There is a Golden spike in the middle of the paved road in Sleeping Beauty Castle that used to mark the Geographical center of the Magic Kingdom. On that note its kind of hard to miss. its still there.

Please reply!! :D If you want to know more about Disneyland, you might keep an eye on the "Disneyland Trivia" game in our games area. You might also check out the old triva game on the old boards (while they're still around). Some fascinating stuff there...

In fact, here's one I used from the old boards:

All the little gold ornamentations on the spires of "It's A Small World" are EXACT replicas of the charms on the charm bracelet owned by Imagineer Leota Thomas... who many of us know as "Madame Leota" and the miniature bride at the exit of "The Haunted Mansion". The other imagineers were so "enchanted" by her charm bracelet that they decided to use the figures on the building they were all working on designing!

This is a popular notion (often perpetuated by cast-members). However, it is neither the center of the park nor is it a spike. It's a survey marker. This particular one designates the centerline of Main Street.

Here are some intresting facts about Space Mountain. I was watching a small documentary on our CAST TV. I was watching an imagineer being interviewed, and he was saying that most of the effects of the 1977 classic were done right out of the imagineer's mouth. I found that quite suprising personally. Also, he was saying that the rumbling that comes from the rockets is the word WED sped up and repeated many MANY times over. For those who don't know, it means Walter Elias Disney.

Switching subjects completely here....

The steam trains at DL are real steam driven locomotives. They burn a diesel-like fuel, which emits the nessesary pressure for the biolers, which creates stem which drives the locomotives foward. On a dark day or even better, at night, you can see a considerable glow coming from the bottom front of the locomotives. That glow is /not/ fake.

The underground city is underneath Magic Kingdom - WDW Orlando.

Hyperion I couldn't understand what it was you were communicating there about Space Mountain other than trying to sound like you knew more than anyone else about everything. If you could clarify, that'd be great, thanks.

Did you know that 2 of the Indiana Jones animatronics are hydraulically operated. Also Indy's clothes are made out of rubber fabric. Because if he wore real clothes, it would not look right when he moves. When he has rubber fabric clothes, it would look realistic, when he moves. So when it leaks oil, the clothes won't be wet. Indy looks sweaty on the gates of doom and the finale, just look closely or take a picture of him, at the end of the ride.

Indy hanging on the rope is actually Pneumatic operated, because it would drip oil on guests, if it is Hydraulic operated.

Disneyland is 50 years old.

Lol...sorry...I had to do that one. Um...I heard somewhere that the truck in Indy's outdoor queue is the exact truck from Raiders of the Lost ark, where Harrison Ford does the fight scene/stunts/tries to get back the Arc.

I have two facts....

In WDW, did you know that, on the Jungle Cruise, the guy on the bottom of the tree, just above the rhino, has the same face as the caretaker from the Haunted Mansion?

Also, did you know that, in both American versions of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, many animals from the old "Nature's Wonderland" mine train ride can be seen, such as a possum hanging from a tree, a coyote, rattlesnakes, vultures, skunks, tortoises, a bobcat "treed" on a cactus by wild boars, and a roadrunner battling a rattlesnake?

No way?! Does anyone have a pic of it? Where on the ride can you see it? Is it very obvious? Hidden in plain site? If that is true I have got to see this next time I go.

Fowler's Dock, the dry dock on the Rivers of America, is named after the man who not only designed it but fought Disney to have it put in. Disney thought it was unnessasary and called it Fowler's Folly until opening day when the Mark Twain was swamped and had to go to the dry dock for repairs during open hours. Walt's appology was to call it Fowler's Dock.

(I read that in the History of Disneyland):p

The clock that is shaped like a demon isn't really shaped like a demon as such but there are teeth on the top and bottom of the clock face

There are shipless sails in New Orleans Square. I found this out from a CM AFTER I put my camera in my locker: as you look down new Orleans Square from Adventureland (near the entrance to Pirates Of The Caribbean) along the roofline of Orleans St you can see sails sticking up above the roofline

The "Endless Hallway" in the Haunted Mansion is only a few yards long. The floating Candelabra isn't reflected in the mirror that gives the hallway its' "endless" look because the backside of it is painted black. So simple, yet so effective!

The Snow White and the 7 Dwarves sculptures by her Wishing Well right outside the Castle were all made the exact same size. In order for it to look like Snow White was in fact bigger than the dwarves they used forced perception by putting Snow White higher up and further back from the dwarves.

Also...I have only heard this, because I've never been to Walt Disney World I don't know if it's true or not, but they say PotC in WDW is haunted by a ghost named George. If anyone says they don't believe in George before going on the ride or while on it the ride breaks down. Someone try it out sometime!

I have also read, that Walt Disney recieved those marble statues from Italy, with no return address, and no name. By time John Hench wrote his book in 2003, he never mentioned that they found the sender.
