Anyone here purchased "A Musical History of Disneyland" 50th Anniversary Boxed Set yet? (Item #61589) I'd like to know what other people think of it before shelling out that much money myself, and unfortunately the online Disney store doesn't do customer ratings like Amazon does.

I've purchased it, yes. Unfortunately, the darn post office lost my first set, and I am supposed to get my replacement expressed to me tomorrow, 6/29, so I will let you know then. The reviews have been awesome, though. I will say this much without listening to it: If you are a huge fan of Disneyland and can afford it, you should really consider purchasing it. If you think it costs too much, the CDs will be released without the vinyl book or snazzy case (September or October) and retail for 99.99.

What? The National version doesn't include the book? That sucks.

The National version will include the book, just not the Gold or Black LP of "Walt Disney Takes you to Disneyland".

The boxed set presentation is very nice.
Worth every penny.
I got mine from Disney Direct and it has the black vinyl.

I'd say if you have ever listened to VF radio or any other Disneyland sounds radio station or cd, and you liked what you heard there, then you will like this 6 CD set.
I purchased it, and have pretty much decided I'm not that person, and so I'll probably end up selling mine on ebay once the gold vinyl edition finally sells out completely. Hopefully I won't lost any money on the purchase that way, since it's an opened copy.

This reply got me thinking - I think the music of the parks (background area music and attraction music) is about 25% of my attraction to Disney. I'll go start another thread about that...

I just finished listening to it. I want to go back now!!!
Of course it does make one a little sad, listening to tracks of features that are no longer there...

Try main street music store. I think it retails around $125. The cheaper non-vinyl version will be available Sep or Oct for $99.
