Walt Disney is probaly one of the most successful and well known people in the world building up Disney, Mickey Mouse, and Disneyland - The Happiest Place on Earth. But, what if it wasn't him, what if you or me were the ones who got to design the park, what if you got to build Disneyland. Well, here is your chance to build your own Disneyland - The Happiest Place on Earth.

Well, there are some rules here as you just can't go off build a little roller coaster and let the people skip right in and go along their very ways. There are some rules that go along with this contest.

1) You are starting construction on this park in the early 1950's so you can't just go out and build some high tech California Screamin' type roller coaster. You have to go along a historical timeline and not get too unadvanced and unrealistic with this game.
2) You must go along with the Disney theme but again, don't use the theming of a present day movie because you are setting this park in the 1950's and then building it up.
3) You can be creative and build this park anywhere in the country or even the world (trust me, don't put this park on the moon, you will loose) but just be careful because if you put it in a place that has a really cold climate for part or the majority of the year, then your park won't be successful and you will also loose.

You also don't have to use the original lands (Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, etc..) but just remember that you have to incororate the Disney theme into this park 100%.
4) Put time and quality into your work as I will be giving you lots of time to work on your park and put detail into it (I will let you guys choose how much time you really need and other information).

Here is some of the other basic rules
- You may use Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 with any expansions, cheats, custom scenery, custom rides, or anything else that is like that.
- You must build your park from scratch, you may not use any type of custom made workbench or anything like that.
- You MUST!!! have fun working on this, or else :icon_twis .

Okay, you will be building this park in 6 rounds updating it to the specific time each time (1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, and Present). I will post a grading rubric once the contest offically starts. There is no full timeline yet although I am thinking that I will give the people two weeks to a month to work on the on their park and maybe two months for the whole first part.

I will also need a few judges for this so if you are willing to judge and can give up the time that would be great. You will also need to have AIM so that us judges can communicate about results, etc...

Well, without further wait, here is the sign up list. I don't know how this is going to turn out so it will be interesting to see. Please send me a PM if you want to judge or if you have any more questions or comments about this contest or any other information about me.

Welcome to VF! Im just letting you know, that Disneyland is nearly impossible to build in RCT2, and no chance in RCT3, unless you have a bunch of people assembling it. If people actually do sign up i'll judge but i don't think many people will join. Sorry to burst your bubble, maybe try a different park.

The idea is though that you don't have to build a Disneyland clone, you can make it as big or as small as you want. I am going for more quality that quality. Trust me, I think that there are people that can pull it off.

You can make your park the size of one of the park's areas if you want but it does have to have the Disney theme and it just can't be really, really bad work.

I have actually seen a Disneyland/DCA recreation pulled off by one person, it was really, really good although I am not sure how long it took. Anymore suggestions on how long the rounds should be or anything like that?

- Zach

NOTE: Just remember that this might be a long contest considering that I think I might make the first round a month and a half to two months and the rest of the rounds one month. Is that okay with you guys, I will set dates once the contest offically starts.

well instead of doing the WHOLE park maybe have people do lands like adventureland or tomorrowland, etc. and pick the best one out of the bunch to win and then put it all together in one final park.

im not doing this project btw im too busy with so you want to be an imagineer...but if you want a judge PM me or reply on here. i love looking at other people's RCT3 work.

^That sounds more reasonable then building the entire park

Well, you can already do that with this contest. You can just use the type of theming used in an area like Fantasyland, make a small park out of that and turn it in as your entry.

You see, the idea of this contest isn't to recreate the park but to build what you would have made a Disney park. I don't really care if it is more like an MGM concept or even just a basic original park like any Six Flags would be. As long as it has the Disney flare, it works.

Also, you can make your park as big or as small as you want, if you want to make the park the size of one of the areas, go for it. The original Disneyland was supposed to be only like 18 acres so if you want to make a small park like that, you go for it as I am looking for more quality than quantity.

Is that a good awnser for you guys?

On another note, I have created a score sheet that me and the other judges will use for the contest, I want to see if you people out there approve it...

Quality of the Park: 20/100
Creativity: 20/100
Disney Flare: 20/100
Speciality Ride (The one ride in your park that people would travel cross-country to ride): 20/100
Realism: 10/100
Ride Design: 5/100
Effort: 5 Free Points/100

What do you guys think?

^Hmm well when you put things that way it sounds good. I was just thinking about making a park, like my own version of a disney park, i've thought about it for a while, but now that it starts in the 1950's idk if im intrested in this. There aren't too many rides at all around the 1950's that are found in RCT3. Also two weeks isn't long enough to make "era" changes. And two months for the first part seems a bit short. Idk about others but i start school August 8th and from that point on I will probably have about an hour for this. I may be the only one starting this early but if not then your gonna have to change some things.

Okay, I will work out the rules, I think I might change it to a one/two round event the way you put it and you are right about school as it starts the August 13th for me.

Thanks for the idea people and I will get everything organized.
