there are always complaints about people, but has anyone randomly done something simply out of the kindness in their heart?
on the 15th, the line for space mountain was 190 minutes when my friend and i reached the entrance. he wanted to go on it more than anything in the park, as our last ride. after seeing the line, we were standing there discussing if it was worth waiting in line for again. then, a man and his daughter (i believe, the man's name was jerry but i can't remember the daughter's name and im truly sad i can't... Lucy? aah it's wracking my brain!) saw my friend and i standing there. earlier, they had received one of those fastpass-like tickets since space mtn had broken down while they were in line, and asked us if we were only a party of 2. using his pass, he got both of us in line skipping over 3 hours of waiting and had a few lovely conversations. if he's reading this, thank you, we truly appreciated it.

I'm not sure if you're referring to other park guests or cast members, too, but I had a Cast Member do something totally kind for me last summer during our visit. Me, my husband and our 2 year old son were riding the Disneyland Railroad and it was getting dark out. My son was playing with his little Nemo rubber fish that we had just bought him and it accidentally bounced out of the train and onto the ground, right by that "Agrifuture" sign. My son started crying and we told the DL RR conductor, who's name was "Wolf" about what happened. He said he'd do what he could to find it. We figured he would never "find Nemo" hehe. Well, he went up there, in the dark, with a flashlight and walked that entire area of track until he found it! It was waiting for us at the Main Street depot the following morning. I could not believe how nice he was. Thank you, Wolf!!!

One day while waiting in line to buy tickets into Disneyland a family walked by my family (who were waiting for me outside of the line) and gave us their 5 day tickets which had 1 remaining day left on them. That was the first and only time we got into Disneyland for $0! That's the kindest thing anyone has ever done for us at Disneyland.

This one time when I was really little. I couldn't wait to ride the J.C. I saw that there was no line so I started to run to it. Well, I tripped and fell really hard. My hands and knees were all bloody. Then random people walking by gave my mom all this water, band-ads, wet wipes, and things to help. A cast member walked by and helped me walk to the first-ad station. The funny thing is, is that I wanted to go and ride more rides even when I was in pain. haha. People are so nice in disney.

Stupid guests... I love playing and talking to most of them, having light saber fights with little kids, and losing all the time, but just some people create a bad name for the rest of you. Same goes for APs.

I'm actually in DCA South Merchandise (Paradise Pier/Golden State), but since this is an insane summer, everyone is moving around a lot.
For instance, here's my schedule next week:
On July 24, I'm at Treasures in Paradise, on the Pier. On the 25th, I'm cross-training at Games of the Boardwalk (yay). Off on the 26th, On the 27th, I'm at DCA Strollers, at the Emporium on the 28th, Fly & Buy on the 29th, and back home in the Pier at T's Hats and Tats on the 30th.

I was about to post the same thing until I read this. I used to work in the Disney Store and know the trouble and hassle of retail. Anyway, I think the nicest thing someone has done for me in DL the VF group that waited in line and saved spots for us on Sunday morning (Thanks again all of you). Outside of that nothing really comes to mind.
on my last trip I wanted to tape everything. so when we in line, i didn't know about the countdown so when they started counting down, i rushed to get my camera but being only 5 feet tall, i couldn't really see anything. this family in front of me and my brother let us go in front of them so we could see. i thought is was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done. and they were about 5th in line. i return i gave the youngest member of the family a incredibles keychain I had on my camera bag cuz I could overhear here yell out "look the incredibles!" so yea

This past June when we were at Disneyland, we brought our German Shepherd on vacation because I couldn't bear to leave her home for 10 days.
We boarded her at the Disneyland Kennel during the day, and they told us they did not handle the dogs at all so we needed to come back often to walk her, etc. I figured, "well it's pure business here." Well, during the 5 days she was there, they gave her dog treats, talked to her during the fireworks so she wasn't scared, gave her certificates for being a good dog and on her last day, she got an autographed picture of Pluto! The cast members who cared for her were just awesome--especially Ginny. Her name tag said "class of 1968." I would bring my dog back there again in a heartbeat!

I had a family scoot over to give my family room for Fantasmic! (unlike the tarp cult that are there early and won't budge for anyone), I've had countless cast members offer help, but the one thing that sticks out the most in my head was one time when my mom and I decided to stay in the park for the late Main Street Electrical Parade. We knew that this was going to be the last time we would be able to see it before it left, so we wanted to make it good. We got an excellent spot, but we were there about 45 minutes early. One of the cast members working guest control started talking to us. This made the 45 minutes go by very fast. You guys rock!
Another story- this one happened to my brother. My brother loved Peter Pan, and, after we got off of Pirates of the Caribbean, all he wanted was a pirate soward and Captain Hook hat, but Pieces of Eight was out of both. Two teenagers had bought the soward and hat set and were walking around and play fighting with each other, and they saw that my brother wanted a set. One of the teenagers gave his set to my brother! That was so cool- the Disneyland politeness and cheer rubbed off on these two teenage boys.

New here and thought I'd jump right in! I used to be a passholder, about 10 years - we moved to the east coast so no longer a passholder :) - BUT after a year we will be back at the parks NEXT WEEK! Very happy!
We used to get the usual nice things from cast members when my girls were young - little treats, they were called princess, etc. As we were passholders and my girls got older, WE did the nice things - I used to buy the boquet of lollipops for the girls for the day - instead of eating them they would find crying kids and give lollipops to them (Of course I would ask the parent if it was okay) - my girls ALWAYS gave their balloons to crying kids -
We also, and probably still will, give up our seats to shows to the small ones - or we let families with small children go in front of us in line on some rides - it just depends on circumstances.
Because I was able to visit the park at anytime, those that couldn't would miss out - it will be much different, yet be the same next week - we are so used to the parks we will be the out of towners YET we still feel like locals - strange feeling

I've had people give up their fastpasses for me and my friend before, or let us go ahead in line when their family has like...10 and we have 2. But I really, really love to give then recieve.
Last time I was at Disneyland, it was July 15...SM opening, and my friend and I had fast passes for it at 10:30. Well, we got in line and even the fastpass was about a 30 min wait (much better then the 190 mins though...) and we noticed a BUNCH of people leaving the fastpass line! As they all left, about 3 families gave us their passes. In all, we had 23 passes...I know, that's ALOT of passes! And they were all in the 10:30-11:30 time frame. So I asked one of the CMs if it was alright that I get out of line and go over to the stand-by and give out the tickets. Well, for the next 10 mins, I was giving the fast passes to those with elders in the groups, larger families, and families that were only there that night and hadn't ridden it once that day. All in all, I got alot of thanks and smilies and it made me feel really, really good.

Thats so awesome Dayna! Good for you!
I dont go to the DLR enough to have real specific cases, so the nicest thing anyone has done for me at the DLR, would be the CMs always allowing me to have the ride seats I ask for (not that I am always asking for where I exactly want to sit...lol).

I think one of the kindest things someone ever did for me in DLR was when Splash Mt. first opened and me, my younger brother and my dad went on the ride. I was about 9 or 10 I believe and I did not want to get on the ride by myself. This girl and her two brothers in front of her heard me and felt bad so she told me that she would get on the ride with me so I wont be scared. I thought that was very nice of her to do.
What I did one time for a woman who had like 4-5 kids was back in 1996 me and my boyfriend at the time were sitting down waiting for the MSEP to start. This woman's kids were wanting to sit in the front so that when the characters walked by and shook the people's hands, they wanted to do that. The woman was explaining to them that people were in their seats before they got there and that they couldnt just go in front of those people because that would be rude. So both me and my boyfriend looked at each other and knew exactly what both of us were thinking, turned around and asked her if her kids wanted to sit in front of the both of us. The woman was very grateful and first said no, its okay...but we instisted that her kids do. That was one of the nicest things I ever did for someone at DLR.

True story: my visor flew off my head while riding thunder mountain...i was crushed and proceeded to the lost and found office only to find they were not going to do a ride sweep until after that days closing and we were leaving soon. I filled out my personal address information in hopes that should they find (according to the clerk semi-doubtful) it, it would be mailed to me.
About two weeks later: first class envelope stamped return address Disneyland, they mailed it to me for a cost of a little over $10.
Nice gesture!

My mom did that once, because we ended up going for four days instead of 5.
Seriously she did, but it was just my mom and I so it was not us. That is weird that other people do that, I think my mom was truly worn out from DL because we usually stay 3 days and we went in the park when they opened that day and did not take a rest until dinner. A lot of nice things have been done for me, on my birthday a waiter at Blue Bayou gave me a really pretty beaded necklace with some beads shaped like Mickey Mouse he made it, and I believe he did because I have never seen these in Disneyland. On my last birthday trip I was watching the parade and Alice was singing the UN birthday song, but she saw my b-day pin and said "well happy birthday to you”. I was so happy.Once I was in line for California Screaming and my mom did not want to go and I was scared, this lady and her daughter took me to single rider and went on with me,then helped me find my mom(I was 11 or 12).I also got to go on Indiana Jones 6 times with out getting off just because the ride stopped for 5 mins the CMs let the rest of the car go more, but I had to stop after 6.And once Cruella was nice!It was my birthday and I got on her good side by calling her a princess and letting her sighn my princess autograph book(all she did was cross out the other princesses faces.).The last thing I can remeber is the waiter at storytellers Cafe giving me b-day treats and making my lemonaid look extra special(I forgot what he did,but I remeber a mickey mouse shaped out of cherries.),and he also gave me a happy b-day pen.

A CM let me film fantasmic from a certain spot I wasn't supposed to be in which was nice =D I dunno about the morality of it.. she turned other people down who noticed me and asked why I got to be there and they couldn't.. but she said they're welcome to stand behind me in the same spot but couldn't spread out through the area(I'm purposely leaving this vague because of something it involves that I shouldn't be advertising. But it's honestly not as bad as that might have just sounded).
I guess an act of kindness is also how ESPNzone will validate your downtown disney parking evne if you didn't eat there ;) And how if you stay after park closing and it's later you often won't get charged for parking anyways.

I was at DLR this time last year, for a "by myself" trip. I stayed at the Grand Californian, and ate breakfast at the Storytellers Cafe. One waitress, her name was Cheryl, gave me the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. Even though I was dining alone, and it was very busy, she made me feel like she was taking special care of me. My glass of iced tea was never empty, everything was served to perfection, she checked back with me several times to make sure everything was ok -- in short, I felt like the princess of the restaurant.

CM's or other guests ?
CM's : One CM got me on stage at the Aladdin dinner show.
And she came in earlier before her shift and walked around
with us and rode with us.
Of course there's my friend Maynard...he goes on rides with us
when he's off shift.
Guests: I walked up to IJA fast pass machine and a lady handed me 9
fast passes, her large party decided to leave.
Another guest gave us Space Mtn. fast passes once.

I think I posted this somewhere else, but one year my little boy knocked my contact lens out of my eye in Fantasyland (after dark) and a CM came over IMMEDIATELY with a flashlight and found it within two minutes. Back then I had ONE pair of hard lenses that I cleaned every night so being without it would have ruined my trip. I was so grateful to that guy!

back to disney, i just like how you can sit whereever you want on a ride if you ask. i also like when random people you are waiting in front of or behind talk friendly to you, asking questions about the ride, since it is their first time to DL.
once my family went to DL with my cousins from utah.we totaled nine people. we got nine fastpases for space mountain and splash mountain. only four or five of us went on either one. while waiting in line, we gave away the extras to the people in the very back. bot times, the people were very gratefull and VERY happy. they thanked us a million times. is was fun just to see their faces when we offered.

When I was at Disneyland October, 2000 with my best friend and 6-week-old God-Daughter, we had her picture taken with each of the princess’, except Cinderella. We asked at the podium on Main Street where she would be and found out that she was not due out that day. The Cast Member took my God-Daughter's name and ours and told us to go to City Hall before we left for a package that would be waiting for us. I forgot all about it. I called Disneyland from the airport and they took my address and mailed me a beautiful 8x10 autographed picture of Cinderella for her.
One of the many reasons I love Disneyland.

In April when my friend and I were at Disneyland all week and we watched every performance of the "Parade of Dreams".
It got to the point where characters in the parade (i.e. Peter Pan, Mad Hatter, and some of Ursela's (sp?) evil fish) would recognize us and seek us out of the crowd.
Well they weren't the only ones to notice. It was our last day there and it was our last chance to see the parade. Seeing as how we stood in the same spots everyday we began to get to know a Cast Member named Dick who was an older, but very nice man. Dick made sure that on our last night we got front row on Main Street with no distracting people in front of us.
He told people that Disneyland was going to put stars where we were standing so that they'd be our spots forever.
CM Dick made the trip so awesome, and I can't wait to run into him the next time I'm there!

At California Adventure, there was a Cast Member and his name was Michael, and he looked EXACTLY like Richie Rich's father in the movie 'Richie Rich'. I was in the queue for the Maliboomer and several people had been saying, 'Look, it's Richie Rich's dad!!!'
Do any of you VF member know him?
I came up to him after the ride and asked him if he was Richie Rich's dad, and he says that I was about the third person so far that asked him that! And he was so nice!!
Later on in the day I returned to him and had conversations and towards the end he gave me a free disney pin for me being so sweet!
When I go back again at the end of this September I'm going to see if he is still there.
So do any of you who've worked in California Adventure know of him?

Back in 2005. A Indiana Jones Adventure cast member named: Steven helped me find my missing backpack that contains important items. He found it near the Skull Room part. Since it was so bumpy, it fell out from the ride, even it is in the middle! It was 12:15 am, when the park was closing. At midnight, IJA was our last ride for tonight. I went with Steven to look for my backpack. He also would let me take pictures of the ride with the emergency lights on. The track is huge, it is big, because the jeeps need lots of room to make the hydralics to move. It was fun.
The IJA cast members are cool and they are nice.

My friend works at IJA. :)
But anyway. I've had people give me FastPasses before. The nicest thing I've ever done for someone is a long time ago, I was about maybe 10. I was walking out of Big Thunder down that pathway by the Mark Twain/Columbia loading dock. I saw some guy about 100 feet in front of me drop a $10 bill, and I didn't want people to be stealing it away from him. So I took off into a run and picked up and then ran after him saying "Is this your $10?" And he was all surprised that I would give it to him and all happy when I did. He was all "Oh thanks!" :) I felt so good after that.
I also like to talk to people in lines (so I butt into conversations sometimes... -_-) and waiting for fireworks and stuff, and one time I was waiting for RDCT and these people behind us were talking about the Electrical Parade and they were like, what are you waiting for? And I was like the fireworks and they were like "oh, but fireworks are fireworks" and I was like... haha NO THEY'RE NOT. Anyway, they were all happy at the end when I told them to stay where they were (they had a good spot!) and... yeah.
I love having random conversations at Disneyland. :)

This is actually similar to what my wife and I do when we are at the parks. Often times we will buy 10 - 15 balloons from a vendor before a parade or as we are leaving the park. Then as we walk around we just give them to kids that look like need one. Perhaps they haven't quite seen the magic of Disney yet or maybe they just have a look of despair.
It tends to be a pricey bit of fun but to see their eyes light up is priceless. This is one reason I have always wanted to be a castmember. To help make that magic real for children and adults from around the world. It is unfortunate that Disney doesn't raise the pay scale for castmembers. they deserve more money.
