Ok...So I just got back from Disneyland yesterday and thought I share with you a little change in Fantasmic! that really excited me. It was a minor change, but still something really cool. I don't know how long this has been like this, so if anyone could tell me, that would be cool. You guys know the part right after Mickey destroys Maleficent and then Tinkerbell is flying around as a projection and right after her, there (what I always thought) are cast members swinging around cloves of fiber optics in circles on the Tom Sawyer Island stage. Well thats now gone, and they installed hundreds of strobe lights on the stage that light up in sync with the music. Like I said, it's minor, but totally awesome. This was done first at Fantasmic! in Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World and I always thought it looked cooler than the spinning fiber optics, but now we have it and it's done way better.
Also, http://miceage.com/allutz/al080205d.htm mentioned that sometime this decade there is going to be a "Fantasmic! II". I don't think that means a whole new show, but more great modifications like the one I saw this past week. =)

The strobe lights look nifty at the end when they start shooting upwards in a pattern... They're a bit big and bulby for me when they're just randomly flashing...when it should be a lighter twinkling. It's kind of disappointing though because they'd gone through so much trial and error with the stage hands doing stuff during that part. First it was waving their hands around wearing blue glow in the dark gloves..and it looked pretty silly. Then they waved around other stuff.. glow sticks, spinners, yadda. Finally they had these spinning fiberoptic things that changed and did neat synchronized colors and it looked pretty good finally.

Will Fantasmic II be like Fantasmic with new added scenes and effects? I think should never changed a classic show.

i like the lights... just so i don't see cms' hands behind the glowy thingies. haha. but fantasmic 2.... does that mean a whole new show or... is it just the current show slightly editted. omg i hope it's not the first because i will cry. too much emotional attachment. maybe they can keep both of them... u kno. do the current one at 9, and the second one at 10 something. and days where there's only one show... well...

And later this decade Cynthia Harriss's original proposal for "Fantasmic II" could actually now make it off the drawing boards and bring back the huge crowds that used to warrant three Fantasmic! performances per night back in the '90s.
These are the exact words. Fantasmic II is far, far from definetly happening. Lutz is only connecting some dots that really have a very small chance of actually connecting. I really doubt this would ever get approved. Anything with Cynthia Harriss' name on it you aren't going to like. My guess is WDW's Fantasmic w/ no real dragon, fire, or anything. The plan probably was just for movie scenes and a new 50,000 square foot gift shop that takes out 3 rides  .

Yeah by no means do I want them change a classic show like Fantasmic! at Disneyland, but one thing I would love them to bring back is the Ursula float. That always added a little more to our show I think. But yeah I dont think they would change the show, it would be just a few minor upgrades or something. To get an idea of the new strobe lights, I have the Fantasmic video from WDW but I don't know how to upload things. If anyone cares to see it, could you let me know how to do it?

^ IMO, WDW's is a bad copy of Disneyland's Fantasmic!, not a seperate show entirely. Basically WDW just replaced some Disneyland scenes with less-interesting movie bits from more recent films like Hercules, Pocahontas, Aladdin, etc. Taking out originality like the dancing monkeys and replacing it with random movie bits inside little water bubbles doesn't do you any favors in my book.
What did Harriss come up with in her little plan for Fantasmic II? I'm not sure I even want to know. But I should reiterate that no one has ever said anywhere that Fantasmic II is officially coming to any Disney theme park. Al Lutz said that it might one day with the extra capital coming from strong attendance numbers in the summer, but who knows really. We just have to wait, see, and enjoy the current Fantasmic! while we can.

WDWs Fantasmic! is simply horrid. Their scenes are too bland, and that makes the show less captivating. The only thing i would like to see come over from WDW is their fountain system... it is TONS better than ours, but thats the only thing worth bringing over and updating with DLs Fantasmic!

i totally agree! i saw the entire WDW version of Fantasmic is terrible. First of all the stage is very cheesy. i dont likt the way it is constructed. and then disneyland does a fantastic (no pun intended) of hiding all the special effects and fireworks. Before the show started there were two huge cement blocks in the water that were for the fireworks and they were hideous! i think it is a very bad imitation! oh, and the steam boat willie thing is soo ugly. NOTHING COMPARED TO THE MARK TWAIN BOAT.
and the characters who are on the boat have no dance routine.
they just wave and stand around on the boat! simply disasterous!
anyways DL Fantasmic is simply awesome and they should only add on and make better from the original show.

I totally agree! WDW Fantasmic! is just simply bland and uninteresting! When I saw it, I was just appalled at how much they replaced or took out! I was okay with some of the replacements b/c they wanted to make this Fantasmic different so it can be unique for WDW, but when they replace the Pink Elephants on Parade and Pinnochio's "no strings attached" with random movie scenes! Aggghhhhhh!!! And, the most shocking of all to me is the removal of the Peter Pan and Pirates and the addition of Pocohantas and the whole British settlers vs Indians thing. *again* Aggghhhhhh!!!

The ONLY Thing I like about the WDW one is that it has almost all the disney villians in the show. like in DL it only has Capt Hook Ursula Malificent the Wicked queen Kaa(if u consider him as one) and chernabog. While the WDW has Ursula Malificent the Wicked queen Chernabog cruella hades(my personal fav) jafar Scar Governor Ratcliff Judge Frollo

CORRECTION i reseach about the ursula inflatible(barge) this is exactly from
http://www.mouseplanet.com/david/bear.htm
...the barge was sent for repairs. After the work was completed, the cast member reports, "The Mouse said that the barge was beyond hope. I'm guessing that (the vendor) was blamed for this, and thus were denied payment for services rendered." Goodbye, Ursula.

Just a small side note. The light effect on Fantasmic! in Disneyland Resort is very different, yet similar to the one is WDW. Similar, because they both are in fact lights, but yet what makes me like Disneyland Resort's and not WDW's is that the one in Florida is pretty much random flickering, or at least to the aundience point of view. Unlike the Disneyland Resort in which all the lights movement are synchronized with the music. Although they are simliar, to very very different effects.

Again I agree. I do think the Fountains in WDW are great. BUT NOT THAT GREAT! I think as far as the 7 fountains we have that are angled down like this \)}l{(/ (thats the best i could do lol), and WDW's are just shot straight up like this l l l l l l l . That is super borging an not as symbolic as the ones at dlr. And I think the Wall of fountains is just cheap for a Wow effect and non other because its completetly pointless. I do think WDW's fountain system is a major upgrade from outs but there founatins are all boring and just as fun to watch. But I would love to see some new ones come to DLR to spice things up.
