I figure there haven't been any new ones lately so we should start some. How about one about a transcontinental Monorail connecting DLR and WDW with sleeper cars and dining cars and all........
Sound good? Then you can say you heard it first on VF.

Cool idea, but It won't happen. Sure someday there may be a transcontinental monorail, but i'll tell you it won't be owned by Disney.

^^ Oh come on let's have fun with this that's why I put it in the rumor section. Can you imagine the possibilities?
The TOTAL Disney vacation package includes airfare into LAX where you will spend 3days and 4 nights at the beautiful Disneyland Hotel. 3 Days unlimited admission to DLR and DCA.
Then board the Monorail for your 5 day trip to Orlando, FL and the Walt Disney World Resort, where you will spend 7 days exploring the 4 theme parks and 2 exciting water parks, plus the excitement of DisneyQuest.
Finally board a luxury bus to Cape Canaveral where you will join the Disney Cruise for 7 days and nights to Castaway Cay.
Man the accountants would leap for joy at the possibilitie of being able to charge like $6000 double occupancy for this kind of thing, and I bet people would pay it.

If I had an idea of a transcontinental Monorail, I would probably put it in the Imagineering board, not make a rumor of it and put it in the Rumor Mill, and who knows, possibly confuse people to believing it.

The "rumor" mill is just that....a rumor don't believe it.

A rumor is something that can be slightly believable and can be suspected to happening.
A transcontinental monorail, you made that up, so it's not a rumor, plus it sounds too fake for this day and age, plus the money that would take.

Rumors are supposed to have basis in fact and/or be slightly believable, but not yet confirmed. This is an idea off the top of your head, and should be in 'So, You Want to be an Imagineer?'
Also, with monorails costing millions of dollars per mile, it's an entirely impractical idea.

I thought people would understand both. My apologies for overestimating. I also thought people would get a laugh and have some fun.
So I guess we can lock this thread since no one seems to get it.

Actually it isn't millions per mile, probably just 3/4 of a million per mile. Also they have a more effecient system. http://www.magnetbahn-bayern.de/ENGLISH/english.html
The Mag LEV. A recent test was done on a new system, a train that can travel at speeds of 250 mph. It uses magnets to hover above the track, which means zero friction between the train and the track. Also magnets pull the train toward itself, then PUSH the train away from it. I highly doubt disney can afford such a system, but its nothing the government won't look into. Maybe a different route, but im sure they have already looked at this.
Have you heard of.....airplanes?

Have you heard of.....airplanes?
Have you heard that were running out of fossil fuels? The mag lev runs on electric, which does run on fossil fuels currently, but when those fuels run out, we can have power plants that run on other stuff. There isn't a commercial jet engine that runs on electric. I agree this is an odd place for such a rumor, as these rumors are the kind that are Disney related and stuff that will happen within the next five years, we won't run out of fossil fuels in five years (hopefully) so such a monorail isn't needed. If anywhere this should be in So you want to be an imagineer.

If you have ideas, VF has the So You Want to be an Imagineer? Forum. That's where discussion of these kinds of ideas belongs.
Making up rumors just adds to confusion, and a post taken out of context could be mistakenly read. The whole 'you heard it first on VF thing' isn't necessary. Our goal with any internet site is not to conceal and horde information to ourselves, but to increase the awareness of the masses. Of course that all depends on the reliability of the information. Making up stuff simply to call it a rumor is completely opposite of what we want to do here.

That wasn't the point, it was simply a JOKE. That has gone on too long and no one got it. The threads here had been dead and I was trying to liven them up. Please lock this thread.
