I haven't seen it either, but I own the soundtrack. Kristen Chenoweth is one of if not my top favourite singer. Her control and vocal training is just amazing.
I love the song Popular, it's so cute!
i've always wanted to see the play but I never had a chance too. i never bought the soundtrack because usually i buy the soundtrack after I watch the play...

Reply. I've seen WICKED in New York (With Idina Menzel) and Soon to be in WICKED to Disney, since this is a Disney Forum...Stephen Shwartz who wrote the music to WICKED also wrote to Music to Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" theres a bit-o-trivia for ya!

I think I'll try defying gravity.
Wicked is currently at the Pantages, but this is its last week before moving off to San Fransisco for the national tour. My friend Candy will be seeing it. I'm EXTREMELY jealous. Another friend of mine will also see it once it comes to Boston. Agh! The theater world spites me!
It'll be back in Southern California next summer for San Diego and Costa Mesa. Hopefully I'll get to see it then.
More Disney trivia... Schwartz also wrote the lyrics for Pocahontas, Der Gl?ckner Von Notre Dame (which he worked with composer Alan Menken for both) and Gepetto. He also lent his music to The Prince of Egypt.

I love the soundtrack... I really want to see it. I saw Defying Gravity for the Tony's and Leno had the L.A. cast doing One Short Day.

I'm going to see it in SF on September 4! I'm so excited! Of course, it won't be the same without Kristin Chenoweth or Idina Menzel or even Michelle Federer (Nessa) but at least I'll get to see it. So exciting!

Ok, just wanted to bring this subject back up for a short time to let everybody know that I just got home from Wicked. If you have never seen this musical, you have got to see it. It is amazing! Actually, if you have not read the book, go read it. Right now. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. And don't worry, it doesn't give away the end of the musical.
I have never seen a show as beautiful as Wicked. I swear, I spent practically the whole thing hardly breathing. Either that or gasping. The sets or awesome and the costumes are absolutely stunning. You really feel like you are in another world. The actress we saw playing Elphaba (Eden Espinosa) was totally wonderful. She makes a beautiful Elphaba, and (I hate saying this but...) she's as good as, if not better than Idina Menzel. I didn't think it possible but she proved me wrong. I didn't really like Glinda as much, though. I really just felt she was too old. She really didn't fit for me. But she was good. She brought her own character into it, if you can understand that. And Fiyero was beautiful. Perfect. He's looks more the part to me than Norbert Leo Butz. But, then again, my image of Fiyero comes from the book so it is quite different from how most people think he should look. Once again, go read the book. He's gorgeous.
Let's see, what else can I say? Oh my gosh, the music... It was truly breathtaking. I mean, it was truly indescribable. There's just something about seeing it live. Kind of like a concert, you know? Except not quite. And there are these different spots where Elphie is doing these spells and she kind of sings them but it's in the background while somebody else is singing and it just sounded so... there aren't even words to describe it. It was just so magical and breathtaking. I want to go see it again. It's annoying that it's sold out in SF. I want to go so bad!
So, yeah, I give this show higher than an A+ and I know I sound like a commercial saying this, but if you're only going to see one show this year, it really ought to be Wicked. It is really worth the money. Oh, and if you want the book or original Broadway cast cd, don't buy them at the show. They are way too expensive. Get them from Amazon or Barnes and Noble or some other place. So much cheaper. Trust me. Oh, and just to warn you, the book is not quite as... clean as the musical. So I probably wouldn't let anyone under about 13 or so read it. In fact, if it were a movie it would be rated PG13. The musical, on the other hand, is a straight G. The really cleaned it up and gave it a happy (yet heart-wrenching and tear-jerking) Disney ending. Even if it isn't Disney.

Tell me more about this Ryan and this clip that he has...
And yes, it was amazing. I hope you can see it at some point because it is really worth it. What you need to do is pay attention at the official site: http://www.wickedthemusicaltour.com/tour_cities.htm for when it will be near enough that you can go and watch it until it says that tickets are on sale. As soon as tickets go on sale you need to get them. We ordered our tickets not too long after tickets went on sale and the shows were filling up frighteningly rapidly and all the shows were sold out before the newspapers and radio stations even started announcing that tickets were on sale. So you really need to pay attention because everyone wants to see this show and there aren't enough shows for everyone who wants to see it to be able to see it.
