I just found out what some of the upcoming titles are.

October 2008: Sleeping Beauty.

March 2009: Pinnochio.

I also heard that they will possibly release Fantasia as a Platinum Edition too, but for now that's just a rumor. Does anyone else collect these?

I collect them, but I didn't get the first couple i.e, Snow White and Beauty and the Beast, because I thought I didn't need them. Unfortunatley, these are no longer avalible in stores.

I love the Platinum Editions! Next is 101 Dalmatians, and I thought I heard a rumor a while back that they will release a new PE of Snow White. Pinocchio will be a welcome addition to the line.

Look on Amazon.com

They have an option to buy them used. Look for the ones listed as 'like-new' and 'new'. I get a lot of my DVD's this way.

I haven't collected them. However, I think I will start my collection with 101 Dalmations and try to collect all platinum editions from there.

I don't "collect" them in the sense of deliberately wanting the Platinum Editions... I really just want the movies and certain of the special features (old promo reels, extra 'toons, Disneyland episodes, etc.). I'll get the movie however it comes out, whether it's Platinum Edition, Special Edition, Friendship Edition, Masterpiece Collection, Treasures, Legacy Collection or whatever meaningless appellation.

I'm so glad that Sleeping Beauty is being rereleased... I missed a lot of films as recently as it's last release because I couldn't accept being into Disney quite SO much to spend that much money on getting the DVDs rather than just buying cheap old VHS. I wish I could go back and pick up that, Snow White and a bunch of the first two waves of Walt Disney Treasures. I did recently get Snow White off of Amazon, when the Canadian and American dollars were at parity, but debated with myself whether I wanted to get Sleeping Beauty more, since I'm a bigger Sleeping Beauty fan. Thankfully I'm not missing out, with the Platinum Edition coming out!

I just hope that it has at least the same extra footage as the Special Edition: Grand Canyon, The Peter Tchaikovsky Story, etc. I'd be choked if it didn't, and might have to take the opportunity to scour Amazon and the pawn shops for copies of the previous release. I reject this whole Blu-Ray business, since I'm a cheap hold-out on entertainment technology... I'm not picking up a Blu-Ray player until they absolutely force me to, kicking and screaming.

I probably won't pick up Pinocchio, since I do have the previous release of it. Fantasia I probably would... I did finally find a second-hand DVD that didn't cost me an arm and a leg, but since it's my favorite Disney film, I'd probably have a lot to gain by a Platinum Edition, 2-disk copy.

I usually buy only the ones I don't already have on DVD, unless the extras are that more significant. They already did a pretty decent release of Sleeping Beauty, so I doubt I would buy that one. However, depending on the features of both that and Fantasia, I would re-purchase. I have Pinocchio on a pretty bare bones extra free release, so that one....definitely.If they do release Fantasia as a Platinum Edition, I would hope they would keep the feature that I love most from the previous release - the running commentary from Walt Disney. They pieced together old interviews from him and featured it as a commentary. Interesting stuff. I would buy every new edition of the movies I already own if they were to do this with more classics.

I'm getting Pinocchio. I do have the first one, but as they say, "There is room for improvement."

I've gotten all of them, BTW. I've been especially anxious to get the Peter Pan one, as the only other version that I had was the 1990 VHS.

Also, as I got the DVDs, PE and otherwise, I simply felt the VHSes superfluous, so I got rid of them as the new DVDs of them came out.

I am very excited about 101 Dalmations. I watched the "Making-Of" feature last night, it was really nice, but kind of sad that Walt Disney like the stylized version of the movie.

I would definitely get Sleeping Beauty. Not only is it my favorite movie but I didn't get it on DVD last time cuz my sister did but now that she's out of the house I need my own.
