View Full Version : Should Carousel of move to Epcot?
Since Wonders of Life is going to be demolished next year,I think it might be a good idea to move Carousel of Progress from Tommorowland to a new Show Building on WOLs former site. I think it would make a lot more sense thematicly than in todays Tommorowland which is more Sci-Fi land than a Showcase of the future which Epcot is.
What do you guys think?

I haven't been to WDW since 1983, but isn't the Carousel of Progress in a round building that spins?

Yeah I'm afraid of that move
The attractions in that area have the unfortunate tendency to be shut down after a while (remember Horizons or the World of Motion)
We wouldn't want to risk losing Carousel of Progress too
That would be a real shame

I dunno I have mixed feelings..I think it was be more visible if it was out in the open at Epcot and would kind of fit there. But park of me says its been a MK Staple for soooo long it just wouldnt "feel" right any other place. it does need something though or its gonna go by the way of the Dodo. maybe a fun staging area or post ride area like SSE is getting

I voted no because it is a Disneyland/Magic Kingdom Original. And If it leaves MK , We don't want to risk another Pixar ride being built.

It actually debuted at the 1964 Worlds Fair And Epcot is a permanent Worlds Fair and with Pixar invading Tommorowland as you said I think it would be more appropriate in Epcot. Unfortunately Tommorowland gave up its original mission long ago.

Well, I think that the theme of progress fits best in Epcot. MK's Tomorrowland is not about the practicalities of tomorrow, it's about sci-fi. Epcot's Future World is EXACTLY what Carousel of Progress is all about, is it not? So it would fit best there.
Ideally I would like to see a move to Epcot that involved a new version of the ride. Update that last scene or perhaps find a way to add in a 1960s-1980s scene or something. A new home might also mean better care. WDW management is horrible at keeping up their attractions, and CoP has suffered.
I remember reading a while ago somewhere there was a blue sky plan to create a walk-through attraction based on CoP at Epcot. But this is WDW and it sometimes takes forever to do something.

I say yes because (I'm not sure how it is now) but I remember it opening seasonally or being closed at times (besides for renavations). Maybe it could stay open at Epcot so other Disney characters couldn't invade the ride likecertain Disney rides.

I am aware of all the following.
Now I changed my mind and yes because of the fact WDW's tomorrowland is doin' bad. Epcot would be a proper place to put it and It actually fits the theme!
And I speak for everyone when I say we need something non-pixar being built

I can see it at Epcot now:
A giant building reading "Walt Disney's Carosel of Progress." People in line to see the show. Part of the building is the show. Part of the building is the exit at the end: AN EPCOT MUSEUM! It all ends in a museum of Disney's original plans and concepts for the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorrow!!!! Then it has models and layouts from then and when Epcot was being opened as a theme park.
I thought it would be a great idea since the show is about new technology through the years.

I am fine with it moving or staying, as long as it isn't killed. Though an old attraction, I enjoyed it.

I said no.
Keep it in Tomorrowland. Why waste time and money to take apart the attraction, move it, rebuild it, and then turn around to update it?
Just leave it where it is and do a major update. The entire show should be reworked.
Yes, it is a classic but it needs to be changed to truly represent the future.
The time and effort that could be invested into the attraction could make it better than it is now. The Carousel of Progress has not made progress since the '80s.
Time for a major refurb......please no Disney characters. ;)

They actually already have a mini-Epcot museum in Innoventions West now for the 25th. I really hope it stays longer and maybe it can become a preview center for future Attractions like the one coming to DCA soon.

I say yes. The carosel should be moved to epcot. The whole point of epcot is how we have progressed and now moving tward the futur. Spaceship earth is a good example of this. It would get more people to actually vist the artaction. I mean when was the last time you saw a hour long line? We need to chang it up but still keep this classic concept. It a beautiful attraction, so can you imagin the possiblilities imagineers can do to it. I say yes right away.
