Yo Ho!...huh?...what refurb?

I was just looking around at a couple sights for refurbs. One site said that there was a rumor that POTC was going to a month refurb that may go on for 4 months!! :eek: This may run into my trip and that wouldn't be cool.

When I was at the park a couple of weeks ago, I heard Pirates will be closing this fall so they can shoot part of the new movie there. Not sure if this is true or not but it would be cool to see if you could recognize parts of the ride in the movie!

Yeah, thats not whats happening. POTC is shutting down for a few months so all of the audio can be updated. They are converting all of the audio to a digital format as well as switching it from mono to stereo. Or so i have heard. I also heard that they are adding new boats.

The only thing that I had actually seen from Disneyland's official site was that Pirates was going to be down for a little while. After that, I knew none of the details or anything else regarding that subject.

from what i heard is that next year they are adding will and elizabeth in the pirate ride to promote the 3rd movie when it comes out next year. those two will be part of the story line and i dont know what part of the ride they will be in.

That may be your opinion, but your comment regarding realism of AA's is incorrect. I think the Auctioneer would especially disagree.

They would if they realized it never belonged there in the first place. POTC movies were based on the POTC attraction. The attraction was a classic for nearly 40 years before it was altered. The current alterations have radically changed the basic storyline of the ride and give a major blow to the ride's timelessness quality. That being said, the movie elements in the ride could be a great deal better if their dialogue wasn't collectively awful.

^^True. I highly doubt that they will ues the ride for the movie. Movies have REAL PPL Not animatronics. Thats very not like disney to do that. However kiera nightly and orlando bloom will be joining there fellow pirate mates in this attraction around january i belive.
And about the audio it already is digital. Or atleast thats exactily what they said in all the DLR podcasts. The officail ones not the fan based ones. So it will proably take a month or so to put those two in the ride. And i think it will be around january or whenever then third movie comes out.

Check the date of the originating post on this thread - 7-31-2005. The original refurb mentioned is completed. New rumors about movie shoots are another thing, though...
