Child Left In Stroller At Disney World (http://www.cfnews13.com/News/Local/2007/6/25/child_left_in_stroller_at_disney_world.h tml)
Central Florida News 13
A mother and father are facing child neglect charges after deputies say they left their young child in the hot sun at Disney World.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, Juan and Dannette Rodriguez left the 3-year-old sitting in a stroller in the sun while they went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
The little girl was there for 45 minutes. By the time anyone noticed, the girl was unresponsive due to heat exhaustion and had to be revived by paramedics.
The parents were arrested without incident.
The girl was placed with relatives.
Deputies and the Department of Children and Families continue their investigation.

What makes this all the more idiotic is that there are numerous shaded areas in that area that they could have left the stroller in.
These parents deserve an award:

That's just plain horrible. It disgusts me to even read that.

Well... even though they are *idiots* *cough, cough*, at least they didn't do it intentionally of trying to heat-exhaust the kid. (I think). Poor kid, though!

This reminds me of the time I had to be with a little boy because he had to be with his baby brother while his parents went on BTM, and the boy was only 7 years old and it was at night, and reading this just sickens me how some parents are careless with their children.
The fact that they left the child in the sun is outrageous enough, but regardless of whether the stroller was in the hot sun or in the cool shade, these people left their child completely unattended! A total stranger could have absconded with their child for who-knows-what evil purpose!
Ugh, this is just so wrong. I can't even imagine it.

Why didn't they just take the little girl on Pirates with them? As a parent, I could never leave my child unattended in the hot sun for 1 minute let alone 45. I am so glad she's going to be okay.

See if disney would've just put fastpass in...
yeah that's sad. if it was anything but a child it'd be an honest mistake but as a parent you have to have more responsibility than that and never assume someone has your kid, make sure of it.

No Kidding! Don't give opportunities in or out of the Disney Resorts!
I can think of times I've seen people leave there little ones unattended for short periods of time. I am afraid to mention where for fear some wacko may get an idea. Parents please take them with you! It doesn't take more than a few moments for something bad to happen. Is it that inconvenient to protect your little loved ones?
As the Summer heats up protect little ones from the sun especially in those peek hrs between 10AM and 4PM. Shade as much as possible, Sunblock, water, and what a good excuse for those cute little hats.

I think he was doing a 'blonde joke'...
Yeah, this is just terrible... Would they leave a child in a hot car too?.. Blech..

Seriously...They could at least take turns riding Pirates while looking after the kid...That's really stupid to just leave him there hoping he'll be there still when they're back or hoping he's still alive.

There's no excuse for that. That's totally unacceptable. People like that have no business being parents. Granted yes, I realize parents make mistakes, but not one like that!

We took our 13month old on Pirates 4 times he loved 3 of them and slept through one of them.
Needless to say they shouldn't have been parents in the first place.

It reminds the time when I was in Universal and we were going on King Kong. And I was 8ish. And I didn't want to go. Because it was scary. But then, I went becasue I didn't want to be alone.

My stomach churnes when reading this, how can leaving your child outside even slip their minds? Pirates would have let her go it and its cool in there and if maybe she was not feeling well or whatever the case was she still could have gone on the ride. When I read stories about this happening not just at WDW, but quite frankly anywhere it makes me wonder what kind of parents these people really are? That is very sad, that especially at a super busy place like WDW, like mentioned before, she could have gotten abducted and they wouldn't even know what happened to her. You may be at the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH, but that doesn't the people there are going to be THE HAPPIEST OR SAFEST PEOPLE. I hope they learned, and will hopefully never do that again!

Man I'm glad this story came out better than it could have. Family Court needs to sentence the parents to take parenting courses that they must pay for from their own pockets and not the tax-payer's pocket, or award custody to a responsible relative. If all else fails, strip them of custody and have the child placed in the foster care system. Even though I would hate for the child to go through the "system", it's alot better than carelessly being put in life threatening situations by numbskull parents.

That is sooo sad. If I would have witnessed it I would have been so mad. Sadly chances are this isn't the first time its happened. The parents probably leave her other places as well.

As many have stated, this is sickening.
Unfortunately people are dumb. At the amusement park I work at, parents leave their kids alone all the time. "Oh, sorry hun, you're too short to ride the bumper cars, go wait over by the exit." ARE YOU KIDING ME?!? I feel bad enough telling them they can't ride, I feel horrible when their parents leave them like that! I try my best to keep an eye on those kids because I'm worried about them, while their parents enjoy their ride.
Once, myself and the others working my group of rides got chewed out by an angry guest because we 'made his daughter cry'... because we confronted her when her family was no where to be found.
It's really, really sad.

Well, first off, what adult wants to ride the Autopia? Second of all, I've seen kids alone near the exits of rides such as Tower of Terror and Space Mountain. It sickens me that parents would just leave their kid alone. They could get kidnapped or something like that. Third of all, I just watched "America's Most Wanted" and they said that there is a child predator around the Orlando theme parks.
Parents, please NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD(REN) UNATTENDED! Not only is it good parenting, but you're protecting your kids from weird people whose love lives are so bad that they have to chase after young kids. NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD(REN) UN-FREAKIN'-ATTENDED!
Thank you....

And if the child had died, these would be the parents to sue Disney. Just another example of what I'm seeing more and more in my middle school classes - a sense of entitlement coupled with a lack of personal responsibility for one's actions. I'm just thankful they don't seem to be in the majority - yet.

They're not? Ever hear of a little girl called Paris Hilton? Lindsay Lohan? Britney Spears? Overindulged enclaves like Scottsdale AZ or Bel Aire CA - the homes of the real desperate housewives. These are the role models of today's youth. I pity the future.

With names like Juan and Dannette Rodriguez, I doubt the mother is blond....
Sadly, stupid breeds too fast. Some people are to inept to be parents. Just becasue you can make kids doesn't mean you should.

Hmm the parents could of bee european, I've taken a few years of german, and its not common for parents to go to a restaraunt, and leave the child in a window outside, or leave a child in the car. Why? There isn't as much crime, and its not too hot. My aunt is german and almost left her kids in the car in Arizona, now when its 110 outside it can get as hot as an oven inside the car, thank goodness my mother told her about that.

First of all, Lindsay Lohan is a natural redhead--not a blonde--and second of all, please don't generalize like this. There are very smart and very dumb people in this world and I believe their hair color has very little to do with it. My daughter is a blonde, but got 1200 on her SAT's 5 years ago and already owns her own home =)

I hate it when people do that essentially with a ride with no Hight requirement to ride it , take the kid or kids with you on it not that hard to do. I hate leaving my little sister alone even if I'm right next to her trying to get in to the tea cups at DLR can't imagine what it would be like if she was left there all alone for 45 minutes
