I've always wondered what the pros were for staying at a deluxe hotel... (except the obviously luxurious atmosphere and environment) <is that it?

Okay, so the service might be better(?), but don't you pay extra for services anyway? ;p

And about the animal kingdom lodge...
1) are there points in the hotel where you can view the savanna?
2) can you pet the animals? (is that a stupid question? ;p)
3) how does the morning safari thing work? (do you pay extra?)

I appreciate any help I can get :)
Thank you! :mickey:

Okay, First if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you get to take advantage of "Extra magic Hours" which means the park opens an hour early ...JUST FOR YOU.

Also:

1. You don't actually see into the Park from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The animals you see are in a different zone away from the Safari tour. And I don't think any carnivores are near the lodge either.

2. No, you cannot pet the animals. They are still wild and carnivorous or not they can still be dangerous and humans can be dangerous to them.

3. As I have not actually stayed in that hotel, couldn't answer this one....

If you do stay there, though, have fun. You will really enjoy it.

When you read this, keep in mind that I have only stayed at POLY on site & it's subjective from a person who likes to rest from the parks during the afternoon.

I found that yes, service probably is better than the value hotels but for me it's the monorail service that hooked me. Loved that you could immediately travel back & forth from Epcot & MK to rest via monorail. Never seemed to wait more than 3-5 min. The bus system seemed to be a bit slow for me. You had to wait maybe 15 min for a bus & sometimes you made stops along the way to where you wanted to go. Plus to me, monorail seems more interesting to ride than bus.

I think that maybe you should try to pick a hotel closest to where you think you would spend the most of your time. That way, it's easier to get back if you need a break. However, if you're the type to spend all day in the same park morning to close, then value might be better since the room is used minimally.

Now about AKL:
1) yes, there are savanna view rooms.
2) no, you may not touch the animals.
3) yes, you pay extra about $55 plus have to stay concierge level for the sunrise safari. But I think, am not sure :icon_ques, any deluxe hotel concierge level. There's a sunset type safari that's only meant for AKL concierge people that's about $100 more.

I'd love to do the sunset or sunrise tour one day.

Hope this helps a little.
