Before I begin, this is definitely not pertaining to Kevin Bacon (although, it can be if you want it to ). So basically, me and my buddies play this game whenever we can because of our insane amount of movie knowledge. We don't use imdb.com or any other form of help, this all comes from memory. With that said, I would like to share it with you VF!!!:biggrin::biggrin:
All you need to do is link 2 separate actors with no more than 6 movies. For instance:
Will Smith to Robert DeNiro
Will Smith was in I Robot with Shia LaBeouf (1)
Shia LaBeouf was in Transformers with Jon Voight (2)
and Jon Voight was in Heat with Robert DeNiro (3)
Alright, now it's your turn!
George Clooney to Bruce Willis
On a final note though, with total disregard for the 6 degree limit, I currently hold the record for the most ridiculous connection ever...
Hulk Hogan to Marlon Brando:
Marlon Brando was in The Godfather with Abe Vigoda (1)
Abe Vigoda was in Good Burger with Kennan Thompson (2)
Keened Thompson was in Snakes On a Plane with Samuel L. Jackson (3)
Samuel L. Jackson was in Pulp Fiction with Bruce Willis (4)
Bruce Willis was in Planet Terror with Josh Brolin (5)
Josh Brolin was in No Country For Old Men with Tommy Lee Jones (6)
Tommy Lee Jones was in Batman Forever with Jim Carey (7)
Jim Carey was in The Mask with Cameron Diaz (8)
Cameron Diaz was in Charlie's Angels with Crispin Glover (9)
Crispin Glover was in Back to the Future with Christopher Lloyd (10)
and Christopher Lloyd was in Suburban Commando with Hulk Hogan (11)

Geroge Clooney and Bruce Willis are both in Ocean's Twelve. Am I supposed to connect them in some other way or am I missing something?
stitchhead28
04-21-2008, 08:14 PM
^ No, you did it perfectly. That's it! One degree. I made the first one easy on purpose. Now, it's your turn to choose two different actors for someone else to connect.

Alright. How about Ben Stiller to Cuba Gooding jr.
ghoofie
04-22-2008, 02:11 PM
Wow was I ever wrong about that game. I thought it was tying people to who other people know. For example, I can place me to Prez. Bush with one person. I know congressman George Miller, who knows Prez Bush. Something like that. I didn't know it was movies. :)

Yeah, you got it. And to answer everyone's question, it is possible to play this game to link yourself to someone famous, but since then I realized that linking celebrity's to one another actually helps training analytical thinking.
How about this one...
Eddie Izzard to Ving Rhames
SilentMickey

Eddie izzard is on the Riches with Minnie driver who was in Grosse point blank with john cusak who was in con Air with Ving Rhames.

Typically we don't use TV shows, but if it gets the job done, then it's totally cool .
Anybody want to give the next one a shot? (In creating one that is?)

I think that km2435 should post the next one since he got my Ben Stiller/Cuba Gooding jr. one.

Are we allowed to use directors as a Degree?
No. Sorry, you're only supposed to use actors.
The rules that we have are (I'm sorry I totally should have stated this earlier):
You can only use movies and TV shows.
Crew and production teams don't count (actors only please).
You must link the 2 actors in 6 degrees or less (unless specified by the person who names the 2 actors to link).
ANY movie counts, even if it is a straight to DVD or TV movie.
Since I forgot the rules, I'll accept yours. Next challenge:
Marlon Brando to Hugh Laurie (In this case, I'll accept more than 6 degrees)
SilentMickey
04-23-2008, 02:05 AM
That's an easy one Brando was in Apocalypse now with Dennis hopper who was in speed with Jeff Daniels who was in 101 dalmatians with Hugh Laurie.
Harrison Ford to Paul Newman.

Starting New Game Threads (http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3653)
I'm all for it. It looks like fun.
But as a discussion, I find it really interesting. It's not necessarily just show business either. In theory you are six degrees from anyone on earth. Each of us knows someone who knows someone, etc.
Just off the top of my head...
Ezra to Steve Martin:
My cousin Michael Hanna ran a magic shop in Tarzana, and is a member of the Magic Castle (a private club for magicians).
The act currently playing at The Magic Castle is Dana Daniels and Luigi, the "psychic" parrot.
Dana Daniels used to perform at The Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland, and subbed for Wally Boag.
Wally Boag mentored a young Disneyland CM who aspired to be a comic, named Steve Martin.
Ezra (1) > Michael Hanna (2) > Dana Daniels (3) > Wally Boag (4) > Steve Martin (5)
In theory, If I really really really wanted to communicate with Steve Martin... I could pick up the phone and call my cousin, and say "Can you put me in touch with Dana Daniels?" and work from there... If I'm persistent and all parties are willing, I could get to Steve Martin.

Why not just shorten that one a bit. Ben Stein was in Ferris Beullers Day Off With Matthew Broderick who was in The Producers with Nathan Lane. Come to think of it... Nathan Lande and Broderick were also together in the Lion King.

Here is an interesting one.... Can you connect Eddie Murphy and Ewan McGregor?
I'll have the answer for you in a bit. And its a doosie.
SilentMickey
04-24-2008, 12:34 PM
Eddie Murphy was in shreck with mike Myers who was in Goldmember with Tom Cruise.
Mr. Cruise was in days of thunder with Nicole Kidman who was in Moulin Rouge with Ewan McGregor.
hows that Kodiak?

I'll do you one better. Eddie Murphy was in Beverly Hills Cop 3. A gray bearded director known as George Lucas makes a 2 second long cameo in this film. Mr. Lucas also makes an appearance in the Coruscant Opera House Stairway scene in Star Wars Episode 3. Ewan McGregor, of course, is Obi Wan Kenobi in that same film.

John Turturro to Heath Ledger (God rest his soul)
kodiak
04-24-2008, 01:49 PM
I think its fun to try to connect a golden age star to a current one. That really demonstrates a mastery of film.
Like... try to connect Bogey or Jimmy Stewart or one of the Hepburns to a current star. Those are tougher.

Thanks Cavemandon.
Okay John Tuturro to Heath ledger.
This one took me eight hours I saw it when you posted it and it just hit me an hour ago as I was driving home from dinner.
J.T. was in Mr. Deeds with Steve Buschemi,
who was in Pulp Fiction with Tim Roth,
Who was in The Million Dollar Hotel with Mel Gibson Who was in the Patriot with Mr. Ledger.
The Million Dollar Hotel You ask? don't bother looking it up it's a really bad movie. I liked it but I'm a big U2 fan.
Harrison Ford to Paul Newman.
Tell_No_Tales
04-25-2008, 12:05 AM
^ that was more than 6. After Roth to Gibson you would of added 2 more degrees for Gibson and Ledger. Unless I don't fully understand the rules. What happen to Harrison Ford to Paul Newman? I have an answer to that but I don't want the game to start branching off into more directions.
SilentMickey
04-25-2008, 12:18 AM
It Goes by Movie. Each movie counts as one Degree So the Degrees in the last one would be: Mr.Deeds, Pulp Fiction, The Million Dollar Hotel, and The Patriot. So that Would be Four.
Your Right About the Harrison Ford to Paul Newman question. I edited my Last Post to Reflect this. Fire Away.

You always want to try to get to a character actor or somebody who appears in a lot of enemble movies. Like if you can trace somebody to like... Rat Race or one of the Oceans movies... or the lion king... you have pretty much a free ticket.

That's what I realized when me and my friends started playing this a while ago. We call them "Wild Cards" because they've been in so many movies. The most common wild cards we use are Samuel L. Jackson, Jack Nicholson and Arnold Shwarzenegger.
Okay here we go...
Marlon Brando to Tony Todd
Hint: Tony Todd played the antagonist in Candyman (1995).

^ You're welcome! Me and my friends play this all the time whenever we're at any park waiting in line for a ride or waiting for a show. Even in our spare time we do it just for the heck of it. It's really fun if you get into it and have to go off of memory completely.
As far as Peter Jackson goes, he likes to have small cameos in all of his movies and will do oddball roles if asked to. Like I know he was in Hot Fuzz as the guy dressed as Santa who stabbed Simon Pegg in the hand at the beginning of the movie. And don't worry, sometimes you'll be absolutely stumped, then just get it all of a sudden.
Alfred Hitchcock to Tim Blake Nelson (This one is pretty hard, so I'm allowing more than 6 if needed)
