Does anyone know if Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D will be coming back this october? I looked on Wikipedia it said it was going to be shown for October 19th 2007 again. Can anyone confirm this? I'd really like to see this version because I never saw it the first time!

IMDB shows that it is being released internationally in 3D in 2007, so I'd say it's safe to speculate that a simultaneous USA (re)release will occur on October 19 (Link (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107688/releaseinfo)).

Also, my local Regal Cinemas has up a "Coming Soon" poster (same design as last year) advertising Nightmare in 3D.

It'd be cool if they did this every year though...Thanks anyway!

Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D will arrive in select theatres October 19th.
It also has its release listed in the Walt Disney pictures section of Disney.com for scheduled theatre releases.

I hope that at some point they decide to release this movie on VHS, DVD, Blue Ray, etc. It could have two versions of the movie. On one tape or DVD you could watch it as it originally was and on the other one you could watch it in 3-D! I really LOVE this movie and I believe that it is one of the greatest movie's I have ever seen! I hate the fact that it is being released only in select theaters though.

i saw it last year in 3D.
and it wasn't as i thought it would be with stuff popping out of the screen
(i.e. when the bats flew out of oogie's mouth in the song)
^but that didn't happen like it was popping out at you.
it would've been cooler if more of that popping out at you stuff was in the film though.

I did want to see this last ear and didn't have the chance to, so I hope I can this year. I have yet to see something at the El Capitan.

I have heard of this place but I don't know where it is. I'm gonna guess LA perhaps? I know for a fact Ken Page (The guy who plays Oogie Boogie) sang his trademark song there last year. I saw that on a video on YouTube. It was GREAT!!!!

My wife and I saw NBC originally in theaters and we took our daughter to see the 3D version (she loves this movie, we own it on DVD). When people think 3D they think of things popping out at you ala HISTA or MuppetVision3D. What you are seeing in the 3D version is a greatly enhanced depth of field with objects obviously in the foreground, but the amazing thing is the level of detail you see with the textures and such that you can never truly appreciate on your home plasma TV.

Because the projection system relies on a very high frame rate, its would be impossible to release this version on DVD or blue-ray.

If you're a fan of the movie, by all means, go see it in 3D. If you're only wanting to see it because its in 3D you might be disappointed. I'm glad they didn't add anything noticeably to the cut. The film is so good it stands on its own just fine. I know there was a great deal of computer tweaking to fix a lot of photographic flaws in the original, so what you're seeing a a really nicely cleaned up version with some added depth.

Nice! Now I really want to go and see NBC. And to answer Davy Jones fan.... Yes the El Capitan is in Hollywood. It looks great on the outside. Very cool design.

Well I read a review that said the film stopped ten times at El Capitan.

BTW, I saw the film last year. It is really cool. Some colors, like the Christmastown portal and Sally's face in the beginning have different colors than when watching it at home. Maybe some day James and the Giant Peach could be shown in D-D-3D

Really excited to see it in 3-D. The trailer before meet the Robinsons in 3-D, really gave me a feel for how it would look - amazing, and really worth the extra two bucks!

That's the same way I felt. I saw Meet the Robinson's in 3-D too, and that trailer really made me want to see NBC in 3-D. I didn't get to see it last year, because it was only playing out in the suburbs.

I only saw NBC once, maybe I need to watch it again, because it didn't thrill me too much.

Maybe I was nervous because we went to see it on a show break at WDW and I was nervous we would get back late and miss our next performance....LOL So I didn't enjoy it as much.

You know what would be an eentelesting idea? Using a couple deleted scenes like Oogie's shadow dance and the original version of the experiment sequence.

Like I said: Eentelesting!

I was just wondering something: Last year when they showed it, was there anything before the movie? One of Burton's short films like Frankenweenie or Vincent perhaps? If not, they should add one of those this year.

In the theater where I saw it last year, there was nothing preceeding the movie; just a quick intro "Put on your 3D Glasses Now" kind of thing.

Obviously showing anything before the movie begs to be in 3D, so unless they decided to 'upgrade' another film, a pre-show short is unlikely. Before "Meet the Robinsons" they had a vintage Chip and Dale cartoon re-done for 3D that was really fun (not because it was in 3D, but because they were showing a vintage short fully restored).

"Working For Peanuts" was originally made in 3-D. For awhile they showed it at the parks. It is kind of cool.

It (Working for Peanuts) was shown before "Magic Journeys" at Walt Disney World, and was also apparently shown in Fantasyland at Disneyland:

When I saw it they showed "Knick Knack" (the short from Nemo) in 3-D. And it does seem that "Vincent" will preceed the film this year. I bet it'll be real cool!

Oh man. Now I'm so excited for this. i love the Nightmare Before Christmas, and was so disappointed last year when I didn't get to see it in 3-D. I hope Vincent is shown and shown in 3-D. That would just make my day. I loved Meet The Robinson's in 3-D and that Chip 'n Dale cartoon before it started.

Anyone seen the commercial for the film yet? It starts with the door except instead of the Jack-o-Lantern face it has the text "Oct. 19". The door opens and you see Jack under red lighting with his mouth stretched open. You then see a couple scenes of Jack, Mayor, Lock Shock and Barrel, and Santa. Throughout the commercial the narrator say that the movie comes out Oct. 19 "in 3D so real it's scary". We then see the title and Jack passes, then showing "In Disney Digital 3-D October 19" and the narrator announces the "limited 3-week engagement". So just wondering, has anyone else seen the commercial yet? And do you think it'll really go for just 3 weeks?

I still have no idea if i'm gonna get to see it. I don't live in any huge cities so the chances are very slim that I'll get to see it this year, but I hope I do.

Well it should be playing in much more places than it did last year. Last year's was a limited engagement thing in select theaters but this year is a more far-reaching release. To most people in socal they won't notice a difference though heh.

In the theater where I saw it last year, there was nothing preceeding the movie; just a quick intro "Put on your 3D Glasses Now" kind of thing.

What theater was that? Cause that happened when I saw the film today at Downtown Disney's AMC. Anyway, try not to see it there. There were some parts where you could hear the music but no dialogue. Such as during "This is Halloween". When you see Sally the first time and "the who when you call 'who's there'" and "the wind blowing through your hair", we saw Sally and heard the music but the vocals weren't there. During "What's This?", this curtain thing lowered blocking the top of the screen for many minutes. And when Jack was in bed trying to get clearer on Christmas, the film was black for seconds about three times. Shortly after, the colors were horrible. Then it wasn't 3-D! It did go back to 3-D but was blurry for a few minutes. There's this one theater that I like to go to that got the DLP system when Shrek 3 came out and is showing the film. Another is the only one I've seen DD3D before and, of course, is showing the film. I'll probably see it at the former once and the rest at the latter. By the way, when the film started messing up, several people left the theater. We were also given passes for any film any time we go there.

So, who else has seen NBC 3-D this year?

^It was Tim's directorial debut. It is about Vincent Malloy, a young boy who wants to be like Vincent Price. His mind has fondnesses for "ghoulish crime", painting, and reading, especially the works of Edgar Allen Poe. One night, he reads a passage that says his wife was buried alive. After digging up her grave (his mom's flower bed) he is sent up to his room. He starts feeling insane in isolation when at that moment his mom comes in saying that he can come out. However, "the years of isolation" had taken away his voice. He writes out that he is possessed by the house. His mother tells him that he is not "tormented and insane" and to "go outside and have some real fun". After she leaves, Vincent's insanity "had reached its peak" and he is now horrified of his creations instead of fond. He tries to escape the room but collapses. The short ends with him quoting the last passage of "The Raven" and believing himself to be dead.
I was excited to hear that it was to preceed NBC 3-D this year and recently learned that it was canceled "for unknown reasons".

I think I just realized why Vincent was canceled. I watched a few minutes ago on YouTube and noticed that shortly after the start of the short Vincent takes a puff, i.e., smoking.

it would have been fun to have Frankenweenie precede NBC.

^While true, I'm afraid that a half hour is a bit too long to precede a film.

Just got back from watching the film. They did a great job for a 2D conversion! I also liked the new Castle Logo in 3D. There was a nice U2-3D trailer too.

It was interesting that they told you when to put the glasses on, but didn't tell you to take them off. I guess I've gotten used to the "in the park" 3D experience.
