I just got The Disney Mountains: Imagineering at its Peak by Jason Surrell and on page 25 there is concept art for a Switzerland pavillion at Epcot featuring the Matterhorn which was never built. I was wondering do you think it would be a good idea to build it now? It would not make sense to me, now that we already have a ride featuring a Yeti(EE).

No, we already have Everest here. How about if there's a ride like an actual "trackless" bobsled coaster themed to an olympic bobsled championship on a snowy mountain and has a fanale where the coaster weaves through a Swiss town?

Bad.
Some things need to be in only one park - the Matterhorn is one of them.

Bad idea! It'll make sense on EPCOT, but as Magic1 said, Matterhorn needs to stay on Disneyland and Everest on WDW

Isn't that part of the Matterhorn's stigma, that it's unique to only Disneyland?

Yup, very bad idea.

It'd be a great idea if it was in Animal Kingdom. I mean think about it, you'd have the Yeti, there's already an Asian-themed land there, and there's a huge open space on the way to Dino-Rama. It would be a great E-ticket for Animal Kingdom.

Oh wait...

I think they should have left Space Mountain only at WDW, I mean that was such a WDW thing and the first time I saw DLR's, WOW I though it was a toy......

Seriously, I think it is a great idea to have unique attractions for each park, but keep in mind many things have gone to both parks and it turned out not to be too bad. Part of the mystique of Disney parks is originality so that when attractions moved into different parks, there was also a slight or major modification. It gets tough to figure out though, because it is easy to let sentiment affect our thinking. We like things the way they are and don't want them to change, and yet change has happened, sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.

^ Yes, but Disney has said outright that the Matterhorn is strictly a Disneyland thing. No other park will have it.

Space Mtn was not originally intended for WDW, I have a book about Disney Imagineering and it has original concepts from John Hench for Space Mtn from 1965 I believe, and said something about Walt wanting it for DL, but with Walt´s passing some things changed

Sorry but i cannot see or even accept a Matterhorn being built in Epcot , where would it be built next to Test Track or on one side of the lake , Also , When are we here in Anaheim gonna get our Test Track , I love that attraction !

Yeah, I agree. Matterhorn is unique to Disneyland and should not be cloned to Walt Disney World. You guys have Everest.

I absolutely aggree with the first part of your posting,
not too much with the second part... but in THIS sense: it was better that Disney NEVER, NEVER had copied his LAND into another park. :)
WDW Magic Kingdom would have been a 100% unique vacation destination for West-coasters, and DL Anaheim would have been same for East-coasters... NOW, it is just a would-be destination for both.

-------------

Just an idea for "Kilimanjaro Safaris"... Why not introducing an absurd-humour element there: an icy IGLOO village, surrounded by some Iceberg's... (....... I know this is not in Epcot, but I don't see that kind of joke in Epcot...)

Not a good idea. The Matterhorn must remain unique to Disneyland! We already have Expedition Everest, and Mt. Fuji Japan ride would be much better.
