This biography, lovingly done by Ub Iwerks' son Leslie, was recently shown on the new channel "Ovation" (Directv #274). This movie was released on videotape but has been out of print for some time. This was the first time it was shown on TV.
WOW! Kelsey Grammar as the narrator. Interviews with just about ALL the Disney legends still alive in 1999 (including Marc Davis, John Hench, Olly Johnston... even John Lassiter who was only listed at that time as "animator:Toy Story"!!!)
Ub Iwerks was a genius working with a genius! It's no wonder that Walt Disney Animation was known right from the beginning as being at the forefront of it's field.
And I never knew that UB came up with both Oswald AND Mickey!
...and the inventions he made that changed filmaking even to this day!
and lastly, he invented the circarama film setup!
If anyone's interested in this biography, I suggest trying your best to catch it. It's amazing (and I don't use that word lightly)!
