to commend her. They are now sending our girls an autographed picture of the princesses. It's things like this that make Disneyland so unique.
Wow! That was a long post! I'm done now. :)

Another Indy moment I took my daughter and her friend to Disneyland two weeks ago and a cast member saw my camera and asked if he could take our photo. I said "Yes thankyou" and he offered his hat to my daughter for the photo. I love this photo and my daughters friend has a great memory from this as her first time on Indy! I wish I got the CM's name, I do appricieate moments like this that make the Trip all that more special.

A year ago, when I as at the GCH, I went for breakfast at the Storytellers Cafe. I was dining alone. The waitress, Cheryl, made me feel like a princess. Even though it was very busy, she made me feel like she was paying special attention to me. My glass of tea was never empty, she checked on me throughout the meal to make sure everything was good, and above all, she made it seem like I was the most special guest there. Absolutely the best service I have ever had, anywhere! Kudos, Cheryl!!
Me and my Bro were at DL having a trip together. It was fun! WE went on BLAB about 7 times before we met this CM named Cassie, she noticed I asked my bro to get fastpasses for tonight. She then asked me, "HOw many times have you gone on this today?" I said 7. She nodded and I thought "That was wierd" Bro came back anad we walked through the queue. We then saw her inside! In the dorrway before buzz. She then handed me 14 FASTPASSES!!!! I'm like "What?!?!" I counted then I saluted her cause I was too far away. We then wanted to go again and used our fastpass, but she was still there and let us through, she didn't take the fastpasses! She was the niceest CM i've met. I think she was part of the dream squad...

Last year I made myself a little "Class of 1955" button to wear around DL for the 50th. One of the CMs on the Storybook Canal Boats noticed it and we had a nice conversation. When I returned from my trip, I was greeted by her and her lead, whom she'd radioed to come up and say hi. We had really nice visit and I enjoyed sharing my old pics with them.

Whoa! This thread is so old, but all of the above stories (especially the Cinderella one) are so nice. I don't know if I could go on BLAB 14 times though.

On my last trip to Disneyland (October 1st), ALL of the CMs I encountered were extra friendly! Even the CM at Stitch's Picture Phone remembered me! I had a lot of really cool conversations throughout the day. And practically all of the conversations started because of all my Stitch stuff! :icon_lol:
One of the coolest, nicest, friendliest and funnest CMs I know is Grady. He works as an entertainment host at the Lilo & Stitch Aloha Breakfast at PCH Grill. The first time I went there, he came up to me and we had a really nice conversation. I mentioned about how cool the breakfast was, but I wished I was younger so that could join in on one of the activities. Despite my age, he encouraged me to join the next game and at the end, he told everyone to give me a round of applause for playing along. Then when I went to the breakfast again months later, he remembered me and gave me a hug! Awesome guy!

For my 23rd birthday, one of the cast members working the POTC que, allowed my brother and I to have our own boat, since they noticed my birthday sticker, I also got the same special treatment with IASM.
Also, when my aunt had broken her leg back in the early 90's, she had to be in a wheelchair and couldn't walk, almost every ride we rode, since we got to enter in through the exit's a cast member would help my aunt out of her wheelchair, put it away for her, and help her into the vehicle. That's wonderful, wonderful service.
