My favorite ride ever has always been Space Mountain (followed closely by the Matterhorn). I have been searching high and low for a complete video ride thru of this attraction. I know it was dark, but someone, somewhere HAS to have a home video of it. I got alot of video of the inside while waiting in line. I also have some inside, but at the time, my camcorder wasnt state of the art. I've got video of the new space mountain (paris), but I want Disneyland Space Mountain before it was shut down for refurb! Any help??? ;)

If you dont want to post, feel free to email me.

Well, a video might show up on the site a little after July 15th, but I'm not sure about version 1.0. It might come back after Visions Fantastic's site-wide refurb is finished, because sevral, in fact lots of videos have been removed from the site during it.

We've never had a full ridethru of Space Mountain. Long ago, DLS (Disneylandsource) had the first 45 seconds or so, but pretty much once you finish the lift hills, absolutely nothing shows up on the video. It's moving too fast and none of the effects show up. Nightvision merely illuminates the front of the car and you can't see much detail.

There is a fairly decent video making the rounds at www.mouseinfo.com (http://www.mouseinfo.com) (sign up is required). Somebody in their forums shot it and is making it available for download. (I'm not going to post a link because I don't want to crash their bandwidth).

Even in the new mountain, after the lift hill, you can't see a thing. The ending "effects" are quick and if you blink you'll miss them.

So to sum it up, there aren't a lot of videos of Space Mountain because none of them turn out. I'm sure RU42 is planning to shoot Space Mountain at some point, but I anticipate similar issues. Some attractions just don't transfer well to video and are truly visceral experiences (Like Indy, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain). What makes them special is not what you see but what you feel.

but you cant see anything after the second lift...you just get a cool version of the sound track with the screems of joy from the riders.

Almandot took the audio from his video, cleaned out the wind noise, and has created an awesome complete audio track for Space Mountain. This includes all lift-hill effects and re-entry. File may be downloaded here: http://www.matthewtoschi.com/space.mp3 and be sure to tell him great job!

Don't even try to tell me good job on that heh. It sounds ****py and live but it was just some random recording I did when I whipped out my camera at the last second.
