Hello and welcome to the third project of the ?So, you want to be an Imagineer?? Competition here on Visions Fantastic!
So far we have seen projects based on restaurants and C/D ticket attractions. After this project, we will be saying goodbye to somebody.
Could it be you? It all depends on how you choose to answer that daring question?

?So, you want to be an Imagineer?? Applause, Applause!

http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb121/DisneyParksFan/VFImagineer.jpg

Your mission for Project Three:
This week?s project is going to be designed for nighttime crowds and for the people looking to take a break from the theme/water parks. Your goal for this project is to create an expansion (not refurbishment) to either Disneyland?s Downtown Disney, Walt Disney World?s Downtown Disney or Disneyland Paris? Disney Village.
We are looking for you to expand one of these Shopping/Entertainment Districts. You can either create an entirely new themed area to the district or you can expand off of a current area (ex. Marketplace at WDW).
If expanding off of a current area?s theme?please keep the theme connected and tied-in to this area?s theme. You can not change the area?s current theme to match your new theme.
If creating a newly themed area?please make sure it does connect (meaning by boat, walkway, tram?) to the rest of Downtown Disney. Do not have it be located too far away as to where it would be a hassle to reach. Make sure though it still has the overall theme/atmosphere of the rest of Downtown Disney.

*Your expansion must have at least two original dining establishments. Please include at least one menu from one of your new restaurants as well as a brief overview of the place.
*Your expansion must include at least two original shopping locations. Please give a brief explanation of the shops.
*Your expansion must include a new entertainment venue, whether it?s a street show or a stage show.

Remember to make it fun as well as to keep the overall theme in mind. Please be as original as possible!
Also, make sure it is realistic. Both Downtown Disney locations and Disney Village do pack in the people at times. Don?t forget about the details!

Grading Arrangements:
Location: 20/100
Creativity: 20/100
Theming: 20/100
Realism: 20/100
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 10/100
Original Shopping: 10/100
Original Entertainment: 10/100
Detail in Presentation: 10/100

Total: 120/120

:mickey: Due Date: Monday, July 16, 2007 :mickey:

**NOTE: Please post your project in the Project Three Thread, do not send it to the email address. Thx***

If the project is turned in late by?
1 Day? -5 points
2 Days? -10 points
3 Days? -25 points
4 Days? -100 points

Your points?what do they mean?
This is where the points mean everything. After the third project is turned in, the person who has the most total points from both projects two and three added together will be named the ?winner? of round one (projects 1-3). The top three contestants will have immunity for the next project, Project 3B. While the top three are encouraged to still participate?they do not have to. It?s the bottom two that will be required to turn in a project. The total that they receive from that project alone will decide who will be leaving the competition.
Good Luck with the project!

If you have any questions?feel free to ask!

I think your marking system is a little off (20+20+20+20+10+10+10+10=120), just thought I'd point that out.

I'm going to go ahead and drop out of judging for this project only and just let DPF's scores determine who was eliminated. I'd like to judge but it's just so confusing, now I have the email account but all the projects are Word attachments I can't open, so I'll just let DPF be call this one and be back to judge #3

this new competition has a lot of limitations and restrictions but nevertheless, i think its good because whoever can come up with something great demonstrats that they can think of a lot with little given

07-08-2007, 07:05 PM
Sorry guys :( I tell you what, if you PM me your project, I'll still grade it for you and give you my critique, it just won't be offical game scores, it's just so hard for me not having Microsoft Word and every project being in word format, I think this new rule of posting in the thread is much easier

disneyfreak59
07-08-2007, 07:37 PM
hmm ok or maybe i'll just PM you my idea because really, i have pages and pages of stuff. awww well how did you read stuff from the last project?

I agree, and DPF I think you should really consider giving them an extra day per day the scores aren't turned in, you shouldn't of started this topic until the scores were in anyways, and this delay is getting way out of hand, I'd like to help, to but I just can't when you are gone for like days at a time like this

DisneyParksFan
07-09-2007, 02:28 PM
Well, I dont see why you cant start on the next project without seeing the scores since it was a non-elimination round.
It seems like the scores will effect how well you perform on the next project...which shouldn't be the case.

Anyways, since I was waiting for the scores and comments from our guest judge...I'll wait until 4:00 pm pacific time until I post them. If this guest judge has not turned in their scores before 4:00, my scores will be offical.

Project Three will be due Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11:59pm

Now that the scores are in, we can concetrate on Project 3 finally. If you guys could do me a gigantic favor and post the projects on this thread, not just post an attached word document, unless it's wordpad, that'd be beyond helpful, even if it's several pages long, I believe you can fit pretty much anything into a post, not sure though. Anyways, can't wait to see the next projects

disneyfreak59
07-10-2007, 08:22 PM
okay, i know this is asked a lot...but for location: does this need to fit physically? because if we have to, for example, tear out wooded areas for WDW's downtown disney or tear out a parking lot for DL'S DD, will that be acceptable? or will it dock us down points?

DisneyParksFan
07-11-2007, 12:16 PM
Oh yes, trees, parking lots, long walkways, and other stuff like that can be cleared for your expansion. You will not lose points for placing your new area in those current places. Make sure though that your area does fit. You know, like doesnt cover up current buildings, unless you explain why you are replacing those buildings with your new version.
Hope that helped

While we are all working on our projects, can we get a good description on how elimination will work for this round? Thanks!!!

DisneyParksFan
07-15-2007, 01:36 PM
It was explained in the first post of this thread, but there will be a change.

Instead of having three safe people, only the person with the highest amount of points from projects 2 and 3 combined will be safe from being eliminated in Project 3B.
The four contestants with the lowest points will have to complete in Project 3B. The scores alone from Project 3B will decide which contestant will be eliminated from the competition.
Project 3B is the project following Project 3.

Hope that helped

I think I might have to back out of this contest guys. I really don't want to. But I have so much other stuff going on right now, I still havn't even had like a minute to sit down a nd think about this one. And since this is an elimination round I'll probably be out anyway. But right now it's really more of a nagging guilt that I havn't even thought about it. So I would really like to continue, but I have WAY to much other stuff going on. Hope the rest of you guys have fun. See ya.

Just a friendly reminder that Project 3 is due tomorrow.
Please turn in your project to this thread. We are not using the email address for this project. Thank you.

Also...try to include as much detail as you can! Do whatever it takes to get your idea a crossed to the judges. If you have to type paragraphs upon paragraphs...go for it! If you have to submit images...please do! Images do help tell the story, and are often part of the story.
Location and Realism are to be kept in mind...good luck!

:disneyland: Applause, Applause! Cool. So, here is my progect...

Disney Alley
By: Basketbuddy101

We all get tired after a fun day at either Disneyland Park or California Adventure. Throughout the years, guests of the Disneyland Resort have spent tiring days in the parks without rest. Disney Alley is the solution to this problem. Disney Alley is in the parking lot west of the paradise pier hotel and south of the Disneyland Hotel. Disney Alley is an expansion to the Downtown Disney district. The new area of the Disneyland Resort is a shopping district, spa, eating facility, and entertainment zone for kids. Also, Disney Alley is the only place to find a new stage show. “The Incredibles: Stunt Show Spectacular”. This show combines live action with the fun and excitement of the Pixar animated film. So if you’re looking to take a break from all the action, come on down to Disney Alley.

Guests of the Disneyland Resort wander into the Downtown Disney District. Just past the Disneyland Hotel lies an adventure waiting to be discovered. Disney Alley District awaits the guests. There is a large sign in front of the entrance that says “Tired? Hungry? Restless? Yeah...Well Come on Down Then!”. The entire District seems to be made out of lights. Bright colors surround the guests. The alley is similar to the Hollywood Picture Back lot at California Adventure. Disney Alley, however, is much longer in length. This new district is designed for night-time only. It is closed in the day to everyone except authorized personal. So, as guests enter the new district, they come across a gate. Adults are required to pay $15.00 for admission and children are required to pay $10.00. The reason for the fee is because of all the entertainment inside. Entertainment includes the Jungle Playhouse, the Incredibles Stunt Show Spectacular, Baloo's Bowling Bonanza, and the King Arthur Arcade. All of these attractions are free except for Baloo's Bowling Bonanza, which charges money for every round. Once guests pay for their tickets, they find themselves in Alley Plaza. In the middle of the plaza is a magnificent fountain that turns different colors including blue, yellow, red, green, purple, and orange. On the front of the fountain lies a golden plaque that says “Elias Fountain". This particular fountain was built to honor Walt Disney and all of his accomplishments. As guests look into the fountain, they spot many coins of all sorts. The plaza leads to three entrances. The three lands in the Disney Alley District are Action City, Swingin Jungle Avenue, and the Relaxation Station. Each of which are unique in different ways. First off, there is Action City, located on the left. Action city is a place where fun and adventure are never-ending. The attractions in Action city are King Arthur Arcade and the Incredibles Stunt Show Spectacular. Guests make their way into Action City. It looks to be something straight out of a movie. In front of the entrance is an arch that says in large black letters, “Action City". As guests walk further into the land, they can hear up-tempo jazz tunes. To their left, they can see the King Arthur Arcade. In the middle, they can see the Incredibles Stunt Show Spectacular stage, and to their right, is the Action Capital Shop. Guests decide to try the arcade first. The exterior of the building is a stone castle-type theme. There is a statue of Merlin behind glass along with Arthur in display. These versions of Merlin and Arthur are the Disney versions. Guests walk into the building. There is mist surrounding all the visitors. It seems as if the guests are deep inside a medieval castle. As guests buy their tokens, a loud roar is heard. The ground seems to shake a bit. This is a small effect that involves the walls shaking and not the ground. Obviously, there is a “dragon" located deep within the dungeon. Guests look around to see many arcade games to play. The games include, “The Sword In The Stone Strength Game, Merlin's Mix-and-Match game, Dragon Keeper, Lancelot Defender, and plenty of other traditional mini-games. The prizes available are dragon plush dolls, Merlin and King Arthur action figures, Toy swords, toy crowns, and many other knick-knacks. Guests exit the arcade and run over to the Action Capital Shop. This shop sells everything from toys, clothes, books, and any other accessories for kids and adults alike. The inside is like any other basic shopping mall except that there are characters from the Incredibles hanging from the surface of the building for display. Guests exit the shop with bags in their hands. As they prepare to exit Action City, they hear a voice on a PA speaker. “Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls of all ages, starting now is the new Incredibles Stunt Show Spectacular. A show that combines the fun and adventure of the Incredibles with amazing stunts. Repeat, now starting...the Incredibles Stunt Show Spectacular!" The guests rush on over to the stage. The crowds get long and there seems to be little space. The cast members working out in front usher the guests inside the sound stage. Amazingly, the guests manage to find seats in the front row. What appears in the stage is the Parr family’s home. In the back-round, clouds are visible. The entire sound-stage goes absolutely silent. The Incredibles theme plays and the narrator’s voice is heard. “When we last left the Incredibles, they had just…well…not much really…”. A man in a suit walks out of the family’s house. He is holding a newspaper in his hand. He looks from side to side. He walks over to the lawn and checks the street. He then looks at the audience. “ Hmmm…may I ask what are you doing in my home…hey look this place is under surveillance cameras and if you even try to…oh you’re just here to see some action. You’re here to see something amazing aren’t you? Well…so am I. I really haven’t seen any action here since that plane landed on our house. Good thing Violet was there or we would have been…. (Sigh) bottom line, my family and I are…well, super heroes. But truth be told, not everyone likes supers. In fact, they think we’re nothing but freaks. Yeah, I always tell my kids that our powers make us unique. They make us special. Heck what do I know? There are plenty of supers out there. Some of them are extinct though. Got killed off by some insane kid who claimed he was my “number one fan”. Well that’s all in the past. It gets hard to look at the past sometimes. You know, I’m kind of glad you came over. It’s nice to talk to normal people who don’t think we’re nothing but a bunch of freaks. You never know. We may get some action after all.” At this, another man in a blue and white costume comes gliding down in a board of some sort. He glides all the way down and straight into the ground. “Hey Bob! We got trouble. Apparently, the city is under attack by some guy in a black suit with a big “S “on his chest. Let’s see…who do we know that’s a complete wacko and is dressed in a black suit? Syndrome! Bob, we have to get downtown and quick. I don’t know how he came back but I do know that he means trouble! I’ll meet you there. Call the family if you need to just get there as soon as possible.” The man in the super suit grabs his board and flies away using an ice trail. The man rips off his shirt to reveal his super suit. “This looks like a job for Mr. -------Eh…The Incredibles!” Mr. Incredible runs into his house. The audience watches as the entire stage begins to turn. A new back-round becomes visible. There are buildings everywhere and the sky becomes dark. Seen in the back-round is a strange flying object. A cruel laugh is heard as the flying figure lands directly on the stage. “Well look what we have here! Weak-minded normals. Ha! I know what you normals are thinking. How could I possibly come back to life after that accident with my jet? Well this is a movie! Anything can happen in an action film. Come my evil minions! Destroy everything in sight! Even though my Omnidroid blew up, it doesn’t mean we can’t cause havoc in the streets of Metroville The only ones who can stop me are those annoying group of supers! But…that won’t happen again. These shields I invented will destroy any supers that pass through it. Not even that girl Violet can pass through it! Well…I’m not too sure about that but who cares! I am Syndrome! Your worst nemesis! Your worst nightmare! Your-----“Not so fast pal! It’s over Syndrome! You’re way out numbered!” Frozone glides past some buildings and dives toward Syndrome. As soon as he passes the shield, he falls off his board and lands on the ground. Syndrome laughs and snaps his fingers. “Hey Boys, take this use less super to the base! As for me, I’ll stick around here and see if I could find myself another victim.” He starts to pace as the minions take Frozone’s limp body away. Suddenly, Mr. Incredible jumps out of nowhere. “It’s all over Syndrome! I don’t know how you came back but I do know that-----“Oh come on! It’s an action movie! Anything can happen. Enough chit-chat, let’s end this once and for all. Hey boys! We got us a super…uh guys…hello? Hey! Where is everybody? I can’t take him on my own! Oh…wait! Yes I can! Activate robots! ” He presses a button on his remote. The stage begins to fill with robots. Mr. Incredible springs into action. He jumps up and smashes the robots with his entire body. “Uh Honey! I could use a little help over here!” Mrs. Incredible springs down from a building and lands on a robot. “Glad to see you dear. Hey Violet! Get over here and help your father and I deal with these pieces of metal!” Syndrome begins to watch in horror. “Hey! Why haven’t they fainted yet?! They’ve crossed the shield countless times! This doesn’t compute!” As soon as these word leave Syndrome’s words, violet falls from nowhere and also lands on a small robot. “Did I miss anything mom?” Mrs. Incredible punches a robot with her left arm and punches another with her right. “Not much honey. Have you seen your brother? He always manages to get himself into these types of situations. If I know you’re brother, he’s probably running over here to fight these things instead of finishing his homework. At this, a child runs into the stage and crashes on a robot. “Got that right mom. I’m always telling you that saving the world is much more important than school. I mean, what if there was no world? There’d be no school. Hey I’m just saying.” Dash runs around in circles around seven robots until they eventually destruct. Dash turns to look at his father and says, “Hey dad! How was that”? Mr. Incredible grabs a robot with his arms and spins him in circles. He then releases it with a forceful throw. The robot flies in the air and hits Syndrome. “Ahhh! Hey! What’s going on with my----ahhh! Help! Why aren’t my shields working? They should be protecting me from those supers.” He crashes into the cement and passes out. In the back, a building falls. Then, another building falls. All the buildings begin to crumble to the ground. Dash, however, does not manage to spot the building in back of him ready to fall. He is much too busy fighting countless robots. Mrs. Incredible screams, “Dash! Get out of there!” Dash does not move. He is paralyzed with fear. Just before the building hits Dash, Violet shields him with her force field. Syndrome is seen standing up. He looks from super to super. “I just don’t understand this! My shields should have destroyed each and every one of you! Why aren’t you down yet?” Syndrome begins take out something from his pocket. He takes out a pen a sheet of paper and begins making calculations. “Of course! My shields aren’t responding because they burn off after being exposed to temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius! When Frozone passed through my shield barrier, he….burned off the shields! I’ve got it! It caused a thermal disruption. But…that means that I’m one hundred percent vulnerable to these supers.” He looks down at the broken robots and then presses a button on his remote. “Calling in for help. This is Syndrome requesting assistance. I am in request of an army of reinforcements. Make it fast! I am in deep need of assistance!” He stares at Mr. Incredible once again and screams, “This isn’t over Mr. Incredible. In just a few moments, my entire army will come and destroy you all!” He jumps behind a mailbox and starts screaming for help. Suddenly, Frozone begins to glide from the sky in his board all the way down to the concrete sidewalk. “I beg to differ! Those shields of yours are down and so is your army. I took care of it myself. Bob, you know what to do.” Mr. Incredible raises his hand to give Frozone thumbs up. He jumps up and then smashes the ground with all of his force. The entire stage begins to shake violently. Syndrome is thrown into the air because of the crash and then frozen completely into a block of ice by Frozone. As Syndrome falls to the ground, Violet covers him with a force field. He lands with a thump on the ground. Mr. Incredible runs over to him and says “That’s what happens when you mess with Mr. Incred----“Honey…” “I mean…the Incredibles.” As soon as these words leave his mouth, the police arrive. “Well done Mr. Incredible. You have saved the city once again. You’ve proved that one super can make a difference. I hereby declare you hero of the year.” Mr. Incredible laughs. “Yes of course, no need to thank me. I’m just glad I could help. You know, the city and the world are always safe when I’m around. My desires to fight the forces of evil are always present. Of course I did have a little help. Dash runs into the scene. “A little? Did you even see me beat up that robot? I was running so fast!” Dash hugs his mom and then says “Later, I’m off to play some video games…I mean…do my home work. See you back at home parents…officers…annoying sister.” Dash runs out of the scene and back home. Because of the excitement, nobody spots Syndrome escaping the destroyed site. Mrs. Incredible thinks fast and extends her arm toward him. She grabs his cape and swings him in circles. He then lands directly in the police vehicle. The cop handcuffs him. Frozone glides from the stage and above the audience. “Hey, you guys look a little hot. You need to chill.” He throws his arms in the air. An ice cold mist begins to fill the room. The entire room goes dark and misty. Then, the lights come back on after a few moments of suspense. The entire stage appears completely frozen in ice. Mr. Incredible jumps yet again and as he falls to the ground, the ice shatters and a cold chill fills the room making the entire theater cold. Even the lake in the back becomes frozen. Dash can be seen skating in the lake along with frozone. Mr. Incredible looks behind him. “Yikes! This place is a disaster. Hey, I saved the world already. This isn’t my job. I guess I’m done. There’s nothing more to do. All in a day’s work for Mr. ---------“Honey!” Mr. incredible looks behind him again. “Oh all right. The Incredibles.” The curtains close as the Incredibles theme plays. The guests make their way out of the theater and back into action city. They are very tired and hungry so they decide it’s about time to go get something to eat as well as something to do. The next land is “The Swingin Jungle Avenue”. Here, guests can bowl, shop, and even dine with their favorite character from Disney’s The Jungle Book. Animal sounds are heard from the entire area. The land is illuminated by torches. There are plenty of trees surrounding the land as well as a wooden tree house above a particularly large tree. There is a large statue of Baloo the bear holding a bowling ball in one paw and a pack of bananas in the other. As guests make their way deeper into the jungle, drums are heard. As guests get closer, the music gets faster. As soon as the music seems as if it can’t get any faster, guests arrive at “Ballo’s Bowling Bonanza”. The entire bowling alley is illuminated by black light. There are many trees (plastic) in the bowling alley. There are animatronic figures of animals, most of which are characters from the Jungle Book. There is a Sher-Khan figure looking from side to side with an angry expression on his face. There is a Bagheera figure standing at a distance on a boulder by a large tree. In the middle of the alley is an animatronic figure of Baloo. He is holding a coconut in his paw. The coconut has three holes in it making it a coconut bowling ball. The only human figure there is Mowgli. He is looking at the bowlers in curiosity holding on to nothing except for a skinny vine. Besides a few elephants and monkeys, there are no other animatronic figures. The guests begin to play round after round nonstop. After what seems like endless fun, they finally leave. At the exit, there is a small brown sign that says “Have a swingin time here at the Disney Alley District. As they leave, guests discover that they are extremely hungry. Luckily, there is a restaurant located just east of the bowling alley. Before they enter the restaurant, guests spot a giant play area ahead. This is the Jungle Playhouse. Here, children can climb to Mowgli’s tree house and slide down 30 feet into the ball cage. In Bageerah’s Ball Cage, kids can play Basketball with the hoops installed at both sides. They can also have a ball fight. The Jungle Playhouse is available to any child age 11 and under. Guests arrive at the only restaurant in the Swingin Jungle. The Jungle Cook is a fabulous restaurant that gives you a unique dining experience. After waiting a few minutes, guests are escorted into their table. The entire room is dark with countless trees surrounding it. A relaxing tune can be heard from a distance. Guests begin to feel as if they were right in the middle of an actual jungle. The setting is unlike any other you have ever seen before. Right beside the guest’s table is a long river with plants around the edges. There is a terrified-looking tiger across from the body of water. Apparently, the tiger, Sher-Khan, is being threatened by the jungle boy, Mowgli. The Mowgli figure is holding a torch in his hand, pointing it at the tiger. These display figures are actually from the climax of the movie the Jungle Book. The menus arrive shortly after the guests are seated. This is what the menu displays:

After enjoying a fine meal, guests feel the urge to shop for souvenirs. There is a shop that one of the guests spotted earlier ago. The store is called “Kaa’s Corner”. In the front of the entrance, there is a figure of Kaa the snake. The ceiling of the building is filled with vines. There are quite a number of snake figures tangled up in the vines. Occasionally, the snakes stick out their tongues and slither at the guests warning them to stay away. In this shop, guests can buy candies, toys, clothes, and exclusive Disney collectables. Guests leave the store with even more bags of items in their hands. The final and most relaxing of all three lands is the “Relaxation Station Spa”. Guests rush over to the Relaxation Station. The entrance is blocked by a gate. Only those with reservations are allowed in. The Relaxation station has a restaurant called the “Calm Caf?”. It is also host to “Ariel’s Fitness Academy”, where guests can work out and get into shape. Last but not least, is “Mickey’s Pool Party”, which is an area with two pools and three jacuzzis along with Princess Jasmine’s Juice Bar. First off, the guests head on over to Ariel’s Fitness Academy. The inside of the gym is filled with exercise equipment from tread mills to ellipticals. The walls are painted blue and there are paintings of the Little Mermaid characters on them. Here in Ariel’s Fitness Station, there are many professional trainers that can help you find a healthy diet. After a few hours of intense exercise, guests head on over to Mickey’s Pool Party. The pools and jacuzzis are indoors and the water is just right. The water is crystal clear. Just beside the first pool is a tall waterslide. The first pool is designed for those who can’t swim. There are four life-guard towers in the entire area. The top of the towers are all shaped like Mickey ears. The pool is filled with dozens of Disney pool toys. Heard from speakers are Beach Boy tunes. There are plenty of people in the water. The second pool is quite deep. This pool is designed to improve swimming skill. The second pool is restricted to children and only to be used by adults. Once out of both pools, guests head to the jacuzzis. The jacuzzis are in a separate room. The room’s walls are painted with little fish and mermaids. The walls are also painted blue just like the pool room. After relaxing in the Jacuzzis, guests visit
Princess Jasmine’s Juice Bar. The bar is nothing fancy. The roof is made of straw and there are plenty of soft drinks, teas, and smoothies to order. After leaving the juice bar, guests head to their last destination. The Calm Caf?, the most soothing restaurant in the Disneyland Resort. Not only is the Calm Caf? a restaurant, but a care treatment spa as well. Because of the previous meal at the Jungle Cook restaurant, guests don’t have much of an appetite. However, they do take a glimpse of the inside of the restaurant. The entire place is painted blue and pink. The room is filled with an aroma of flowers and hanging from the ceiling is an enormous crystal chandelier. Each waiter is dressed in a neat black suit. In the heart of the restaurant is a small pond with a bridge across from it. There is a small stage by the exit where violinists are playing calm and gentle music. Just beyond the restaurant lies another door. This door leads to the one and only care treatment spa. It is getting late so guests decide that this is the final stop. The room isn’t too big. There are about 15 beds where massages are given. There is table filled with towels and another table with cucumbers and bowls of face mask on the top. The ceiling is mad of glass and the room is painted with a shade of yellow and pink. The relaxation is designed to calm and soothe every guest in the Disneyland Resort for a very reasonable price. The guests make their way past a group of people and finally exit the station. The guests find themselves in the familiar plaza. After throwing a coin into Elias Fountain, Guests arrive at the exit. At the exit, there is a sign that reads, “Thank you for visiting Disney Alley and have a great time here at the Disneyland Resort”. Once out of Disney Alley, guests head over to their hotels to have themselves a good night’s sleep.

THIS WILL BE IN TWO POSTS DUE TO LACK OF SPACE

Elisokool16’s Project Three Proposal

Warning: This is long, but bear with me

P.S. ----Despite the coincidence that both of my “Imagineer Competition Participations” have been drawn towards a Parisian theme, there is no specific reason, just merely that it seemed to fit for both projects.

Location, Location, Location

Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney will be the location for my entertainment expansion. If you look at the above Google earth map, the area highlighted in red will be the location of the expansion relative to the rest of Downtown Disney. It is located on the northwest side of the Downtown Disney property and has about 265 feet of water access on the eastern side.

Additionally, the fact the “Cirque de Soleil” borders “Petite Paris” (the name of the expansion), is ideal because it provides an apt transition from the generic themed region bordering the expansion to the Parisian themed new area. Even more, the nearby Port Orleans Resort is given a larger purpose now that it will become part of a greater French themed area. “Petite Paris” will be accessible to Port Orleans guests via a VIP express boat that will cross the body of water between the resort and downtown Disney.

The Details

The expansion that I am proposing to Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney is a shopping – dining – entertainment district entitled “Petite Paris”. The basic theme of my expansion is a tribute to the culinary, fashion, and amusement that French culture has provided throughout history. The expansion will be Parisian themed but with a Floridian tinge, and this will become evident further on. The Buildings that line the street will resemble the neo-classical architecture of 19th century Paris, which is quite recognizable and famous. The architecture will additionaly be within similar range of the Port Orleans and French Quarter resort style, which will create a newfound relationship. The expansion will be accessible by a continuation of the northwestward walkway (entitled “Champs de Disney” instead of Champs-Elysees), between cirque de soleil and house of blues. The path will split at the entrance to the expansion property and will meet in a circular fashion. This will be illustrated in a self-drawn map.

http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/2195/archfacadejm7.jpg

The Main Entertainment Show for “Petite Paris” will be titled “Voix de Ville.” This literally translates from French to “voice of the city.” It has been believed that the phrase “Voix de Ville” ultimately led the word “vaudeville,” which became the term to describe a form of entertainment popularized in North America in recent centuries due to the inspiration of unique performances and shows in 19th century France. Because Vaudeville was known for its eclectic range of entertainment, “Voix de Ville” will be a multi-act stage show, showcasing many traditional popular performances as well as some Disney-inspired ones.

“Voix de Ville”

Voix de Ville will be a two hour performance consisting of an eclectic mix of shows that vary in all Medias of entertainment. The stage show will be housed in “le Moulin de Floride,” (Windmill of Florida). The entrance to the building will be a tropical themed French windmill that would stand about 60 feet tall and will be a combination of thatching and local Floridian oak wood, for environmental reasons. Near the top of the windmill will be a large clock showing the time for all visitors of “Petite Paris” to see. At night, the windmill will be lit in assorted colors and will be the brightest light in the new expansion. Past the windmill fa?ade will be a 500 seat theatre with both a lower and upper deck. The foyer of the theatre will contain a hardwood floor and concessions as well as 2 sets of restrooms and handicap accessible ramps to the upper and lower decks. The upper deck balcony will be lined in gold with a persistence of the “fleur de lit” symbol, a common French image. The theatre will be intricately detailed yet simple in layout. And now for the acts!

Act 1: Act 1 will be a performance of close to 25 highly-skilled mimes from throughout the world. Some may be from the states, while others will hale from Asia, Europe and even South America. The varied mix of skillful mimes will help produce a showcase that is uniquely different than any mime performance worldwide. This performance will pioneer in combining the culture of mimes to produce a synergetic show of energy and of course, silence. Because silence means the same in every language, it will be easy for any Walt Disney World vacationer to enjoy this Act.

Act 2: Act 2 will be a dance performance stemming from the can-can shows of old Paris as well as the popularization of burlesque dance in North America. While remaining within appropriateness for basically all ages, the dance performance will be an innovative mix of old music and new music, quite similar to some scenes from the movie “Moulin Rouge.” By combining older French themed music with modern Pop music, this act will be able to be enjoyed by all and will be always changing and improving.

Act 3: Act 3 will be a rapidly changing magician performance. With the performer changing bi-monthly, there will always be a reason to come back and see “Voix de Ville.” The magician performance will attempt to produce an atmosphere comparable to that of the magic craze that swept the world in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Inviting guests to participate will not only stimulate crowd amusement but also add a touch of a Disney Hands-On experience to the show!!!

Act 4: Act 4 is a temporary performance. The possibilities for what the performance can be are endless. If possible, Act 4 will sometimes bring in big name musicians or performers in peak-crowd times. An example of a potential performer would be the blue man group. The constant changing of this act will additionally create another reason to come back and see the show again.

Admission for “Voix de Ville” will most likely cost $5 more or less for all ages except children 8 and below, who will be free.

Despite the prevalence of circus acts in traditional vaudeville type-performances of the glory days of French entertainment, there will be not be any because “cirque de soleil” fills this roll already. In order to maintain the purpose and uniqueness of “Cirque de soleil,” performances in “Voix de Ville” will not in any way overshadow the distinctiveness of its predecessor, (Cirque de Soleil).

Dining

Les Poches

Les Poches will obviously be a Parisian cuisine themed restaurant that will especially cater to a famous “repas” (meal), steak frites. Steak frites is a steak and fries dish that is extremely popular in France and consequently enjoyed by nearly all Americans. The restaurant will be relatively affordable but leaning towards the pricy side relative to Downtown Disney restaurant establishments. Check out the desserts! P.S. The Restaurant Logo is self-made!

The Second Restaurant in Petite Paris will be called “le fleur de Floride,” or the flower of Florida. The entrance to this restaurant will be a canopy of flowers. This restaurant will be a mix of both French cuisine and American dishes. Unlike “Les Halles,” this restaurant will be at a more affordable price and will be a more causal atmosphere. The restaurant will use both indoor and outdoor seating, weather permitting. The outdoor seating will be situated along the main walkway of Petite Paris. The main purpose of this in addition to creating an ambient atmosphere is to produce a bustling dining environment where customers can people watch, a common activity in Parisian restaurants.

Shopping

http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/7431/metrouo8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Store #1 will be called “le quotidien” meaning the daily life. The store will sell casual apparel as well as memorabilia from both French and American culture. The store’s theme will be comparable to an Urban Outfitter / Collector’s Store. The entrance to the shop will be an arched “metropolitan” sign, which is a famous French structure found throughout Paris at many underground train entrances. Memorabilia will be sold close to the entrance to the shop while men’s and women’s clothing will be showcased in the back. Clothing will be similar to that of Vans, Urban Outfitters, Roots Canada, and J Crew.

Store #2 will be titled Francois Francaise, (French Francis), and will be an upscale apparel store. Clothing that can be purchased here will be similar to that of Barney’s New York and Saxs Filth Avenue. Pricing will be relatively high which although may not be an incentive for children to shop, adults may find the store’s merchandise enticing.

The Park Median Kiosk: As seen in the map, there is a relatively small median in the middle of the expansion walkway that will have some trees and park benches, with gravel walkways. In this small park will be a kiosk selling magazines, beverages, and snacks, for those on the go.

Final Theming Details

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1266/promenadexr6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

To solidify the Floridian tinge to my French expansion, in addition to little tidbits within the restaurants and shops, the sidewalks will be lined with sable palms, the FL state tree, instead of the more common trees found in central Paris. Along the water will be a small promenade as well as the dock for the Port Orleans expressway boat to pick and drop guests off at. At night, lights will be illuminated not just from the Moulin de Floride theatre but from all the trees lining the sidewalks and the small park. Also, overhead lights will crisscross the pathways to create an always festive mood. Also, from time to time, Mimes and Impressionist Painters will be located throughout the walkway of the expansion for guest enjoyment.

For the Environment:
If possible, the expansion would be powered using solar electricity in order to show Disney’s care for the future condition of the earth. This does not effect the guests experience in any way. Solar Paneling will be placed on the non visible part of all rooftops in the expansion area. Neutralizing carbon use in this expansion will be a private goal of Disney.

Conclusion:
All in all, “Petite Paris” will be a source of fun for people of all ages. Children will adore the excitement of “voix de ville,” and will find both the memorabilia of “le quotidien” and the cuisine of the dining establishments to be new and adventurous.
Adults will be enchanted because of the ability to step into a European atmosphere without leaving the state of Florida. Hopefully, “Petite Paris” will be a family friendly atmosphere expansion to Downtown Disney that will take night activities to a new level in Disney vacationing.

Thanks for Reading!

Ultimately, I think my park is both a fantastic vision and a plausible reality. Keep the potential in mind when judging! Thanks!

Ok, the true CostaFreak has been unleashed one more time for this one, so here it is:

Entertainment District Expansion

http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb121/DisneyParksFan/realcf.jpg

That up there is the area where this expansion would take place. The expansion of the Entertainment District would include 5 new places to eat, shop, and watch performances. They are:

- The Center Stage
- Hair Brothers' Rock & Roll Cafe
- Jukebox Central
- Tony's Drive In
- World of Sports Store

First off, let's start with the entertainment:

The Center Stage - This new 10,000 seat performance amphitheater would be located in the parking lot behind the AMC Theaters (as seen in the picture above). Every night, a musical act would be performed there, from pop stars to underground bands. There would be a fee to get in, at the price would depend on who's performing. Day performances would be free of charge. The facade of the ampitheater would resemble a modern colosseum, and a large canopy wouuld be placed above to block sunlight for day performances. A bridge would connect to the Hair Brother's Rock & Roll Cafe to pass over the road between the Center Stage and the restaurant.

Hair Brother's Rock & Roll Cafe - This restaurant would be one of the biggest in Downtown Disney. The restaurant's theme is cut into 2. Near the entrance, the restaurant is themed to the rock of the 80's. The seating tables would look like Gibson Flying V electric guitars and the booths of this part would look like DeLoreans to match the 80's. Many posters of bands from the 80's, such as AC/DC, Van Halen, Twisted Sister, Guns & Roses, and Metallica are on the walls in this part of the restaurant.

The other half of the restaurant would be themed to the rock & roll era of the 50's and 60's. The seating of this area is only made up of many booths themed to look like cars from the 50's and 60's. Posters of bands from the 60's, such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience are posted up on the walls.

Menu: (all names of items themed to songs)

Soups:
-Chili Eruption (Spicy chili soup)
-Chicken Haze (Chicken soup)
-White Wedding (New England Clam Chouder)

Entrees:
-Enter Sandwich (Sub sandwitch featuring ham, swiss, lettuce, tomato, turkey, and vinegret. Comes with a side of chips and a drink).
-Sweet Chicken o' Mine (Fried chicken tenderloins. Comes with a side of fries and a drink).
-Burger Satisfaction (1/3 pound hamburger with melted swiss and mushrooms. Comes with a side of fries and a drink).
-Baby's Got Back Ribs (Baby back ribs. Comes with a side of fries and a drink).
-Sgt. Pepper's Chicken Pieces (3 peice chicken. Comes with a side of mashed potaotes and a drink).
-Pizza Outta Hell (Pizza slice. Comes with a side of fries and a drink).

Desserts:
-Back in Chocolate (Chocolate cake with fudge)
-Ride the Ice Cream (Ice Cream Sundae)
-Start It Up Iced Coffee (Iced Coffee)

Kids Meals:
-Chicken Strips (Comes with fries and a drink).
-Fish & Chips (Comes with fries and a drink).
-Hamburger (Comes with fries and a drink).
-Pizza (Comes with fries and a drink).

Jukebox Central - This store would be built across the way from Hair Brothers' Rock & Roll Cafe. The facade of the enterance looks like, well, a jukebox. This store would sell vinyl records and CD's, pluss many other musical antiques as well.

Tony's Drive In - This eating establishment would be built nearby the AMC Theaters. It is an outdoor diner themed to a drive in movie. A movie screen playing old 60's movies is put in the area to get the feel of the diner. Plus, many other things, like the counter where guests would get their food themed like a movie consession stand, makes the feel for the diner as well.

World of Sports Store - This store would be built right next to the ESPN Zone. The outside facade of the store looks like a sports arena. The items sold inside range from fan novelties to sports equipment of any kind.

Well, that does it for now. See you all again in a week!

Disneyfreak59's Project. Bear with me, this may be two or three posts long.

Downtown Disney?s Cartoon Districts:

Intro: I thought of doing a mini country like Europe or Asia, but I thought it may be a bit too similar to what epcot has, and I thought of doing a live theatrical show, but wondered, isn't that why we have mgm? This is the solution to my questions:

Ever sat down and watched one of your favorite Disney movies and said, wouldn?t it be neat to take a stroll on Monstropolis, Radiator Springs, or any of those neighborhoods? Thanks to the magic and creative minds at WDI, you can now take a step into the magic of Downtown Disney?s new expansion themed as cartoon districts. You may be thinking that this is similar to toontown, but in all reality, it isn?t anything like that. This was designed for all ages, from the toddlers, to the teens, to even the adults and the nightlife crowd. The districts here are exact copies of the neighborhoods you see in the movies. You will get the exact look of radiator sorings, monstropolous and ratatouille. This expansion has a sophisticated feel to it, and even a fun side to it. Some movies that may be featured in this expansion is, 101 Dalmatians, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Cars, Mulan, and so much more. I have featured in this project Ratatouille, Monster?s Inc, and Cars. With brand new fine dining facilities, and fun, new gift shops, this will be the place to either begin your day or vacation, or end your day and vacation! Imagine just taking a step into one of your favorite cartoons, and enjoying their lifestyle. A cartoon?s lifestyle. This new expansion is all about the experience you?re going to get and the new memories that will be made. Let?s begin unfolding the magic right now.

Location:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/aerialDD1.jpg

There will be 7 different, easy accesable entrances. 3 new ones in the front and side, and four already leading to the downtown disney main strip. one entrance was cut off so here is another photo of it.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/aerialDD2.jpg

Radiator Springs neighborhood.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/carsconceptDD4.jpg

I bet you never said to a friend, I took a stroll down on Radiator springs today and got a bite to eat at Flo?s V8 Diner, have you? I didn?t think so. In the little town of radiator springs you get to see Luigi?s tire shop, Flo?s Caf?, Cozy Cone gift shop, and the rest of the town!

Luigi?s Casa Della Doughnuts:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/carsconeptDD6.jpg

For Luigi?s tire shop, I decided to go with a doughnut shop! I was watching the movie and sketching up some concept art and though what to do with that building! Well, the tires to me really resembled a doughnut so I decided to go with a doughnut shop. But, to me, I don?t like anything ?ordinary? so an artisan doughnut shop where the doughnuts have actual shapes and designs on them. The glaze on the doughnut will be hand painted into pictures that look like a tire or anything car related. These are gourmet doughnuts that both kids and adults can enjoy and savor at a reasonable price. There will be tables and chairs alongside the inside the shop so you can sit and enjoy these artisan pastries with a view of Radiator Springs. On the other side of the doughnut shop will be the gift shop portion of Luigi?s Artisan doughnuts. As you know, Luigi LOVES his Ferrari?s, so you can buy Ferrari gear! You can get anything from the black leather jackets with the Ferrari logo, to a hat, key chain, t-shirt, shoes, etc. Heck! even Ferrari may be a fun sponsor for Disney in this portion of DD.

Cozy Cone Gift Shop:

Deciding what to do with the Cozy Cone was a tough decision, but I decided to go with a regular gift shop. The outside of course is just a big orange cone and the shop itself will feature Cars memorabilia. But for fun, different cone memorabilia. Ever wanted an orange cone as a hat like autopia? This shop is designed for anything that has to do with an orange cone whether it?s key chains, etc.

Flo?s V8 diner:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/v8dinerDDexpansion-1.jpg

Designing Flo?s V8 Diner was exciting! The exterior of the building is set just like the movie like everything else in the district. It looks like an actual V8 engine, and there are the ?gas tanks? outside with the over hang. By the gas tanks outside, there will be vehicle seating, much like the seating in the sci fi dine in theater. As you enter in the inside of the building you will notice it?s very much like a 60's diner with a half circle bar in the center and booths along the curve of the building. The chairs and tables are retro seating. Just shimmery, metallic red seats with a white table. The booths made alongside the curve of the inside of the building have large windows to where the customer may take a view of radiator springs. There are old pictures on the walls of route 66 and of course with your favorite characters from the movie, Cars. This diner is a warm, friendly environment, and a nice place to cool down on a hot summer day, or a fantastic way to begin your day for breakfast. Flo?s V8 diner serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lunch and dinner menus are the same except the breakfast obviously. Here, I have included just the breakfast menu:

Flo?s Caf? Breakfast Menu:

Flo?s Morning Fill Up: All served with a cup of fruit.

*Eggs and Bacon- Eggs cooked to order and 6 pieces of thick, smokey bacon.$10
*Eggs Benedict- Homemade eggs benedict served on English muffins and a special creamy sauce with a side of hash. $10
*Steak and Eggs- Steak and Eggs cooked to order, and served with a side of hash. $15
*French Toast- Freshly made french toast in a pan, and garnished with cinnamon powder. $6
*Buttermilk Pancakes- Route 66's favorite pancakes. 5 layers of thick pancakes served with butter and syrup. $8
*Waffles- Mickey shaped waffles made right when you order. Served with syrup and butter. $8
Fruit bowl- Seasonal fruit served with homemade granola and plain yogurt.$6

Mater?s Kid?s Menu:
Fruit and yogurt bowl. $3
Waffles. $5
Pancakes . $5
Eggs and Bacon (kid portioned)$6

Beverages:
Coffee (free refills)$2
Cappuccino$3
Juice (orange, cranberry, apple, pineapple, strawberry)$2
Iced Tea $2
Soft Drinks (coke, sprite, etc)$2

Ramone?s Body Art:

At Ramone?s, kids could get their faces painted, get henna tattoos, girls can get their hair braided, etc. It also serves as a gift shop that sells Disney inspired finger paints, or the really cool water crayons so that when you get wet they write on you. It may also sell do it yourself face painting kits and such along with temporary kids tattoos.

Big Red?s Flower Shop:

Red the fire engine now has his own flower shop! You can buy a variety of flowers here like roses, plumerias, calla lilies, sunflowers, and even stuff like bonsai trees and orchids! It?s all here! And if you?re concerned about the ride home with your plant they ship it to your home worldwide! A little kids section includes little paper dixie cups, soil, and sunflower seeds where they can plant their own flowers for free right there. As soon as they?re done all they have to do is take it home or back to the hotel! Just a way to make every little detail count for both parents and kids.

Monstropolous :

The city of Monstropolous is a ?roaring? place if I do say so myself. Also depicted from the movie, this new downtown area will feature an entertainment district and familiar places to eat, shop, relax, and just have fun! You don?t need a monster to shop and dine in the city monstropolous, and you don?t need to be a kid to have fun, so let?s get to this monster business!

Abominable?s Snow Cones:

Your friend the Abominable snowman from the movie, Monsters inc is back! The story behind this now is since monstropolous isn?t running on screams anymore and just laughs, they un-banned this friendly, furry friend! He decided to get a place of his own in monstropolous and open a snow cone shop! You can get an array of flavors from strawberry to chocolate, and a mystery flavor that?s colored yellow. Can you guess what it is? The snow cones sold here aren?t the hard as rock chip your teeth snow cones, they are the light and fluffy ones that you find a few minutes after a snowstorm. Also sold at the shop are flavored ice slushes, and popsicles. The interior and exterior of this building resembles an icebox. Exterior has 2 large glass doors that you can see through and around that is sheet metal with three large ?bolts? on each side, but at night serve as ice blue lights. The interior has ?ice?table and chairs which will be made of clear plastic to look like ice! The chairs are more like the round cupped modern stools you see and the stem that?s holding it up is just a silver pole with a white base. Same thing with the tables, the stem holding the top of the table in the middle is the silver pole and the ?ice? table is a clear round circle with a white base. The walls are an ice blue and the register counter is a sheet metal. It makes it easier to clean up melted ice with just a wipe! And the floors are large pieces of white tile. This is a fun way to retreat to in a hot, sunny Florida day, or just for dessert even! Trust me, Abominable?s snow cones is a hit with people of all ages. Cool and refreshing, fun to eat.

Harryhausen's Sushi Restaurant:

?Harryhausen?s?! It?s impossible to get reservations there!? It may be impossible to get in there for other monsters, but most definitely not for googly bear or YOU! In a matter of fact, you wont even need reservations to get into this fun and fancy sushi restaurant. Inspired by the movie, Monsters inc, Harryhausen?s will be the hip new place to settle down for lunch or dinner. The interior is exactly like the movie?s with a modern Japanese flare. Just like Monstropolous itself, it will be just like stepping into the movie and enjoying it for yourself. You can either sit at the sushi bar or have a seat in one of the cool booths surrounded by Asian screens. That way, it makes privacy for you and whoever you are with. This has a very calm and cool ambiance so you can relax and enjoy traditional sushi with a cup of sake. The benches are a dark, dark teakwood along with the tables. Some booths may get a view of monstropolous through a window and some may not. They do provide silverware upon request but on the table is a set of beautiful handmade chopsticks. The dishes are a modern square shape with a matching wasabi cup. The table setting is very ornate with a little acrylic, clear fish box with a single, little goldfish inside and deep ruby red ?tank? rocks at the bottom. Each sushi tray comes with an edible wild orchid. We all know the smallest touches make the most lasting impressions, and that?s what I would like to provide here.

Mike?s Comedy Club:

Mikes Comedy Club is an adults only activity which has celebrity comedians hosted every weekend. Adults may order alcoholic beverages, coffee, pastries and desserts. Dinner will NOT be served at the comedy club. There will be just one center stage and modern tables and chairs surrounding it, or modern style love seats with the micro fiber/suede material. A bar is in the front of the building and a lounge so that before and after the show you may hang out and meet new people, or have a drink or two! The lounge has a modern appeal to it with burgundy red walls, and recess lighting is up above. Now, this is all about keeping YOU entertained, and the comedians are suppose to make you laugh. On the right side of the stage is a laugh can. If he keeps you laughing then the can is filled up and the lights on stage are on. If he tends to bore you, the laugh meter goes down and so do the lights on stage. Upon entering there is a large, but gorgeous chandelier made with Italian blown glass, the colors of those are orange and blue swirled together. Inside the comedy club itself you are still able to order before the show or during the intermission. This was designed for adults to get away from it all while having a good laugh. Worried about where to have your kids? Next to the lounge will be a children?s room for them to watch movies. It?s a nice way to keep kids preoccupied for the next hour and a half, and there is adult supervision in there. That way there is no need to worry about what your kids are doing and where your kids are. The age limit for this is 13 and under. The kids will get complimentary treats such as cookies, ice cream or popcorn. In order to get into Mike?s Comedy Club you must have bought your tickets at least 24 hours in advance either buy walking in and purchasing, or calling from your Disney hotel room.

Celia?s Serenity Spa:

Sometimes on a Disney trip you really need to be pampered a bit or rejuvenated to get back into action at the parks again. Celia will fix that up for you! A calm environment with white walls, couches, chairs and tables, with accents like ruby red, teal, and chocolate brown wither on pictures on certain pieces of furniture. Don?t be afraid to indulge yourself in monster seaweed wraps, hot mud baths filled with minerals, sauna?s, Jacuzzi?s, a heated pool, a variety of facials, an array of face masks, manicures, pedicures, back rubs, chocolate wraps and so much more! If you visit Celia?s spa and get any of the menu items done there, she invites you to her personal favorite restaurant, Harryhausen?s for a complimentary sushi roll. This to me is a definite must for the cartoon district area for mothers or even fathers to just indulge.

Ratatouille District- Paris:

Ahhh the city of romance, and food. This is Remy?s neck of the town, especially when it come to food. The ratatouille district is obviously themed after Paris with classical structures. I have included Gusteau?s restaurant, just like the movie, and an original, new shop called shop red, and a really neat way of entertainment which is...well I guess you?ll have to read the rest and see!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/ratatouilleDDconcept1.jpg

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/disneygeek59/ratatouilleconceptDD4.jpg

Gusteau?s Restaurant:

Gusteau?s is a fine dining restaurant just like the movie itself. With reservations only, this is the hot spot for fine dining. Unlike some french restaurants where they have Americanized dishes with french names, this is the real deal. Authentic french country food right on your dinner table. This restaurant has a very romantic and classy feel. As you enter this fine dining facility just check in with the Maitre D, and voila! You will be seated! The dining room is one large circle with elegant round tables and chairs. The wall color is a classy deep red, along with the carpet. The carpet has a gold pattern on it, and there are white table cloths on the table. A beautiful ice sculpture is the centerpiece of the lobby with changing colored lights underneath it.There is one large gold chandelier in the top, middle of the dining room and other elegant lighting structures above various tables. Right behind where you check in, is a gas powered fireplace, and large bay windows along the walls. Everything is exactly like the movie shows it to be. This can either be a casual or a fine dining restaurant. Either way, this unique experience has something for everyone. Here is the menu:

Remy?s Cheese Stop:

http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/gallery/files/1758-RatatouilleconceptDD3.jpg

A nice way to sit and enjoy yourself is to have a plate of different cheeses and a glass of wine. At Remy?s cheese stop, you can do just that! Wine specialists guide your way to find the perfect wine for you, and the perfect cheeses to go with it! Whether it be Brie, Goat Cheese, Bleu cheese, Morbier, etc. With over 30 variety?s of french cheese, and 25 different wine selection there is something for everyone to indulge in. The wine itself will feature something called enomatic, which is a machine that dispense the wine for you! Just buy a pre-paid card, insert it into the card slot, push a button for either a sample or a full glass, and it dispenses the wine for you! It?s very innovative and interactive, and extremely easy to use! Then, tell a cast member what wine you have, and they will match you up with the perfect cheese! For the kids, we have different crackers, and fruit such as grapes and apples with drinks like grape juice or cranberry juice so they wont feel left out! The interior is a very modern appeal with the colors white and chocolate brown. There is literally a round circle bar in the center of the building. Along the two side walls are the enomatic machines with the different wines, and up against the very back of the wall is the cheese display where they pair it with your wine!

Shop Red:
This idea came about just laying in bed actually, a shop that sells ANYTHING red. Whether it be red shoes, purses, key chains, lightning Mcqueen car models, jewelry, hats, just anything as long as there was red in it. It would just be a fun place to visit and shop. I would personally enjoy going into a shop that specifically sells red items or just any color. The interior will not be red, instead, I thought a color that compliments red well will look nice. So, with that being said, there will be teal-ish green walls on the inside and cream white shelves and trims and displays with golden brown hints here and there. With the teal walls, it will bring out the color red and make it more appealing to both the eyes and the customers.

Icestraveganza!

In icetraveganza, you enter a room with a round miniature stadium seating arrangement, possible 30 rows) and you look down and see 5 large blocks of ice. You will actually get to watch professional ice carvers do what they do best, carve gorgeous ice sculptures! With a price of $10 for adults, and $5 for kids, you will see just that! Free beverages like soda, water, and iced tea are served to you as you get ready to watch ice carvers in action. They will also explain to you the different tools and techniques they have to sculpt the ice. At the end of the show you may go down and look at these sculptures yourself, take pictures of them, etc. These sculptures are also featured in Gusteau?s restaurant.

In conclusion:

If you haven?t asked yourself this already, then go ahead and do so now, ?wouldn?t it be awesome to step into a cartoon?s neighborhood and lifestyle?? I have asked myself that for awhile, and answered yes. Now that you have seen my presentation, you too may answer that very same question! This is a very neat experience outside of any Disney theme park, and the best part is, it can be for all ages. Remember all of the neighbor hodds are on one street and they gradually flow together. You have asked me, ?So, you want to be an Imagineer?? My answer? Yes. thank you for your time

Unfortunately, I just was not able to submit a project for this one. I guess that means I will be the one who is eliminated. I am planning my wedding right now - it will be over in 2 weeks, but until then, I don't have half as much time as I'd like for fun things like this contest. I was hoping I'd make it through the first part and really be able to come up with some great things after the wedding (instead of the night before quick throw-togethers I have done this far). Hopefully, I will be able to participate next time!

i don't mean to question your authority DIsneyParksFan, but just to be sure, do you have a plan on how the rest of these competition rounds are going to play out. You seem to change everything every other day and it makes it seem like you don't know how its going to play out. srry to seem inquisitive

Good question.
I did have every project planned out. But then people kept leaving after each round, which would change how the next round was going to be played out...so yes, during some moments I dont exactly know how it is going to play out. Since this is a new thing, theres sure to be many changes until we find what is the right formula for the competition to work on this site.
Im also not blaming anybody that left. Things come up, it happens to everybody and we all understand.
Hopefully, the competition can now run smoothly with little problems!

Location: 19/20?the main problem here for me was that there was only the one man entrance/exit to this area. That could cause some congestion. But by blocking in the walkways, it does create the theme and atmosphere you were looking for. I would have liked another exit walkway though.
Creativity: 20/20?good design concept.
Theming: 19/20?Excellent work on the theming! The only main issue was the trees along the water?would have liked them to match the Paris atmosphere.
Realism: 19/20?Very realistic! Would have liked to maybe see some small leading out and away from the main area. Plus, you blocked out the parking lot. People who park there will now have to walk around all the buildings to find an entrance.
Original Dining: 10/10?Excellent! Though, I hope the dishes change with the seasons?just a thought.
Original Shopping: 10/10?Perfect?matches the atmosphere on the area. Possibly some sidewalk style sales?
Original Entertainment: 9/10?Would have liked to have the theatre area placed at the North end of the area instead since you would probably run into a major congestion issue at the entrance to your area because you have two theatres exiting into one central area.
Detail: 10/10?great work. Keep up the fun projects!
Final Comments: Thank you for using a map! The project was great all round. It was nice seeing an upscale designed area that actually blends in with the West Side/Pleasure Island atmosphere. Keep up this type of work.

Location: 19/20-I can pretty much see it, I'm a LITTLE concerned about space, but no big deal, I'm sure it can be pulled off
Creativity: 17/20-My question to you is this, what about the French Pavilon at the World Showcase? I wish you would of brought this issue up. Other then that though, it was pretty cool
Theming: 16/20-I found it pretty cleaver, however you didn't really put that much detail into the outside.
Realism: 17/20-My criticism on realism is somewhat unique, in that I can see the whole thing being done, however I'm not sure how younger kids would react to it.
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 8/10-I would of liked to of seen a bit more variety, but other then that it was good
Original Shopping: 8/10-Well, I think the whole boutique would be a bit upscale for the typical visitor, but the other one I really liked
Original Entertainment: 8/10-Ok, you have to realize that two hours is just an EPIC ammount of time for a show in Disney, I mean on Broadway or Vegas maybe, but not at Disney, kids will just get uber-antzy. I DID like the idea however
Detail in Presentation: 9/10-Just need a FEW more things, but overall great job
Overall Score: 102/120

Comments: Ok, one quick comment, just please refrain from using that red text, haha, hard to read. I really think you put a HUGE ammount of detail into this, which really impressed me. Great job, I think this idea is more fit for Vegas then Disney, but still I really liked it

Original Dining w/ menu(s): 10/10 oh, I wish this was what they served at EPCOT!

Comments: I really like this idea; it?s very smart using the Parisian influence of ?La Nouba? to inspire ?Petite Paris?. The teeming sounds very immersive and I think can really transport you to France. Now this does not go without its cons. For one thing, I understand the concept and idea of ?Petite??, but I just think it?s a very radical transition from the rest of DTD that is a fairly normal outlet shopping area. Another is it seems very out of place, and I think it would better fit as its own as a boutique area or positioned in the French Quarter area of Port Orleans. Another is it seems like a rehash of what you can experience at Epcot in the France pavilion. Now onto ?Voix de Ville?, I like the entertainment you have lined up, I wished you been a bit more specific on the Mime act, and Act IV I feel should have a permanent finale act, as I see a constantly changing finale act will be a bit odd from the rest of the show, guests would have to wait through three acts just to see what they came for? Another is $5 is not enough to pay for the performers; the price would have to be a bit higher. I strongly think that it being themed to the ?Moulin Rouge? is bad; you?ll need to work on that. One thing to remember is that it would be in direct competition with Cirque du Soleil so I?m not sure how that would pan out. Your menu for Les Poches was very detailed, I got hungry reading a few of them. Now, with all this thought out, the biggest concern I have is if this will fit into the area you want, and not taking into consideration backstage areas. As I have said before I?m a stickler on making sure that you think of everything onstage and backstage. Without backstage none of the Disney Parks would be able to operate. But overall, I love it, but I don?t feel it belongs as part of DTD.

Location: 20/20?It fits and since it is ticketed, there should really only be one main entrance since it isn?t connected to anything else.
Creativity: 15/20?I thought it was creative, show sounds likes fun?but it seems like an odd concept to try.
Theming: 12/20?I think the theming for each area works as a whole, but they barely fit together as one area. I think you should have stuck to one theme and held it throughout so that the project seems more realistic. Some of the theming choices were interesting?like having a King Arthur theme in Action City.
Realism: 7/20?sorry, but I really just cannot see this coming together as a successful nighttime area. I like the idea of having bowling and a pool type but it seems like a weird mix, the way you put it together. Maybe if you stuck to one audience a little better instead of trying to involve the entire family. For instance, maybe some nightclubs, dancing areas, and lounges. Honestly, your project was an interesting choice without a strong storyline...everything seemed to come together creating a weird mix, which actually has very little to experience for $15.00. Another problem is that when does this area actually open and when does it close? Does it open after the parks close, if so?that could be around midnight, which is a little late for kids. Since it is a ticketed place, I assume it does close?but exactly when?
Original Dining: 10/10?Good work
Original Shopping: 6/10?I wish you would have explained in detail more about this shop, it seems a little too bland the way you talked about it.
Original Entertainment: 10/10?Sounds good
Detail: 8/10?Would have liked more on the other features of the areas. Like what do the entrance look like, where are the restrooms? Stuff like that.
Final Comments: Again, interesting choice. Would have liked to know if it directly connects to DD area via walkway, bus?monorail? Hopefully your next project will be a hit with the judging again. Keep working, you?ll be fine if u do.

Location: 15/20-Ok, you provided a map, so that was good, however believe me, I'm VERY familar with that parking lot (We always stay at PPH lol) and there's just not enough room, it'd be a big stretch
Creativity: 18/20-There's some things I didn't care for, like a private Spa being one third of the thing, but besides that you did a good job
Theming: 16/20-One thing I didn't get is why is the Sword in the Stone in the ultra-modern Action City? Plus, the whole spa thing
Realism: 10/20-It seems like a tight fit, and some of the things I just couldn't see, like the bowling alley seemed a little over the top, sorry
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 8/10-I think you could of put more variety into the menu, but other then that, it was good.

Comments: First off the location seems very odd to me, I would have preferred it closer to DTD. It just seems a bit distant to me. Now on to the surrounding lands. I really like the idea of the King Arthur Arcade, the theming can be really cool. And with action city you say full of lights, I would have liked it if you elaborated on it a bit more. Now the Incredibles stunt show, first off for a Stunt show its just a bit chatty, I know, it needs a story but I think this story seems more like a premise for a movie itself or a ride. I also didn?t like how the show would be announced on a PA all over the place. My suggestion is make it a real state of the art theatre that can be used for concerts, and Broadway style shows, I.e. La Nouba in Orlando. Think of a couple out on a night of fun, they eat dinner and want to see a show, they aren?t going to want to see a stunt show. And you weren?t very specific on if the stage would be outdoors or indoors. And what if it rains they show would have to be cancelled. Next we move on to The Swingin Jungle Avenue, the name seems a bit off to me. And like I said before, you could have elaborated on the theming a bit more in depth. To me the bowling alley seems very out of place, and I think the elaborate theming inside Can get a bit distracting. Now with the Spa, I feel it?s a bit unfair that guests will come to this then find themselves being barred from it. It seems more of something you would find at a hotel. Overall, I like where your going, but its just not Disney to me, it seems like you wanted to create an elaborate version of a Boomers! Or one of those other Family Entertainment centers you find. And I don?t think that?s there is worth $15 just to walk in. I feel that each respective offering should have its own fee or separate ticket. And on the realistic side, this really doesn?t look like it could fit into a park lot. You have to keep in mind that services areas have to be added, Delivery areas would need to be thought of. The way you planned it, shows that the entire area in that drawing would encompass the parking lot. Which would leave no room for the services and delivery areas. The stage alone would need a loading dock and mechanical area. Imagineers don?t just draw up the onstage stuff, they also draw up the backstage stuff as well and take those areas into great consideration, seeing how most backstage areas are how the rides, shows, shops, restaurants, and attractions get there daily maintenance. When I design projects I layout how big I want my area to be, then I draw in the buildings and such and backstage areas are what is left, If a backstage areas is not big enough, buildings must be revised.

Location: 19/20?good location in the heart of everything, but you would be doing away with some prime parking spots?maybe add a garage or something?
Creativity: 17/20?nice idea. Though the comedy club does remind me a little of the attraction at MK, but I do see how it is different. The entire idea though sounds like an updated Toontown?but for the DD atmosphere.
Theming: 15/20?The theming is fine when looking at each individual area, but it becomes an issue when you try and put them all together to create one central theme. The problem is being a reader, you?re not exactly sure how and where these different areas run into another. Are they all centered around a hub in the center? Theming though for the restaurants sound awesome! Would have also liked it
Realism: 14/20?It is a little strange to create something that is toon-themed in a district of shopping and dining that has no connection to toons at all. For adults without kids, they would probably stay away from this area as a whole because of its toon theme. Know theres the comedy club, but I don?t think too many would venture into the land if its all the way in the back?if its in the front, that?s a little more understandable. I like the concepts, but I would like them better if it was a theme park. I think you created a theme park atmosphere for a DD area.
Original Dining: 10/10?nice and upscale-ish?good menu! I also liked the donut shop.
Original Shopping: 10/10?good shopping choice
Original Entertainment: 10/10?nice, simple, and entertaining! Nothing big, but it would draw in the money.
Detail: 9/10?good work on the details!
Final Comments: I enjoyed your other two projects more than this one. Like I said earlier, it feels like this ?land? would fit better into a theme park. You tried something different, it might work, it might not. But, it probably would stand the test of time better if it didn?t include theming that could be outdated in ten years. Oh yeah! The flower shop might not work for international visitors since it is often illegal to transport plants out of a country and into another?not sure exactly what plants you would be having there.

Location: 17/20-Once agian, it'd be a tight fit, but I think it could work, you did a good job with not going over the top.
Creativity: 18/20-Pixar strikes agian!! But seriously, it was very creative, I would of just liked to of seen more completely original things and not just replicas of film locations
Theming: 20/20-It did a great job of transporting me into that world!
Realism: 17/20-Only thing that worries me is, agian, the spacing issues
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 9/10-Would of liked to of seen a broader menu for both, but other then that I really liked your dinning, kudos on posting prices
Original Shopping: 10/10-All really well done
Original Entertainment: 2/10- I guess you guys didn't understand that we wanted an original act, not just a performing venue. And you had the ice sculptors, but what did ice sculpting have to do with anything?
Detail in Presentation: 10/10-Yep, you are by all means a pro when it comes to sucking me into the world you are trying to create.
Overall score: 103/120
Comments: A great project, that's all I can say! I love how you took the incredible worlds of Pixar and put them into a realistic live action enviroment

Location: 20/20 PERFECT! Love how you included all the entrances too.
Creativity: 20/20 Amazing job
Theming: 20/20 Great work!
Realism: 20/20 What's great about bulding over a parking lot in DD is that (unlike DL) you're using up alot of usually unused space.
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 9/10 Love how you made a Gusteus restaraunt. Plus, many guests will be wanting to try Ratatouille
Original Shopping: 10/10 Good, good
Original Entertainment: 5/10 This is the only area which I found to be lacking. The adult only theme has me a little worried, and not many families would want to sit down for a while and watch an ice carver carve ice.
Detail in Presentation: 7/10 A map of the area would've been great, but otherwise, it was great!
Overall: 111/120- Great job! I was very impressed with your work.

Comments: Wow, I was very impressed with this project. At first I thought, like you mentioned in the beginning, that this would just be a giant boutique Toontown. But I realized as I read on there is much more than meets the eye here. First let?s go to Radiator Springs. The cone shop, Luigi?s, Big Red?s, and Ramone?s all sound like great shopping experiences. Flo?s sounds very fun; you just weren?t that specific on how big it really is. And my concern is that it will feel like a clone of Sci-Fi dine in but with a new theme. Now to Monstropolis which was my favorite. The Abominable Snowman?s place sounds really fun, I like the idea of entering a giant icebox and everything being like your inside a giant freezer, very nice touches. Harryhausen?s sound so fun I want to go there now. Mike?s Comedy Club sounds good, but the ?comedy venue? already exists in the form of the Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurer?s Club, so I think it a bit of overkill. Celia?s Spa was a nice touch, and the complimentary sushi would be a nice perk. Now onto Paris, you must be careful here as to not recreate what already exists at Epcot, but I think you?ve done it well. Gusteau?s sounds very nice, the traditional French cuisine could take off nicely I think. Remy?s Cheese Shop is very interesting, a good spot for people to relax over a bottle of wine, very good. Shop Red sounds interesting. Icestraveganza! sounds a bit odd, I mean you can watch people carve ice sculptures at a county fair, I?m not really sure people would stay in long enough just to watch someone turn a chunk of ice into a goose. All in all I think this would be a very nice addition, you take the realistic side of the animated movies that can meld well in a real world setting. The location being right behind PleasureIsland is a bit of an odd space being that its being the adult nighttime area. But I think it could work. I?m not completely sure if this can fit into that area, including all the required facilities. But I think that can easily be remedied. And I think for this to work well you should never see characters or at least not see them a lot. But excellent work nonetheless. lots of great detail and visuals.

Location: 5/20?5 because you mentioned exactly where some would go, but besides that?I clueless as to where anything is.
Creativity: 10/20?10 because everything seems to be like something that already exists. You have the rock and roll themed restaurant, which seems like Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Caf? and there?s the sports store next to ESPN Zone, even though there is already a small sports store inside the ESPN place.
Theming: 9/10?there really wasn?t that much explained about the theming except for a few details about the Hair Brothers place.
Realism: 20/20?even though there really wasn?t much explained, it is highly realistic! Everything really would blend and connect to the themes around it. Nice!
Original Dining: 7/10?explained earlier about the rock place. I didn?t like the menu there though and the drive-in does sound awesome! Maybe more details though next time?
Original Shopping: 5/10?again, not that original for the sports store, but the jukebox-themed place is nice.
Original Entertainment: 7/10?really isn?t that original, but it is something that would definitely work!
Detail: 3/10?very little detail.
Final Comments: the score wont show it and the comments probably wont either, but I thought you were on the right track and then the details never came. Maybe you had a time issue or something, idk?but this could have been a fun project in the end.

Location: 20/20-Very good location, fits in nicely
Creativity: 16/20-I like the idea of a rock and roll themed district, I just don't think it was executed to its fullest potential
Theming: 16/20-Same comments as above
Realism: 18/20-The walkways confuddle me, but other then that I could see it all
Original Dining w/ menu(s): 10/10-Probably my favorite menu I've seen so far, very creative
Original Shopping: 5/10-More DETAIL. I like the idea of a reccord store, but besides the exterior, to me you did nothing to distinguish it from like just another Sam Goody
Original Entertainment: 1/10-You made an ampitheater, but it's not original by any stretch of the imagination. I was looking for an actual act, not just a place for a variety of them
Detail in Presentation: 5/10-Lacking, IMO. You just didn't put in the ammount of detail needed, sorry
Overall Score: 91/120
Comments: I love the idea, you just needed alot more detail then what was presented, and I have a feeling you kind of misread the whole original entertainment thing. Still, it was pretty good

Location: 10/20- Though you gave a picture, you never said where it was. Is it in DL or WDW?
Creativity: 15/20- Not alot, I must say
Theming: 7/20- The entire idea seems like a bunch of ideas thrown together.
Realism: 20/20- Pretty realistic
Original Dining w/ menu(s):8/10- while the food sounds good, I just think that there are'nt that many meals to choose from. drive in sound great BTW.
Original Shopping: 8/10- Though it sounds like a cool idea, not many people who visit the parks actually want to own vinal records.
Original Entertainment: 7/10- Not much creativity, but it works.
Detail in Presentation: 4/10- The idea was hard to follow, since you didn't give any location what so ever.
Overall: 79/120- This idea realy didn't get to me i guess. better luck next time.

Comments: Ok first off, your description of where the area would encompass was very vague. Secondly I was quite confused in your descriptions. You didn?t give details as to where each building would be located. An aerial view with boxed off areas would have been nice showing where each would go. The area you choose for your expansion seems a bit small for what you want to do. The 10,000 seat amphitheater not only is pointless, but would take up the entire parking lot. That area I also believe is Cast Member Parking. You have the House of Blues that already has rock bands and other performing groups that sing there. So your entertainment venue would be pointless. I thought of an idea; to remove the AMC theatres inside the building and had a number of entertainment venues such as, a small theater for shows, a maybe a karaoke bar, a recording studio where guests could record their own CD, etc. Tony?s Drive In would never fit into that small area, along with the amphitheater and the shopping, would never fit. Don?t forget that you also need service areas for these stores, restaurant and the entertainment venue. I don?t get why you are building another sports themed store right next to a sports restaurant. Why don?t you just expand the ESPN Zone to include an ESPN shop. I really like your Jukebox Central. The idea of the outside looking like a jukebox is very creative, but would there be sound coming from the building to act as if it?s a real jukebox, and maybe you could show that song selector moving on the inside. I really liked how you went with an expansion rather than a new area. But you have to keep in mind that space is everything and theming needs to stay intact. Not to mention backstage areas, are key to making Disney Parks operate. I?m a stickler on realism and well thought out projects that include mention of backstage areas. Layout of an area is what makes the area interesting and not just buildings thrown around.

I knew this would happen, since I only had 3 days to put something down before I went off on vacation.

At least I have something up my sleve for the next project.
