For me it is:

35% Walt the man
30% the feature length animation
25% the music of the parks and feature length animation
10% the cleanliness, order and consistency of the parks

To simplify it a bit, my obsession breaks down as follows:

50% for Walt Disney
40% for the parks
10% for the movies

Not wanting to break down into %, it goes like this:
Walt & Mickey (It was, after all, started by a mouse)
Disneyland (An American tradition)
The company (For everything it used to be and can be again if the higher ups pull their heads out of their, um, financial planners)

70%, The Magic of Disneyland
15%, Walt is a legend
10%, Characters
5%, Movies

I'm not going to try to break it down into percentages (mainly because I am not a big fan of math), but I feel I can sum up my Disney obsession in one word:

Quality.

Walt Disney created a legacy of demanding the best: in animation, in film, in his theme parks. Compared to other animation and movie studios, as well as many "imposter" theme parks, the Disney Empire stands out as a beacon of creativity, imagination and originality.

And it all started with a mouse...

I would have to say,
75% parks and attractions
15% Walt Disney
5% Disney movies
5% parades and shows

Complete escape from the outside " Real " world! Disneyland is the one place I have been to in my life where I completely forget about work, bills, orthodontia!, etc.

I really don't know

And that's the really wonderful thing about Disney. You don't have to know. Most of the time, although I do have my reasons, when people ask me why I love Disneyland or the Disney company so much, my answer is usually: Because it's Disney. That's it. Generally, it's either something you get or don't get.
And oh, those poor unfortunate souls who don't get it....
Probably wouldn't like churros either......

Well put. I could state more reasons why I have an obsession, but I like how you stated it.

70% Parks -- I was a big fan of all theme parks, and all amusment parks. I wanted to work for Arrow Dynamics (they made the Matterhorn, most of the early Disneyland ride systems, X at Magic Mountain), but X bankrupted them, so I thought that path looked dreary. All I needed was on August trip to Disneyland to get me wanting to be an Imagineer instead, and I was hooked.

5% Movies -- Ok, its not that much. But this thread is about why I became a fan, not where I stand now. Today, I have a bit more pride in the movies. But that 5% comes from the fact that I grew up on these flicks.

25% Walt Disney -- He is a living example of the American Dream. No matter how much reassuring the movies and parks do for the Dream, its his real life story that inspires me the most.

For those of that keep answering 'parks', I am about halfway through Mouse Tales http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/096406054X/103-8781706-4510220?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance and I don't want it to end!

Great, funny read on a behind-the-scenes Disneyland life.

Mouse Tales IS a great book. Read the second one! If you can get your hands on it (a new copy runs about $75, used, usually more) read The Nickel Tour by Bruce Gordon and David Mumford. It is hard to find. That's why the used ones can cost more. But talk about in-depth park coverage!

I would say I like Disneyland, perhaps that I even love it. Obsessed, no. But, I can tell you exactly why I love going there.

It reminds me of when I was a kid. It's also a good time in a great place, and it is SAFE to walk there and to be yourself. Unlike my neighborhood.
