Disneyland will be built in Krasnoyarsk by 2012. It was announced by Krasnoyarsk deputy mayor Anatoly Grigorenko at the news conference on October 30. Grigorenko said it was planned to build the children park in the area of Northern Highway, which held much promise for construction.

The investor of the project is a Moscow company, Grigorenko reported. "It will be a big children entertainment center with side-shows and merry-go-rounds under one roof," Anatoly Grigorenko noted. Construction of Disneyland is expected to start next year and last for three years.

This sounds like one of those cheap imitations like we saw in other places in the world a while ago. The description is some merry-go-rounds n' stuff 'under one roof'. Doesn't sound like much, whoever's behind it.

LOL One would think Disney would have made an official announcement long before a mayor of some city would have. Thank goodness it's a rumor. Not that I would be against a Disneyland in Russia, it just doesn't sound like it's Disney from the description.

I think it's just a rumor...

You know the information is good because a mayor in a small Russian town says so...

Side shows and merry-go-rounds? I thought Disney called merry-go-rounds "Carousels." I wonder what the Russian side shows would be like... that kind of scares me.

By the way, this is a translation of a piece from a Siberian newspaper. Can you imagine? Syberia Disneyland? :icon_roll Anyway... I assume that Disneyland is being used eupemistically, just to mean "theme park". But, it's going around the internet because of Jay Rasulo's remarks about wanting to create smaller "niche market" parks and indoor enertainment facilities. Somehow I doubt he planned to start in Syberia.

By the way, indoor isn't necessarily a bad thing. Dubailand is building an enormous indoor ski area (http://www.skidubai.com/dubai/mountain-ski-dome/) — in the tropics! Pretty cool...

Makes a lot of sense. But I think they should be more careful about how they use phrase things. Especially if they are saying it is a Disney Park. But again you did say it is a translation from a Siberian News Print so some things could have been taken out of context.

And Holy Moly! That Ski thing is going to be MASSIVE! LOL
