I am curious...Is your Disney obsession limited to thinking about your next trip? Does it affect your house, car, clothing, amount of time spent on message boards like this, eBay, etc?
Do your friends or family think youre weird?

I would like to think I am a Disney nerd, I do have a nice collection of bags, tickets, brochures, toys and such going back pretty far. I like to plan my trips to DL, but not what I am going to go on except for the first ride of the day. My room is not filled with Disney stuff either, it's all in storage. I am sure there are other people more involved in it than I, but I am a nerd nontheless.

YES! My house keeps accumulating more and more Disney stuff! Just spent $250 of my graduation $$ at Disneydirect! Got the dedication plaque, the 6 disc music set and a cookie jar:tongue: I kinda went crazy when I was there for the 17th too. I got the Lenox SBC(that I thought I had no chance of getting since it was LE 1,955) and a bunch of other stuff including the "I was there" pin. My husband is a huge Donald fan, so we have a lot of Donald stuff too. Got a couple of the old Disney store figures too, form Ebay! Yep, I'd say I am a certified Disney nerd! I don't really care though, it's what makes me happy:biggrin: I'm ususally not one to spend a lot of money on ANYTHING, but sometimes I just cannot resist when it is Disney!:icon_shoc

Uh yeah. It's bad. My new office is going to be decorated in everything Disney. Got a nice collection of nostalgic board games going on and my brother, Clint, got me into the whole "globe" thing. Into pin COLLECTING. Sorry, no trading here! yeah well...my cell phone has the Mickey antennae topper (which they don't sell anymore...) my current screen saver on my cell is Minnie mouse in a swim suit tanning on a flower... I have Disney stuff all over my desk, etc. Most of my cell ring tones are Disney. It's real nice when you're in a business meeting and all of the sudden you hear Zip-a-dee-doo-dah playing. People really get a kick out of it. I'm also a car antenna topper collector too. It's pretty sickening really. Scares the **** out of my family (and I think my kids are getting hooked too...) Hubby just has to grin and bear it. I think I'm wearing off on him actually :-)

My friends and family think my Disney obsession is weird... like I'm in my own fantasy world. lol. I will spend $500 at DLR when I go. My room has so much Disney merchandise from attraction posters to art signed by Walt to film cells to Disney Classics Collection statues to a Steamboat Willie big figure. I have displays with rare POTC, HM, and other DLR items.

I would also like a statue of "Partners" for my house. If anyone knows where to get anything like that, I would love to know!!!

My family definately thinks I am weird.
I think I just bought my entire fall wardrobe from Disney deals on ebay, and bought some gifts, too.
My car, of course, but I don't have an antenna, darnit, so I can't have an antenna topper :( I do have the european style sticker with the "D" on it.
My house is full of Disney prints...and old collectables from eBay and found at antique stores.
Oh yeah, and my home page on the computer is now this website! I love this website - it is a fun Disney site- my favorite now. It is much nicer than having MSN news come up and seeing all negative stuff.
But all this makes me happy, so I wanted to see what other people do!

I'm sort of a closet Disney freak. Every day I talk about going to the parks, about our last trip, our coming trip, etc. I have bought several ordiments for Christmas of Disney. My DH won't let me get the entire house decorated of Disney stuff around Christmas time...his mom is a HUGE Disney freak and it's nothing but Disney stuff around Christmas. It's kind of hilarious when you think about it...because there are the three huge wisemen of Mikey, Donald, and Goofy. I have about 3-4 shirts of disney that I don't as often as I use to. And I have a Disney purse. That's basically it.

My office at work is filled with Disney items, I work at a high school so everyone likes my stuff. At home are all my pins, s**** books, and special Disneyland photo albums. My family thinks I'm crazy that I always want to go to Disneyland. I only go every 16 months or so. If I had the cash I would be going alot more. My friends think I'm crazy always wanting to spend my hard earn money for Disneyland vacations. They think I should be going to Vegas or Hawaii - right! I do have support from my best girlfriend though she is more obsessed then I am. She has a whole room in her house dedicated to Disney, its so cool, I often envy it.

I know what you mean, my friends and family always wonder why my vacations are always Disneyland. So, in the past year or so, I have humored them and gone other places, like Vegas and various other areas of California. I let none of this infringe on my Disney time though, it has to be in addition to the DIsney trips.

After reading through all the posts here, I must confess: I, too am a Disney nerd. Like Snoozy, Everybody always asks me why I don't go to Hawaii or a cruise or something more "adult." I tell them those things don't appeal to me as much as Disneyland does. I would rather save my money and drive 1200 miles to Disneyland once a year than spend that money going anywhere else! I start planning my next trip to Disneyland almost as soon as we get home from the one we just went on! I watch videos of the rides all the time--it tides me over until I get to go to Disneyland again. I get on VF at least 3 times a day to read the posts on Corner Cafe and look at any new pictures on DaddyB's desktop updates. I have so much Disney stuff in my house that it always looks cluttered. I'm HAPPY being a Disney nerd!! =)

No, you cleary wouldn't be the only one - but I just saw s**** (bunch of stars) and booking, and I was trying to figure out why the stars are there - of course now I know what it means... (still not sure why the stars are there) but before, I can't imagine how I would. I collect all those items as well, but I don't have the patience to do all those extra googelie things so I just toss it all in there, put on a date and to me, I guess its a photo album

I'm also wondering why the stars came up. You should try s****booking with your stuff its actually a lot of fun and brings back your trip memories, good to do on those rainy days when you have nothing to do. They do have books you can buy at Disneyland for this craft, pretty pricy though.

Well I didn't used to think I was a Disney nerd.....but I guess I am. I am begging my husband to take me & the 4 yr old back next year. I'm always on this site & checking other Disney sites for photos, updates & interesting posts on the boards. I love watching the planning videos, the videos from this site & the videos we took on our trip over the 4th of July week. I too am working on that dirty word " s c r a p b o o k i n g " I have 2 books done & about 5 to go to cover our trip. We took over 1500 photos in 5 days of Disney & 2 non-Disney days. Since we got back, I have been addicted to ebay & buying pins & cast member stuff. My hubby says if I want to go back I need to stop doing that !! I never thought I'd be into the pins but I came home with about 15 pins & have more than tripled that (last count I believe I was around 61) lol So I admit it......I'm a mouse-a-holic. There, I said it & it feels good to be with others that admit it as well. Its all I think about !!! How can you not love Disneyland ?!

I'm a HUGE Disney nerd!!! There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Disneyland! My husband does not share the same love for all things Disney so I try to purchase small things which I keep on a bookshelf above the computer desk.
We just bought a 2005 Camry. My husband said I could pick the car this time since he did last time. The ONLY thing I really wanted was an antenna so I could buy a Disney antenna ball! Well, I was pretty upset that my car doesn't have an antenna! I do have a Disney license plate frame and a Mickey around my geer shift.
I have tons of Disney shirts which I wear every weekend. One of my favorite things is my musical Mickey toaster. I have frozen waffles almost every morning just so I can hear it play! It makes me smile in the morning. I also have a Mickey face on my tooth which I LOVE! I work for a dentist and have fun showing it to some of the patients. I'm too chicken to get a tattoo so this is the next best thing!
When people find out I'm going on vacation they always say "Don't tell me....you're NOT going to Disneyland AGAIN are you?" I always say with a BIG smile...."YES I AM!" I'll never grow old as long as I can keep going to Disneyland!

its the 4 letters after your 'S' that is the issue.
the editor in the Thread software
is considering that as a bad word and edits it out.
as for the thread question itself...
I would consider myself quite a disney fannatic.
I don't have the extensive collections as some of you,
But I try to spend as much time on walt's property as possible.
(I Just can't stay out of the parks!)
I wasn't into Disney before my trip back in March for my 18th birthday. I wanted to prepare for my spring break trip and so I went on many websites to look fot trip tips. I stumbled onto this website and after reading everything, I was so excited. When it was time for my trip and entered Disneyland I went back to all of my memories of my trips and got chills. And ever since after my trip I've been reading books, going here daily, saving up for an annual pass. My brother is so annoyed but he does love it when we go there. Everytime I do something that is related to Disney, I always have to mention it and smile.

Huge Disney Nerd!!!!

08-05-2005, 12:52 AM
I am a HUGE Disney nerd. My family thinks i'm too obsessed and wants me to get interested in nature and animals instead while a few of my friends want me to get into what is "in". i don't think so.. Disney is my thing and its the only thing I ever talk about. i my plan next trips to the park one day after I get back from the park. My last trip was sunday July 17, 2005 and my next trips are sunday August 21, 2005, Monday August 22, 2005, Friday September 2, 2005, once in october and once in November. yeah....Im that obsessed. im even making plans for 2006.:icon_lol:
Lets see...I go to disneyland 5-7 times each year and the disney store each week. I have a few photo books with pictures of Disneyland but not very many. I have videos of many of my trips. I have 2 videos from 1995, 1 video from 2003, 3 videos from 2004, and 2 videos in 2005.
My whole room is themed disney and my whole computer is disney disney disney...except for the computer itself.;) I have 4 giant snowglobes, 12 small snowglobes, many stuffed animals, 25 antenna toppers, 9 disneyland hats, 6 fastpasses ( or more), 6 statues, many small and big figures, books, 4 postcards, a lot of cds, dvds, videos (over 100), stickers, frames, pictures, cels, jewelry, pins, posters, key chains, watches, mugs, ornaments, clothes, purses and bags, disney video games, even $50 worth of a box full of Roger Rabbit stuff off ebay!!! I collect whatever I can find thats disney. I buy even more stuff at Disneyland and I collect stuff from the park, from maps, to fastpasses, to bags, to pressed pennies, to confettii from the shows and parades. I've downloaded everything off this website and off any other website of Disneyland videos and audio.( i have quite a collection).
I'm too young to have any kids considering i still am one (13) but i have 2 friends who are 6 and 7 who have never been to disneyland. They wish that they could go some day so I plan to take them someday if ever. But they admire me and my room sooo much. They even wrote an essay on how nice i am. They are so inspired by my room that they want their rooms to be disney themed too. The problem is is that they don't have enough Disney Stuff to do it. I thought i would help them out a bit and let them have a few of my stuff and since their family's favorite character is Tinkerbell, I bought the family a Tinkerbell mug. When i showed It to them they were so happy they ran up and hugged me, thanking me so much for the mug, and wish to go to the Happiest Place on Earth that was inspiration to all the world, Disneyland.
Well I would write more but i think i'll stop there for the night. And thats pretty much all I could think of.

My mom is the same way, we are both big geeekss... We are saving up for our next trip, hopefully in November, by going out on the night before garbage day, and taking everyones bottles and plastics to recycle so we can pay for the trip...So far, we have "stolen" over 500 bucks in bottles. -I can NOT start my day without listening to Visions Fantastic Radio on live 365 (I will listen for the rest of my 9 hour work day), I need that more that I need my morning coffee.
-Not one day goes by where I don't tell my wife, "We gotta go to D-land!"
-I am on this message board ALL day
-We once re-financed our house and used a considerable amount of money to stay at the Grand Californian for the 3rd time. (that's worse than a crack habit people).
-We live in Vegas but still go once every 3 months.
-I have looked on-line for the ingredient to make my house smell like the Haunted Mansion!!! (it's called "Fullers Earth" for those who are interested)
-I have looked for any and all Recipes available from D-lands restaurants.
-I can translate the writting on the walls of indiana jones. (you can download the font freom the internet, its called "Mara Font")
-I will go into the park BY MYSELF!!!
-We have spent a considerable amount of money on a painting of the Haunted Mansion that is the Focal Point of our home.

Vegas is nowhere near DL. About 5 hours away from it. Take the 5 north from DL to the 118 east it becomes the 210 and take it straight to the 15 and go north. From that interchange it is about 4 hours away.

I can get from my doorstep to the Disenyland in about 3hours 45 minutes (depending on traffic). I-15 to east 60 to south 57 exit Katella. BAM!!
The smell of Pirates: A few of the casinos here (Venetian, Caesars, Aladdin) have loads of water in them, and they all use the same chemicals as Pirates for filtration. at any given time I can walk into these casinos and close my eyes and feel like I am in POTC. Yeah, I know what you mean-- same with the Eldorado in Reno, their fountain smells like POTC - and I have a pool - I think it may be the sheer amount of chlorine in it...not too sure.
I try to make my back yard Blue Bayou-esque - with lanterns, etc...and the pool - when we have parties. If I could just get the smell without burning peoples eyes out. During the day... I go for the NOS look. I want my husband to do a G-scale of the Lilly Belle - someday.

Vegas is nowhere near DL. About 5 hours away from it. Take the 5 north from DL to the 118 east it becomes the 210 and take it straight to the 15 and go north. From that interchange it is about 4 hours away.
Oh dear, it is much faster if you take 57 north to 60 east & then 15 north. Your way would tack on at least 1-2 hours extra & there's an enormous traffic risk. I would guess Vegas is about 4 hours from Disneyland if you went the speed limit the entire time.

Can someone explain to me since when did scrapbooking become a dirty word? Ridiculous!
Its because it contains the word 'c-r-a-p' I've taken it out of the censor and it shouldn't be a problem anymore. Ya'll just gotta promise you won't use that word....

For some of you that don't know me, I'm Chris, the webmaster of this website. Aside from a small collection of CDs, books and magazines, there is very little Disney memorabilia in our home. My daughter, on the other hand, has the following toys: (She's five)
About 4 complete sets Princess figures.
The huge WDW Cinderella Castle with over 80 figurines
The Princess "Teapot Castle"
Beauty and the Beast Castle with miniature figurines
The following figurine sets: JoJo's Circus, The Incredibles, Kim Possible, Rollie Polie Olie, a bugs life, Toy Story (1 and 2), Monsters Inc, Mulan, and many many more! (Some from McDonalds, some not)
She has a computer in her room, and it runs very slow. Pretty much all that runs on it is the WDW Explorer CD ROM.
3 Other non descript Princess Castles
Numerous Disney posters in her bedroom
Princess Tea Cart
A Fisher Price Castle that has been renamed "Sleeping Beauty Castle"
Every Pixar film and most of the Disney features on VHS or DVD. (She's claimed Daddy's Disneyland USA DVD as her own).
She's just informed us she wants her room painted pink and blue.

Yeah, which is probably part of why I have put it off... the thing is, we are military and there is some class on the base where we can learn to do it ourselves - frame - but I keep procrastinating.

Thanks for the info PeoplemoverMatt. I'm not use to driving on the 57 or 60. I am in Simi so for me I just go 5 south to DL or straight to the 15 to Vegas. Last time I went to Vegas I was going 115mph most of the way. Anyway, back on topic, my Disney collection also includes old records, Coca-Cola/Disney pins, posters, books, coins, napkins, happy meal boxes from the Village Haus from like 88', hats, Capt. EO glasses, old sugar packets from DL hotel in the 80's, pirate sword from the 80's, etc, etc, etc....

I am a HUGE Disney fan/nerd.
Even some of the sequels of some of the old movies are kind of bad, I would still buy them for my dvd collection. I prefer widescreen format for my Disney DVDs.

Ah yes, Webmaster Chris but, it is a completely different word with the s in front of it and has no offensive meaning at all. Of course I would never use that word, well at least not here.

i am a TOTAL DISNEY FREAK. when my friends want to go out and i say "no" or "i can't" their first response is "oh, are you going to disneyland?" and i'm the first person they come to when they say they want to go to the parks. i have 3 (almost 4) friends who are so obsessed that they plan on starting a club and making shirts (the 4th friend just got his ap, so he's almost as crazy as us). the majority of my allowance goes to buying food and souvenirs on my trips (which are at least once ever 2 weeks at the moment. sometimes up to 4 times in a week.) if i don't mention disney at least ONCE in a day, it means i was unconscious for the day. if i could afford it, i want to have my room redecorated so that it was either all lilo and stitch or fantasmic. ... i gotta stop before i truly realize how insane i am. but then again, this has to be one of the most wholesome obsessions possible.

Well, I live for this stuff. I'm a teacher and I play Disneyland music in my classroom. I'm always looking at Disneyland pictures or videos. I make my own home movies and have edited two Disneyland Family Vacation videos and I am currently working on a third. My Disneyana collection is growing all the time. There's a framed picture of Splash Mountain on one wall of my home and one of the Pirates of the Carribean on the other. I proposed to my wife at Disneyland...
I guess you could say I'm a Disneyland nerd first class... and darn proud to be one!

Yes, I am a Disney freak and proud of it!! It's so wonderful to know that there are people who love Disney as much as me. I and my family only get to go to DL about every 16 months or so. We are hopefully going to change that( we're buying a motorhome and an annual pass) so we can go twice a year!! My husband loves Disneyland and so do my children. Other family members say the same thing to me about going to other places. My sister-in-law asked why we didn't take the Disney cruise, that way the children could do their thing and my husband and I could have some adult time. She just doesn't get it....I don't WANT adult time! I mean, I love spending time with my guy, but I have to be "adult" all the time. When I'm at DL, I feel like a kid again, and I want to share every experience with my children. I don't want to be separated from them, they're going to be grown and on their own soon enough. I cherish these trips with my family and I LOVE making the memories! Besides, the cruise doesn't have the rides...I need the rides!!! Our next trip is July or Aug. of 2006. I love Disney and always will. It REALLY is the happiest place on earth!

PEOPLE I definetely feel AT HOME here. I am a total Disneyland NERD! I have all the Birnbaum books from 1999 to now. I have bought maps and ticket stubs from the years me, my hubby, and my sister were born on EBAY. I buy all sorts of collectible books. I have all sorts of DVDs purchased from ebay with DL attractions (for my dose of DL when I'm having withrawals). My most expensive is an opening day Olzweski "Sleeping Beauty Castle" model. I have all the fonts on every computer I use on a regular basis. All of my ringtones on my cell phone are music from the park. I play my Disneyland Resort CD ALL THE TIME! I am defientely obsessed. Good thing my sister and my husband are too or else I might feel inadequate in the regular world.

I'm pretty much gonna say what many of the people before me said. I am a Disney nerd. I have a long shelf up near my ceiling that goes across two walls, and I would say that almost half of the stuff on that shelf is Disney. Even the stuff that isn't Disney is somewhat disney. Such as my Jurassic Park T-rex model who wears a pair of construction paper Mickey ears. I even have a bulliten board in my room that has nothing on it but things I have picked up at disneyland such as shopping bags and Fastpass tickets. So yeah I think it's safe to say I'm a Disney nerd.

My license plate is DSNYUSA, my office is filled with snow globes, maps of both Disneyland and DCA, and park ride trinkets. Right above and to the right my monitor I have a Disney calender, directly above I have a lithograph of Sorcerer's Apprentice, and above and left I have a water painting purchased in New Orleans Square of The Mark twain. I plan my Disneyland trips at least six to eight months in advance. As a matter of fact my next trip is around Thankgiving this year and it was booked in January! My lovely wife thinks I have a problem, my friends think I have a problem... and I'm OK with that!

Nerd, Geek, whathave you I'm just Obsessed about Disneyland. At least that's what I get from my family and friends. They haven't given me a title they just say I'm obsessed. Of course I don't care cause I know it's true. I got maps from different time periods all around my room with various merch and plush dolls hanging around and such. I even have an authentic 1970's ish big map that features America Sings hanging above my comp so I can always stare at what the park looked like in 74,75,76 or 70-something. Yep, I'm obsessed.

I think your office sounds great. My wife and I have a bedroom modeled much the same way. I painted a few oil paintings to match the decor. We try to rotate the paintings. I am currently working on one that depicts fantasmic. I say who cares what people think, I am a Disney nerd.

I think it depends on what your definition of a nerd is. But yeah I think I am, people definitely know I have an obsession with DL since it's often the topic of conversation. My life doesn't revolve around it because face it, I'd never get anything accomplished. But needless to say I do consider myself a Disney "geek" or nerd..

I am pretty much a Disney 'Geek.' Because this is how I got very interested in the Furry Fandom. Disney's anthromorphic characters from Lion King, Robin Hood, etc. Disney is cool, but they need new ideas or make their own to make great movies and rides. I know Disneyland more than my friends, cause I visit their more than them.
But, I still love Furries and Werewolves. Furries rule!

I am a huuuuuge Disney freak. I have a section of my room totally dedicated to Disney (in fact, I have no idea why I don't just turn the whole thing Disney) complete with:
- cups from all of the Disney on Ice Shows I have ever been to
- a Simba bank
- a Lion King figureine
- a special real silver cup my grandma gave me with my intials engraved in the back
- A Pirates of the Caribbean script and a picture from the premeire
Not to mention countless poster.
My friends know never to bring up anything that has to do with Disney unless the are in the mood for a long winded disscussion about it. They also know that I can tell them presisley when a Disney movie comes or anything they want to know about Disney. It is my life's ambition to work as an animator for Disney, mabye even run the studio someday.
Every year for my birthday and Christmas I ask for a season pass to Disneyland (no luck so far). Currently in art I am working on a picture where I am intergrating Disney scenery into a drawing of my face.
I could go on like this forever but, sadly I will not.
