Jim Carey cast in Disney/Zemeckis Christmas Carol

Christmas comes early for Carrey with Disney pic (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i491367a49832845a02e492550b28c297)
The Hollywood Reporter

Jim Carrey will star in a Robert Zemeckis adaptation of A Christmas Carol, playing Scrooge, the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present and the ghost of Christmas future. The film will be produced by Walt Disney Pictures and ImageMovers Digital, which inked a deal with Disney this year. Zemeckis wrote the screenplay for Carrey and will direct the film, which will be made for a 3-D stereoscopic release. Producing are Zemeckis and his ImageMovers partners Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke.

Production will incorporate performance capture, and blend live action and CG, building on techniques used for Zemeckis' The Polar Express and upcoming Beowulf, as well as Monster House, which the director executive produced. A release date for Christmas Carol has not been set.

Several Web sites have reported that Bob Hoskins ? who worked with Zemeckis on Who Framed Roger Rabbit ? might play Mr. Fezziwig in the film, but Disney said no official dealmaking has commenced with the actor.

Carrey's upcoming projects include Ripley's Believe It or Not, Fun With Dick and Jane, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Carrey is repped by CAA, Eric Gold, Jimmy Miller and Debbie Klein.

I was thinking the exact same thing. when i saw dick and jane i wondered if it was a sequel, but there can't be sequels of all of them... :confused:then i looked at the original article (which was dated today) and it said that the old ones were "recent credits." the vf article must be a bad edit

i just hope he doesnt do what he did in series of unfortunate events. i am big carrey fan, but he was AWFUL in that movie. i hate to say it, but he only made me laugh about three times in that whole movie. if he plays the villainous-type role that he did in the Grinch, that would be hilarious!

Beowolf isn't out yet, is it?

I still say Carrey's performance as 'The Riddler' in Batman Forever was his best villian.

^Agreed.

I think he could play a good scrooge, perhaps not the best Scrooge, but a good one.

The best Scrooge I've ever seen was Patrick Stewart. A shame he wasn't cast...

No offense and all, but do you know how many times A Christmas Carol has been done? These newer versions are getting on my nerves. And besides, disney has already done this story with Mickey Mouse and the Muppets. Now they want to do it with Jim Carrey? Frankly, I think their running low on ideas.
