Welcome, one and all! I'm very proud to of been a part of this great season, and I'm even more proud to be co-running the next season and beyond. Throughout this game we've seen some very incredible work, and very talented people come and go, and now we are down to two. In one corner, the champion of the game thus far, Disneyfrek59, and in the other, the challenger Big Disney Fan. It is truely going to be a horse race to see who will end up on top, and I can't wait to see what you guys do.
The final project will put much of what you've learned to the test. In this project you will be designing a completely new expansion to a resort, complete with a new park, hotel, and entertainment area.
First thing's first is the park.

This park must be the third gate of either DLR, DLP, TDL, or the 5th gate of WDW. It CANNOT be a clone of any other park, so nothing themed to California, a studio, animals, the seas, or technology/the world. Instead, you will be designing your completely new theme, and using it to create an entirely new park. The park must still be in the spokeswheel design of all other Disney parks, and must still have a Main Street style area leading to the park's landmark.
Here are the other requirements

Include at least 1 Entertainment Venue.
Include at least 2 restaurants in each of your lands.
(You’re going to hate me) but include a full backstage area around the park. (LT's suggestion, not mine ;) )
Include at least 5 character Meet ‘n Greet areas.
Include 1 type of transportation around your park.
Include at least one day and one nighttime parade (you don’t have to go into great detail if you don’t want to on each)
You must provide aerials of each land and the park as a whole.

This is probably by far the largest project you've ever done. Just because were so evil, however, this is only the first half. The second half is comprised into two parts, as we said before, a hotel and an entertainment area. Let's start with the entertainment area. This isn't just some DownTown Disney knock off, far from it. This area MUST be themed to your park. How do you do that, you ask? Well picture something like a jungle area out in front of AK, something along those lines. It's an entertainment district, and it must keep the theme of your park. Here's the requirements

Include at least 5 shops
Include at least 3 restaurants with menus and two restaurants need to have some kind of entertainment
Include at least 1 Entertainment Venue
Include at least 2 clubs
Include backstage areas
Include at least one or two atmosphere structures; it can be fountains, play areas, etc.
Include a lush landscape
Must have the same theme as the park

Finally, there's the hotel. This new hotel must be themed to the park as well. Here are the other requirements

Must include at least 2 gift shops.
Must include at least 4 differently themed suites
Must include a uniquely themed penthouse suite.
Must have at least 1 themed pool.
Must include at least 2 restaurants with menus.
Must Include at least 1 on site entertainment attraction
Your hotel must have a theme to it.

What, you thought this would be easy?
Without further ado, here is the grading scale

Whoa! All of a sudden, I feel a bit light-headed. The only thing I can think of right now is a little something called - DUN-DUN-DA!! - Disney's Florida Adventure!!!!! Actually, I just talked to my father about this and he agreed to help me with brainstorming here. But for now, all I can think of is Disney's Florida Adventure.

I know you're probably going to want us to create as many new and ORIGINAL attractions as possible for our parks, but if it's not too much trouble, can we have SOME attractions already found in other parks (not from the same resort, of course)?

Well, too bad I never made it this far. I could have entered this classic (please, this is taken and copyrighted 2007 by CostaFreak/TheGhost/Sarutobi Sasuke and shall only be used by and for the Disney Company). Maybe it could be inspiration to some of you for your projects.

This park would be located, of course, in the strawberry fields Disney is fighting for right now, plus be connected with an extra monorail line and a new parking garage.

Get ready for...

Lost Kingdom

A completely new and original park with exciting attractions themed to mythology from around the world. The park has 6 beautiful lands, Porta Roma, Olympia, Babylon, Port of Alexandria, Oceana, and Oriental Bay.

Vesuvius (it acts as 3 volcanoes in one, but I'll get to that later). Pompeii is a semi area of Porta Roma. It is also the park's entery port.

Good luck to both contestants, hopefully seeing you two work with me a few years in the future at WDI.

Okay, thanks. I was asking because I had a few ideas for clones, or rather, relocated attractions. Mostly those involving Nemo. My park will be in WDW and be themed to Florida. The kiddie area of the park will be themed to Finding Nemo and many of the Nemo attractions around the resort, including most of the attractions at Epcot's Living Seas pavilion (which, when I'm done, will be restored to its older, non-film-referenced self), like that interactive one with Crush and AK's Nemo musical. Perhaps the only Nemo attraction to be cloned for this park will be the spinning coaster from the Disney Studios park in France.

Just a suggestion...
I dont know if anybody is, but I wouldn't transfer attractions between parks. example: moving buzz lightyear space ranger spin from MK to your new park. That's just simply carbon copying and moving something that does not need to be moved...plus it would be a waste of money and time...plus, not very creative in my opinoin.

Well, I know how you feel, and I'm trying to keep carbon-copying to a minimum for my park. It's just that my park's kiddie land will be themed to Nemo and it should have some of Epcot's Sea-themed pavilion's Nemo attractions be included, but that's more or less it.

So yes, I know what you mean about carbon-copying not being original. However, I need to have SOME unoriginal attractions in my park. Rest assured, though, a majority of the attractions will be ORIGINAL to my park.

When doing the park, can we have like a simple looking map showing approximately where everything will be, separated by colors? Because I think drawing up maps by hand might take up valuable time to try and get the stuff done.

You can do that for the overall map, but you have to also include more detailed maps for all the lands

What of the backstage areas? How do we do one of those?

When i say backstage. Im talking about areas behind your rides. that give techs access to maintenance it. IF your ride is liek JC, then include a boat dock out of site, If its a roller coaster include a train storage barn. If you plan to add a parade, which by the way is not a MUST, include a float loading area and a warehouse.

When i talk abotu backstage, i dont expect you to know everythign like i do. I just want a basic idea that you know that there is more to the parks than just what is onstage. When you guys had to do the new entertainment district, i noticed a lot of people designed there area with buildings all cramped and the whole area was just onstage space.

I hate to say this, but I'm afraid I may have to drop out. I haven't made up my mind yet, though, but if I do drop out, it's not because of the challenge, it's because I just haven't thought up anything truly worthwhile. This would require a few months of creating. That was why I didn't do too hot on the first two projects long ago and also because I steered clear of the third one. The reason I did well in the last two projects were because I had designed those projects that had been turned in for a while now.

So, I haven't made up my mind yet, but I think I'll drop out. It's nothing personal, you understand. But it's just a bit too challenging. If I had done my park for a while, then it would just be a matter of doing the map layouts (including the backstage areas), shopping, dining, entertainment and pictures. But I'm still thinking it over, though.

disneyfreak59

Are you saying what we gave you is too much?

Well, not exactly. But given the time constraints and also how original we must be (and a few other things that we may or may not have control over), it can be a bit difficult to get things done. If my park had been more developed before this portion of the contest, then maybe it would have only been a matter of creating the backstage areas and overhead shots. But still, I'm thinking over whether or not to drop out. I've had to actually rack my brains just trying to come up with attractions and descriptions alone. If I did drop out, though, it would have nothing to do with you personally.

The only thing here that is too much is the backstage areas part. I'm having enough trouble as it is right now, given school. And I haven't even started on the hotel and entertainment areas. So I'm afraid I may not be able to be around much to do this. So I may not be able to get everything done on time, due to other things happening.

Once again, I am considering dropping out, because the next week or so is going to be a bit tight for me. I haven't even gone near the hotel and entertainment areas yet and I've only gotten halfway through the park of mine. The reason it's going to be tight is because I have a boatload of schoolwork AND a test on October 1. On top of that, I have to help with a garage sale AND a trip to a flea market to sell stuff. So it's going to be very tight and I may have to again consider dropping out. If only there was a way to extend the deadline even longer so it's a win-win, because it looks like a win-lose; if one wins, another has to lose. And I can't afford to let my school performance lose.

Are you serious that this is too tough? had to juggle work, and school when i was in college. You get used to doing things rushed to the best of your ability.

Unfortunately, yes, it is too tough. If only my interest in this project hasn't lost its momentum. I have a feeling I will not be able to make the now-slated-and-fixed deadline, not very well anyway.

I still haven't come up with the names of the shops and restaurant names yet. I can't think of any good menus for my restaurants. I don't want to force creativity. I can't think of any good ideas for a parade or live entertainment either. I'm lucky I've thought some stuff up for attractions; most of the stuff is just thrill rides. I hope you accept the map even if it's a bit rough.

I even haven't started on the entertainment complex. I don't know why we need one anyway. I think the park alone is quite a chore. It's just plaguing my mind. It's just become too much of an obligation for me.

I'd much rather just do the Imagineering classes you're teaching. Maybe they could help out.

alright. This isn't anything of an elaborately detailed project like my past ones. Please keep in the back of your minds that I have been occupied as a full time student in college, with two part time jobs. I will probably add more to this later, and work on it more later, but at least this is something turned in. I did not however make an entertainment district simply because I didn't feel like there really needed to be another one. I will also add some more pictures a little bit later because more the more visuals I have, the better you may understand it. This may not be one of my "best" or most "detailed" projects but I did put my heart and soul into this as of any of my other projects.

Imagineering is my true passion. I knew from the beginning that this is something that I have wanted to be since I stepped in a Disney park at the age of five, and I plan to persue my dream of 13 years. Thanks you all the judges for pushing me through this with advice, motivation, and more passion than ever before. Thanks to all my fans out there motivating me strive harder. And congrats to all the competitors who made it as far as they did. I, Disneyfreak59, proudly present the....

Disney's Myths and Legends Theme Park

The lands: Asia, The Deeps Seas, Pirate Cove, Hawaiian Island

The whole concept of my park is based around myths and legends, and the magci of disney bringing it all to life. Enjoy!

Asia

Weenie: Expedition Everest

The first land I am featuring in my new park is Asia. Yes, it may have the same name as the land in the Animal Kingdom, but the idea and concept is a bit different. Since this is a Myths and Legends theme park, I have included two attractions that will live up to the Myths and Legends. The first attraction is:

Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain.

http://albums.mouseplanet.com/WDWAKEverestprocessed/everest_long_shot.jpg

-Take on the treacherous terrain of the towering Forbidden Mountain in this high-altitude, high-speed train adventure. Nail-biting hairpin turns hurl you forward toward the peak and then, just when you think it couldn't get more thrilling - backward! The mountain's full of surprises: Beware the snarling beast who watches over his domain... the Yeti!

Legend of the Lost Army: created by Disneyfreak59

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/entrancefacade.jpg

-The Terracotta army is a mysterious history marvel. These statues were to serve and protect the emperor from harm, and from YOU! Your mission is to go and get the tombstone of shi huangdi, the emperor, and see what these guys were REALLY for. But watch out! These guys come to life if they feel an intruder coming their way! Will you be one to conquer them? Or will you be another person that disappeared?

Character Meet and Greet:

http://www.sondelespoir.org/news_images/2005/11/27/mulan-ss.jpg

Guess who you get to meet in this adventurous land? None other than the gang from Mulan! Meet all your favorite characters such as Mulan, Shang, Mushu, and many more! But watch out! You might run into Shan Yu!

The area for the character meet will be in a very nice garden inspired by the movie, Mulan. It will feature beautiful Bradford Pear trees which are the trees that blossom little white flowers in certain seasons, along with a little miniature zen garden that?s roped off. The Bradford Pear tree will also serve as shade for guests and characters. By the meet and greet areas there will be a Japanese snow cone stand exactly like the one in EPCOT where guests can buy strawberry, melon, or raspberry flavored snow cones! A great way for parents and children to cool off while meeting some of their favorite characters!

Emperor?s Palace Restaurant:

Feel like royalty at the Emperor?s Palace. Beautiful Asian architecture inside with lush colors such as royal red and gold. There are tables and booths fill this dimly lit restaurant. Get Asian cuisine with a flair at the Emperor?s Palace!

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid192/p255e703cd30fe6d96f1a1a248e6c532d/f1ad7f2d.jpg

The Deep Seas

weenie: Lost city of Atlantis ruins

The next land I am featuring in my park is called the Deep Seas. Filled with mysteries like Atlantis, and the infamous, giant squid. Learn about all the marvels of weird fish deep in the sea, and different legends these fisherman had to say. Speaking of giant squids, I am bringing back an old classic, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea..

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea:

http://www.crazedfanboy.com/spotlight/images/20k_2.jpg

-Although I am fully aware that Disneyland has their submarine voyage back, I would still like to put this attraction in my park. Mainly because it?s a classic that should never have become a part of Disney?s past. There will be new, and improved special effects to this attraction in certain scenes with the squid, and also some new scenes and a bit of a new story line. The new storyline will feature a fisherman onboard who spotted something large out on the sea while fishing. He had told a submarine captain about his finding to what looked like to be a giant squid thrashing around the sea. You are apart of this mission as the ?crew? on the ship to help find and spot this mischievous beast. But, be warned! Don?t let the squid get a hold of your submarine or you may be in for a real surprise! The ride will feature a large AA of the squid and different effects and sounds that will seem like he is attacking your submarine. Before you get to the squid though you make your way through and bunch of ship wrecks with AA sharks, fishes, and plenty of bubbles.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire dark ride

-For the kiddies, I have included a dark ride attraction that?s from the movie, Atlantis. Join Milo and his friends as they embark on a traitorous journey to Atlantis. Face obstacles and find the heart of Atlantis to save the city. Scenes of the ride will depict scenes from the movie such as the campsite with the firebugs, and the scene of Atlantis itself, etc.

disneyfreak59
10-13-2007, 09:21 PM
i failed to mention this park will be in anaheim, CA along with DL and the entrance of the park will be reosty and jungle-y lol...anyways...

Character Meet and Greet:

http://www.lovefilm.com/lovefilm/images/products/5/7005-large.jpg

In this land, you will get to meet characters from the movie Atlantis such as Milo, Kida, Audrey, Mole, and Vinney! You will also get to meet characters from the Little Mermaid!

Kida?s Hideout:

Kida?s Hideout restaurant gives you a one of a kind experience. You will get to dine in an actual aquarium! The menu will feature seafood items like fish and chips, and hamburgers for the kids, and for the adult, exquisitely cooked seafood like seared tune, or mahi mahi fish.

Hawaiian Island

weenie: Giant man-made volcano

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d0/Tokyo_DisneySea-Volcania.jpg/180px-Tokyo_DisneySea-Volcania.jpg

This land will be featured more for the kiddies, but still with the same theme as the rest of the park. I do however feature an E-ticket attraction made by SPCMT. I would like this part of the park to be as tropical looking as possible with palm trees, a man-made beach like the yacht and beach club at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Mickey?s Surfin? Adventure- An attraction entirely by SPCMT:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/DSC00454.jpg

-Mickey and his friend?s are going on a surfin? safari, and you?re invited! Climb aboard a super surfboard, and hang on! You will be surfin? some real gnarly waves!

to see the marvelous attraction yourself, got to his thread, page 4, post 52.
http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17516&page=4

Lilo?s Tiki Fountains:

-A fun place for kids to cool off, I have introduced the Lilo?s Tiki Fountains. Cute tikis will form a large circle, and out of the mouths, water will shoot out! Also the ground below may also shoot out water.

Luau Grill Restaurant:

http://images.rottentomatoes.com/images/movie/gallery/1114489/LiloStitch-photo_09_hires.jpg

The Luau Grill restaurant will be like an actual luau! This reservation only dining experience, will feature live hula dancers, Hawaiian folklore storytellers, flame throwers, Hawaiian singers, and eve a visit from Lilo and friends along with Mickey and the gang! All the elements of a real luau, Disney style. This will be set along a man-made beach with tiki torches, a large stage and performance area, and plenty of palm trees. Guests will have the opportunity to buy flower leighs, and watch them be made right before their eyes. Tickets for the luau will be $40.00 for adults, and $30.00 for children. That price includes a true Hawaiian meal along with the entertainment portion. The festivities will run from 5pm to 8pm. Guests will also have a wristband that will allow them to go back and forth from the luau to the park. Like mentioned earlier, this will be a reservation only experience. Guests may make a reservation at their Disney resort hotel or at guests relations at the park.

Pirate Cove:

Weenie: Pirate ship

Pirate cove for me was a really hard land to design just because pirates seem to be engulfing the Disneyland Resort. Aside from that, I would change the ?pirates lair? in DL back to tom sawyer?s island, and incorporate pirate?s lair into my new park. If anything is going to be pirates, I would like it to be in this land of my park, instead of changing splash mountain to pirate mountain. Just kidding. :)

Pirate?s: The live stunt show.

This will be a really cool stunt show with pirates that has sword fighting cannon explosions, and much more action.

Captain?s Quarter?s Restaurant:

http://www.bluewaterweb.com/Newsletters/Images/Pirate-Ship.jpg

This restaurant will be featured in the large pirate ship weenie. There will be seating upstairs, downstairs, at the bow, and at the stern of the ship. The menu will consist of simple seafood items like fish n? ships, hush puppies, battered shrimp, etc. If the kiddies don?t like fish, they always have the choice of a good mickey corn dog, hamburger, or mickey pasta. This restaurant is price friendly so that all families will have the opportunity to dine in a fun pirate ship.

Meet n greet:

Meet captain hook, schmee, peter pan, wendy and even characters from Pirates of the Carribean to satisfy your pirate fever.

Unfortunately I am unable to upload any pictures of my hotel at this particular moment but i'll be sure to add some in tomorrow!

Disney's legends hotel:

The hotel I designed is elaborately themed to the park itself. Each story of the hotel is themed to a land in the Myths and Legends theme park. The main lobby is themed to The Deep Seas land from the park. Upon entering, the main lobby, the entrance will feature a built in waterfall on both of the walls. The floor will be a grey concrete color with the flat, round, blue marbles in the ground. The lobby itself is a circular shape with a modern shaped fountain in the middle. The hotel features a park side entrance that goes right into Asia. The check in is on the left, and to get to the rooms you just go straight from the entrance. The ceiling of the lobby is painted as a mural with mythical creatures from the see such as the Lockness Monster, Giant Squid, and even ruins of the lost city of Atlantis, etc.

The floors will alternate in theme. Obviously, the first floor was the deep sea theme, then, the second floor will be pirates theme, third floor is the Hawaiian theme, fourth floor will be the Asian theme, and the fifth floor will be back to the deep sea theme, so hopefully you will understand that it will alternate in that order, so if the fifth floor is deep sea, the it will go to the pirate theme again. Now, let me explain each floor to you! :) Since I already explained the first floor, I?ll begin with the pirate floor.

Pirate Floors and rooms:

The pirate floors of this hotel won?t necessarily have a nautical theme, but more of an adventurous swashbuckling theme! This floor will feature a carpet that looks like an old pirate map. It wills how different pirate ships on there, the different places they visited, and of course, and X marks the spot design.

Rooms:

The room can either hold a queen size bed, or two double beds. The room will have paintings of famous, legendary pirates along with paintings of ships. The furniture will just be dark colored wood with a tradition tv. The carpet will be a dark, coffee brown color, and the sheets a nice, tan, caramel color. The bathrooms are very traditional. White counter-tops and still the dark brown cabinets Also, some rooms have a very nice view of the park.

Hawaiian Floors and rooms:

The Hawaiian floors will have a really fun, tropical theme to it. Tikis are the carpet pattern, ad the wallpaper on the floor itself is kind of a bright but soft yellow. Real pictures of Hawaii will be throughout the hallways.

Rooms:

Get ready for a bit of paradise in the Hawaiian themed rooms. Brightly colored and decorated, the bed sheets will have pineapple print on them. The room will also have hula girl lamps, and the carpet will be a dark forest green. Again, a very traditional bathroom, white counter tops with medium color brown cabinets. The regular furniture like the drawers will be the sam medium brown color. Pictures of Hawaii are in the room along with a tiki patterned wallpaper.

Asian Floors and rooms:
The Asian floors of the hotel are exquisitely designed. A lush colored burgundy red carpet goes along with a dark chocolate brown carpeting. Also, in hallway stands gold colored mini statue sit on there to add to the rich colors.

Rooms:

In the rooms you will find a warm teal color wall with dark brown wood furniture. The sheet colors will be a dusted plum purple, and red lamps and pictures bring out the warmth of this room. The bathroom in this room is just like the one in the pirate room.

Wow! That was beautiful! I couldn't beat you even if I did stay on. My park was to be called Disney's Florida Kingdom, which is like DCA in that it's about a specific state.

Well congrats on your win Disneyfreak! Obviously you turned something in, so therefore you are the clear victor. I'm sure you know there were quite alot of things you missed, so this grade is low, but hey, you won at the very least!

New Park

Entertainment Venue 8/10-Good idea for a pirate show, but it lacked originality somewhat.
Restaraunts 15/15-I love all of them, nice work there!
Backstage Areas 0/20-lol, I know, I don't blame you for not doing them
Meet N Greet Areas 15/15-Very suprisingly well thought out, good job!
Transportation 0/30-Nothing presented
Ariel Views/Visuals 6/10-Good visuals, but there was no ariel view
Realism 7/10-I could see it all happening, not sure on how people would react to so many clones though, look at DCA
Location 6/10-You didn't really specificy where this park was going, I assume the strawberry fields, but you didn't say
Theme 25/30-I like the theme of mystery, it just seems a little too DisneySea for my taste
Total 82/150

Good job. I really liked the way you kind of made your project into a sort of guidebook style writting. It wasn't the most detailed, but it did make for probably a more entertaining read. I feel this park lacked originality, that was my main fault in it.

New Entertainment Area

Shops/Restaraunts 0/10
Clubs/Entertainment Venues 0/10
Theme 0/20
Backstage Areas 0/10
Location/Realism 0/15
Total 0/75

I guess I should clear up why we wanted you guys to do this entertainment area. We wanted this project to combine things you'd already done before. We basically wanted the next big expansion. For example, when DAK opened, we didn't get JUST the park, but the hotels, savana, things like that. We basically wanted an expansion of the resort as a whole.

New Hotel

Giftshops/Restaraunts 0/10-Nothing presented
Pool/On Site Entertainment 0/10-Nothing presented
Suites 10/10-I love the different themed floors and such, great job
Themed to park 10/10-Yep
Realism/Location 10/10-It doesn't seem very big, seems easy to attach to a park of that size
Total 30/50

Overall

Flow of the area 6/10-We didn't really have a lot to work with in terms of this score
Thematically fits with rest of resort 8/10-Ditto
Completing all requirements 5/10-Obviously you know why a 5/10
OVERALL SCORE 131/300

Comments: Well, sorry you had to have such a low score, but I can tell you were probably expecting one. Overall, yes, this was one of your weaker projects, but hey, you won, and you probably would of beaten BDF anyways, so congrats!

ha yup i totally expected low scores. For one thing, my motivation was lost when BDF dropped out and 2, i was just soooo busy! When i look back at it though, all of my projects have been very strong so i'm not dissapointed in myself. but, overall i like my concept and idea, and i would like to work on this more maybe with lighttech and elaborate on it more over time and then finally present it to you two in its final stage. fun season! great job everyone who participated!!!
