Yes it will. Disney is having an official re-dedication ceromony on October 1st and a fan group called Celebration 25 will be down there to celebrate.

From September 29th 1999 through July 8th 2007 there was a gigantic steel tower next to Spaceship Earth at Epcot Center with a cardboard cutout of Mickey Mouses arm holding a wand which sparkled the word Epcot over the top of Spaceship Earth(although it originally said 2000 because it was created for the Millenium Celabration.) Over the past month it has been slowly been dismantled and they have completed the removal for Epcot Centers 25th Anniversary.

I highly doubt it. Epcot was until recently the only Disney Park to have the parks name displayed on the icon. However in retrospect before they built the hat the Earful Tower was the icon of MGM and that had the parks name written on it.

I think many people would say the GMR Chinese Theatre facade is the 'icon' of MGM, and still is, despite a giant hat being in the way...

The rumor is the Hat was put there because the ownership of the real Chinese Theater changed and threatened to sue.

Somedays I feel like the lawsuit should replace baseball as Americas pasttime. It seems we spend more time and energy on stupid lawsuits than anything else nowadays. As for the chinese theater and GMR, I wonder when it will be its turn for an update. I dont think there is a single scene in it except at the end that contains anything from the new millenium

Putting a hat in front of it wouldn't solve the problem the owner would sue because of.

They needed something to block the theater to make sure it is not seen in publicity shots. Graumans was ok with it as long as it does not show up on Disney Merchandise. Postcards etc. Thus came the Hat.

The wand was [and tecnically still is] in EPCOT which is located in Walt Disney World, not Disneyland.

As for the Studio's icon, I always considered, and still consider, the Earful Tower to be it's icon.

I'm glad it's gone!!!! The reason it was there was for the millenium celebration and originally said 2000 and not Epcot. The word EPCOT was added because it was no longer the year 2000(DUH!). I think it became a real eyesore! I think just seeing SE without the sign is better. It looks more beautiful.

AGREED!!!

Also, SE looks like it did on the outside as it did 25 years ago! Perfect for Epcot's 25th!
