Does anyone know where MK's fireworks are shot? Are certain areas of the park closed off during this time like at Disneyland?

^Idk. I'll check. And some attractions and areas may be closed.

I believe and don't quote me on this, but i think they are shot off behind Toon Town Fair. Some lower altitude shells are fired off from different areas on the castle as well. Also the only ride i know of that closes during fireworks is the WDW Railroad, because of burning embers that may land close to the tracks behind the park.

This off topic, but when you said earth, I started thinking about my science class at school. And I'm learning earth science.

Fantasyland shouldn't be closed off, but the pathways that lead to Fantasyland that wrap around the castle are closed off before and during the fireworks.

This is a bit off-topic, but the reason I'm asking is because I'm expanding DL's Toontown as part of the Imagineer contests and one of the things I'm doing is trying to relocate where they shoot the fireworks there so that Toontown can stay open longer. The reason I'm asking here and not at Disneyland is because maybe if I learned of where they shoot off the fireworks at WDW, then I might be able to use that knowledge to try and create a similar solution for Disneyland.

^How educational and challenging. Good luck with that.

Not sure if this helps, but some of the fireworks are shot on top of the dark rides. If you stand behind the castle for the show, you can see them coming right off the top of the buildings. These are onlythe low ones, "flares", as I call them, since they don't explode.

Yes, I do know that some of the fireworks are shot from atop the dark rides in Fantasyland. I also know that they close off this area of the park during the show and it's not until like 10 or 15 minutes to a half hour after the show ends that Fantasyland reopens again.

to answer your questions. There is a bunker behind the park where the main pyro behind the castle comes from. Then there are locations along the railroad tracks for the 180 degree fireworks they use for special event parties. THen there are 5 Pyro bunkers per side with (exploding shells and non exploding shells) on the fantasyland roofs.

The non exploding shells you are referring to are called comets. Its the same shell used in Illuminations for the opening shot. This was chosen because its continuous burning and never explodes, thus being able to be shot over guests heads.

Here are 3 pics.

Lighttech pretty much said everything.

No lands are closed during the fireworks. The WDW Railroad is closed for each show. When the 360 degree perimeter shows are shown on NYE and 4th of July, entrance and exit into or out of the park is closed for roughly 45 minutes.

In lighttech's last picture, the 4 rows of bunkers closest to the road are a fairly new addition. MK now has the capacity to launch 3 shows of Wishes in one night if I am not mistaken. This is used when both Wishes and a speial event show is shot. The bunker site is located directly behind the castle just about 0.3 mile north.

In the pictures of the 10 bunkers in Fantasyland, after each show, the tops of those buildings are doused with water for about 15 minutes. This is done to prevent anything from catching fire. These bunkers do launch explosive shells.

Another thing worth mentioning is that a 3rd MK main launce site is located on an island in Seven Seas Lagoon. This is used during the NYE and 4th of July shows along with their respective rehearsals. This is then called a "mirror" show inwhich both the site behind Fantasyland and the island site shoot the same exact show at the same time.

I forgot about that site, and the 360 still being done.

^Do you have any pictures of the other launchers around the park for the Princess and Pirates Party?

Those are the same ones used for the other events. the Main launch, and the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks are set up for the events, they arent always there.

So the launchers for around the park are set up on the tracks when it's closed?

An hour before the show goes off the wire and launchers are set up. The reason they use the track is because at the back of the park its makes almost a half circle giving them a perfect line to use to create either the 180 or 360 perimeter firing.

If I am not mistaken, there is only one bunker that is located directly on the tracks. It is essentially a flat bed railroad car with launchers.

Yes thats right, but there are various other ones that are not.
