Andy Fickman is coming on board to direct Witch Mountain, Walt Disney Pictures' modern reimagining of its 1975 adventure movie Escape to Witch Mountain.

The first film was based on a science fiction novel by Alexander Key. It followed a pair of siblings, endowed with paranormal powers, who go on the run from a diabolical group of men who wish to exploit their abilities. The brother and sister turn out to be extraterrestrials.

The movie hatched a 1978 sequel, Return from Witch Mountain, best remembered for featuring Bette Davis and Christopher Lee in the cast, as well as a TV movie, Beyond Witch Mountain (1982), that was to have been a pilot for a series.

Matt Lopez wrote the current draft of the script. Lopez also penned the studio's Bedtime Stories, which is due to go before cameras in January with Adam Shankman directing Adam Sandler.

Fickman directed Disney's upcoming family comedy The Game Plan, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

I am not sure what to think about a remake of this. I loved the original. I am on the fence about this. I would much rather they make something fresh and original instead of remakes though, but again.... All of Hollywood has lost their creativity.

a haunted mansion remake would be so good, its just that this time they should stay with the original mansion story, but if they do, it might get a PG-13 rating.

The Rock to star in remake of Witch Mountain

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is negotiating with director and producers to star in a remake of old 1975 Disney movie Escape to Witch Mountain, as a Vegas cab driver who picks up two gifted siblings (Tia and Tony in the original film). The role sounds similar to the one Eddie Albert played in the film. Jason O'Day was a lonely man in an RV who reluctantly helped the kids find their way home. Johnson may do the same.

Johnson has been giving us the impression that he wants to be the "action hero" type but it looks like he is now trying a family friendly movie.
