We saw a wedding a couple of years ago in the grassy area just to the left of the castle at Disneyland. They had a harpist playing and Mickey and Minnie were there dressed in their wedding attire. There was also a photpgrapher and some other Disney officials but NO family or friends in site! I thought that was really strange. There were tons of people from the park gathered around watching. They also had a huge wedding cake set up which they cut after the wedding. I have no idea who was going to eat it all! I just thought it was kind of odd to spend all that money to get married at Disneyland and not have any family or friends there with you!

Funny you should mention weddings. I was watching a special on Food Network yesterday about Disney weddings, although their focus was on WDW.
I've been to a Disney wedding before and it was SO amazing! All I remember is that it was about to rain, so we got free ponchos. Then the food was the best I've EVER had! And the guy at the bar was really nice (not to mention good looking!).

I did have the opportunity one time to be a footman for one wedding. It's pretty fun, because EVERYONE stops to see what's going on! As the footman, I carried the wedding rings in Cinderella's glass slipper to the groom.

In the future when/if I find someone, I might have a wedding at the DLR. It sounds really interesting.

But realize that the Disney ceremony is not a legal ceremony. It's a ceremony at Disneyland, but not a "REAL" marraige. You need to be married somewhere else and have your marraige license certified by a real priest, justice of the peace, etc.
The Disney wedding is more or less, just a show. Fun, yes, but not legally binding.

I am not sure what you mean so let me clarify some points from someone who does have the legal authority to marry people.
Location does not matter. I can marry a person anywhere. So far I have performed weddings in the mountains, on the coast, at parks, in backyards, on a yacht, as well as in churches. The location does not matter but the person officiating the wedding does.
Maybe that is what you are referring to. If a Disney employee (without credentials) performs the ceremony then you are correct and it is not a wedding. But if someone with my credentials were to perform the wedding at Disneyland it would be 100% legal and binding.
I would be surprised that Disney wouldn't somehow get the right person to do the job. I would think that Disney would have a phone list of people to call. If not, sign me up!
A legal wedding requires
1. A valid marriage certificate issued by the state prior to the 'ceremony'
2. A person with legal credentials to officiate the wedding
3. 2 witnesses
4. Bride and Groom (obviously)
And that is it.
TimmyII - I apologize if I misread your statement. I just wanted to clarify some things.

MICKEY AND MINNIE signed on the dotted line,,,...hmmmmm

It would be my pleasure
dc8781 - They do review the names to make sure the printed name is readable and that they print on the print line and sign on the sign line. I wonder if they would even catch that the names were Mickey and Minnie.
As fas as real legality goes, no, they would not qualify since it is not an identifyable person.
