View Full Version : Mission: Space @ Disneyland?!?

Since the 1998 renovation of Tomorrowland, especially more recently, there have been many changes done to Tomorrowland with the new version of Space Mountain, the addition of Buzz Lightyear, and now, the recently announced Finding Nemo ride (which I'm still questioning what it has to do with Tomorrowland). In my opinion the next addition should (and very well could) be Mission: Space. The one problem is that to make room for the giant size of MS, they would have to take out Innoventions and demolish the old Innoventions/ Carosel of Progress building in favour of a new building that can house the attraction.

i personally dont mind saying goodbye to innoventions cuz i rarely go in there, it would be a nice addition.

If this happened wouldn't the Innoventions Building be large enough as it is? that is a pretty massive building. Or just down size the ride.

I'd rather see an updated version of Mission Mars.

Mission: Space uses MASSIVE centrifuges that definetly wouldn't fit in the Innoventions building. They may be able to fit one in there but could u imagine the capacity issues we'd have? I remember hearing someone recomend stacking one on top of another, I spose that's a possibility still.

Innoventions building is great for taking a break after walking and avoiding the crowds in a very hot day at Disneyland. But i think mission: space won't fit in the innoventions. Most people say that place is so boring.

If they can't fit Mission Space in Innoventions then they should do something similar. TL does need something else that has nothing to do with cartoons and is futuristic.

Thanks for all the feedback, so do you think this is a good idea? or do you think I'm out of my mind?

This addition would be great, but I would much rather see another version of Mission To Mars instead of another great attraction dublicate.

The biggest problem with Innoventions is how you get in there. I really hate having to stand there, watch the dumb video, wait for the thing to spin, etc. If people could just walk in like Animation Building then you'd probably see a noted increase in attendance numbers.

Well, my proposal for Mission Space to replace Innoventions calls for the replacement of the old CoP/ Innoventions building in favour of a new building to house the massive size of Mission: Space, so the whole thing about the Innoventions building being a pain to enter will not be a problem since Mission Space will be in a new building and there, the queue line could be designed for long lines, so the problem of lines in the sun wouldn't be a problem (if they did it the way I would)

Mission space sounds like an awesome ride and if it came to DL that would be really interesting and cool..not to metion REALLY LONG LINES but that's 1/2 the fun when going to DL..well sort of

^ The funny thing is, Misson: Space rarely had any sort of lengthy stand-by wait time. I have pictures of the electronic board in Epcot that displayed Mission: Space's wait time to be 10mins & Soarin's wait time to be 70mins!

Someone died on that ride, for no reason.

^ There was a very good reason. Those G-forces were never meant for 4-yr olds.

Have they determined the G-forces to be the Cause Of Death? I have not seen the official report.

I think that Tomorrowland should have Mission Space not Test Track because Mission Space is more tomorrow to me but they should get another E-Ticket ride for Frontierland first because it needs one the most actually it doesnt need to be E-Ticket just something people would go on that is not a clone from another Disney park or based off a movie especially a Pixar one maybe ill think one up and try to send the idea to disney and see if it passes but i wont get my hopes up

Official report isn't out yet. G-forces are what creates the most stress on your body in that ride so they had to have played a part somehow. Such a tragedy. I'm going to give my 3 year old nephew an extra hug next time I see him...

I think it's almost unanimous that something new in TL would be nice and that we could probably deal with not having Innoventions anymore. If I had my way, I wish they could bring America Sings back to that building (but that's kind of impossible since the animatronics are now at Splash Mountain). I'm not sure if I'd want Mission: Space there though. I want a new attraction that I can actually see! (I say this because I probably can't stomach Mission: Space if I have a hard time not getting car sick...)

Since I'm such a huge Stitch fan, I kind of wish they could replace Honey I Shrunk the Audience with Stitch's Great Escape, but I'm not sure if that building is big enough. If you have a ride idea/suggestion, how likely is it that anyone of any importance will hear what you have to say? There's so many comments I'd like to give to the people who work at Disney, but I don't think they even take what I say with a grain of salt. Although one time when I sent a comment to the Disneyland website (I think it was), I got a generic e-mail response. Hey, better than nothing!
