I heard that they were going to move the Christmas Parade from Main Street (where it has ALWAYS been) to California Adventure this year, and discontinue the Electrical Parade. Anybody know anything about this?
What?? No snow on Main Street this year???

Yes, DCA is supposto get the Christmas Parade, but no worries, its still gonna be awsome, trust me! It never snowed on Main Street during the parade, so snowing will not be an issue, it will snow regaurdless...:icon_lol:

Yea... its comming to DCA, but I belive for only one year, so the Parade of Dreams can continue its nightly run durring the 50th.
I for one think its a great idea, cause hopefully it will bring more people over into DCA. I always thought DCA looked better at night then Disneyland did... and the Christmas parade will really make the park shine at christmas time. It also would be nice to see if they make it snow in sunshine plaza.... though i bet that would be harder since its wider then main street.

This rumor has not been confirmed by an official announcement from Disney company. It's moving therefore to the Rumor Mill...

I think that's a great idea. It's better than not doing a Christmas parade all together.

Ok, going a bit off topic here, but in the original posting it was mentioned that the Electrical Parade was being discontinued???? Can anyone enlighten me on that rumor??? I sure hope not, that is a favorite of mine since I was a kid & my kids got to see it for the first time at the end of June & they really loved it. Please say it ain't so......... :icon_cry:

According to the off season schedule that was released(I'm told it was released?) the electrical parade is taking a hiatus for refurbishment of sorts. Floats will likely be cleaned up. As for a rumor about it...some said that maybe when it went down for hiatus they'd rebuild a couple of floats like the pinocchio floats and the dwarves' mine but that remains to be seen(though the mine...i mean seriously it was a couple of wooden posts and a mostly open roof. It couldn't be that hard to make again).

I'm not sure this can be taken as an actual confirmation that the Christmas Parade will be moved from Disneyland to DCA this year, but today on Mouseplanet's weekly updates, this was written:
"The holiday parade will be moving from Disneyland to Disney's California Adventure in November and December."

Here's the latest on this particular subject from Al Lutz over @ MiceAge...
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
Speaking of the Entertainment Department, they are now rethinking their strategy for Christmas. The original plan was to ship Disneyland's Christmas Parade over to DCA this season, as sort of a replacement for the Electrical Parade. But TDA has now pulled back from that concept, and they might try to stage a four parade operation at Disneyland for the Holidays. The Parade of Dreams would continue twice per day, likely as the afternoon parade, and then the classic Christmas Parade would perform at least once per night, and possibly twice.
The Remember fireworks will continue in all their 50th glory through November and December, but with the requisite fake snowfall and "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" soundtrack at the end. Those entertainment plans are still up in the air, so we'll keep you posted. They really are trying to figure out how to keep the 50th momentum going, while still trying to placate the millions of locals who have made Disneyland their cherished Christmas tradition in the last seven or eight years.
And right around Christmastime they'll be putting the finishing touches on the Hollywood Pictures Backlot beautification project we'd told you about over a month ago. The construction work will begin in earnest just after Labor Day, and the new "studio campus" look will be unveiled the week before Christmas. The new Monsters Inc. dark ride is planned to be in soft openings by that week as well, so that little corner of the Resort will be hopping with Annual Passholders in late December for sure.
We're going to need a scorecard to keep up with this one. I really can't imagine the GC nightmare it would be to have nighttime parades AND Remember AND Fantasmic AND snow. Has anyone else heard of the word "overload"?

^ No, they still hate the locals. At least they did a year ago when they closed Millionaire because the audience had too many locals. *BS reason!* I know, I know...

I was at Disneyland over the Labor Day weekend and asked a cast member about the Christmas Parade situation. I was told that the parade will stay wt Disneyland and there will be two Christmas Fantasy presentations and one Parade of Dreams. Also, the garlands that hang across main street will not be there this year, since the floats for the Parade of Dreams are too tall. But again, we should all consider this a rumor until DIsney announces what they're going to do.

On DL's website the schedule for Nov. 23rd is up with the Christmas Fantasy Parade at 5:15 pm and 7:45 pm at DL. The Parade of Dreams is at 3 pm at DL. Hope this helps...

Something to take note of though is that during weekdays, even after thanksgiving(for now, the december schedule isn't up yet), there will only be 1 showing of each.
4:30 Parade of Dreams
6:30 Christmas Fantasy
7:45 Remember Dreams Come True
The parade will really lead right into the fireworks for the people on main street when they do that. The only thing disappointing about this schedule to me is that it doesn't allow Parade of Dreams to be seen at night just like throughout this summer. It gets dark earlier but they have the parade in the afternoon still.
I guess we'll have to wait for the holiday season to end, and then hopefully on weekends the 2nd parade is late enough that we get some nighttime PoD. =)
