Well, since I've only been to two of the four (Anaheim and Paris) I think I'd have to go with Paris, mostly just because I don't see it as often.

France has more of a story (the groom was hung by the phantom and she still searches for him) but I must admit if you want humor go to anaheim.

Ilike DL's Haunted Mansion, because it is the original and the only original. It has humor in it and they even enhanced the effects of the ride for the 50th. I love the music. Sometimes it gets stuck in my head, I have the making of the attraction and the history of it.

disneylands stretch room scene is scary when the light goes out and u see the hanging guy, it always freaks me out, but then its funny when the ghost host says, "i didnt mean to frighten you prematurely!"

and DL's music is awesome and original

To tell you the truth.....I've only been to the one in Orlando. But, I know a great deal about the others, still.

I say Orlando, because of the extra scenes.....

Ive only been to the DLR one :icon_conf , so I voted for the OG (Original) , im sure the one in Paris is better, but you cant help but to think of where it all started.

I've only been to the DLR one too....are there huge differences between all of them?

The phantom manor is a bit different, the story of the attraction is darker and yet creepier. Even the music is creepy, and different from all of them.

The one in Orlando has the same stuff, but it has a different layout from the original HM.

Our original is the only original, it opened first in Disneyland.

I appreciate the Phantom Manor mostly for its wonderful score and captivating story.
However, it's been neglected if you think about it when it comes to the effects and what not. But I have only seen a video, not experiencing it first hand.

I still admire Disneyland's classic for it holds the atmosphere greatly. I'll come to love it even more when Slave Labor Graphics distribute their Haunted Mansion comic later this October. (I LOVE Roman Dirge)

I was pretty disappointed in the HM in Orlando compared to the one in California. Actually, I was pretty disappointed in a lot of the fascia and queue construction in Orlando, very cheap compared to Disneyland.

In size, Disneyworld is MAMMOTH, and there are a lot of cool attractions there, but for my money, Disneyland is the GREATEST!

Disneyland is the greatest not just financially but also for your physical well-being. Disneyland has the superior versions of just about everything in about 150 acres instead of 47 square miles. That's a huge difference. Oh, and our Haunted Mansion's better too.

The phantom manor is very intriguing to me and I want to go on it. Tokyo Disneyland's is a clone of wdw's but with much better technology apparently, so I also want to go on that. I've only seen video from Tokyo's holiday mansion(yeah they have one heh. Nightmare before Christmas gets around i guess ;) if wdw gets one they'll just use tokyo's since their rides are clones)

If someone would kindly pay for me to fly to each of those 2 parks and visit disneyland I'd be happy to vote on here

Talk about bad timing, they will release the comic when Haunted Mansion Holiday layover is up. gonna be intresting for comic readers to want to ride the original when the overlay is up. Come back in January, but for now, re-live Jacks tale of decorating the decreptid manse with holiday cheer!

Disneyland's HM is the best for this simple reason, the atmosphere. Aside from being the oldest of the Disney mansions, it is set in New Orleans square the truest of Disney locations for a haunting. Just look at the actual history of New Orleans with it's voodoo and its gothic-victorian southern-antebellum influences. On "Royal Street" there is even a building that closely resembles, either intentionally or by chance, the LaLaurie mansion in New Orleans. Check out that story. Rumor also has it, although it was never proven, that Mdme. LaLaurie fled to a nearby plantation and set up residence in an antebellum mansion nearby. There is more evidence that the treacherous Mdme. Delphine L. fled to Paris. She was never found. I wonder if the imagineers considered this history when setting up New Orleans Square and the HM?

For the best unofficial Disneyland's Haunted Mansion go to www.doombuggies.com

It has a backstage tour about the attraction and musics and audios more than VF's audio and video stuff. But both of them are great.

Phantom Manor for the following visual reasons (my pics, my hosting):

Location! Location! Location!

Phantom Manor!
http://www.hoggettfarm.com/ftp/phantom.jpg

The gardens before the queueing are a great pre queue area

Wow! Look at this view from the rear car on the BTMR!

I also have a lot of narrative reasons that I'll have to go find somewhere on this site. **edit** oops, that was on the old forum. In a nutshell:

1. You walk through the front door to enter the attraction
2. Instead of falling down the stairs you fall into an empty grave and enter the underworld in a Frontierland theming!
3. It keeps enough of the original but becomes it's own attraction!

My favorite attraction... Tough Decisions (I could spend days saying many secrets of each mansion, but I will limit everything in this post.) First of all, I have been on the WDW abd DLR Haunted Mansions. I have to say I like the spooky, creeepy exterior of the WDW HM. I have to say I like its extra scenes, especially the library. There are minor differences within each mansion as I have done thorough research on each of them. The WDW Mansion has "Little Leota" overhead, for instance, before you exit your doombuggy. The DLR mansion has her next to the escalator after you exit your doombuggy at the the very end of the attraction. I do appreciate the queing line with the graveyard (which has a spectular, Madame Leota grave) before entering the mansion. The WDW mansion also has true ghost stories behind it whch make it interesting. I find the inside, including the stretching room and hallway, of the Disneyland Mansion much better. Both mansions have special stories behind them. Disneyland's exterior is far less creepy (instead is more relaxing). I love WDW's exterior though because I love its location, and I absolutely love history (even more than Disney! :icon_lol: ;) ).
Moving on to Paris and Tokyo:
I believe Phantom Manor is very unique and interesting in its own way. It definitely has a different story line and set-up as compared to every other mansion, but that is what makes it cool. I think the Bride/Phantom story is well-planned and fits in a spectacular way. It does have a very interesting and amazing soundtrack.
Tokyo, on the other hand, is basically a mirror version of the WDW mansion except for two stone griffins on either side of its entry gate. The Tokyo version is in Fantasyland (in Japan, ghost stories are considered fantasy). It has the extra scenes that Disneyland doesn't have as does WDW.
My vote goes to... WDW. Disneyland is a very close second! DLRP would be third, but it is too different from the others.

I chose Disneyland's HM. IMO Phantom Manor isn't the same as all the other mansions. It's completely different which is why it has a different name.

I have to say, DL's is great. I want to build a house with the specs of the outside facade. On the other hand I love the look of Paris DL's and saw the video. Theirs does have a little more evil to it and I want to ride it so bad.

The best one has to be in France because it is the one that makes the most sence. In this Hanunted mansion u no why the man hanged himself at the begging of the ride

PeoplemoverMatt
07-27-2005, 01:08 PM
^ We also know why Master Gracey hanged himself in the stretching room in both Disneyland and WDW Haunted Mansions.
