The Disneyland Resort has partnered with the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts?California?s Premier Fine Art Exhibition for a joint celebration of the Festival?s 75th anniversary of leadership in the arts, and the Resort?s Year of a Million Dreams, in which guests? dreams are being fulfilled through a variety of unusual entertainment experiences and other surprises. The two Orange County-based landmarks are commemorating these milestones with a special exhibition on display throughout the Festival?s anniversary season of July 1, 2007 through August 31, 2007 (closed July 4 and August 25).
The exhibition, entitled Dream, Imagine, Create: The Art of Disney Parks, will feature work inspired by both this year?s Pageant of the Masters production entitled, ?Young at Heart,? and the magical, ?Where Dreams Come True? spirit of Disneyland Resort?s Year of a Million Dreams celebration. Works of art in the exhibition include pieces commissioned from artists from various segments of the Walt Disney Company, including Imagineering, Publishing and Consumer Products, in addition to artwork created by aspiring junior artists from the Orange County Children?s Therapeutic Arts Center during a special event held at the facility in April. There, Disney artists and Festival of Arts artists Hal Lambert, Mada Leach and Howard O?Donnell mentored the young artists by encouraging creativity and offering artistic guidance. As a result, the students produced an array of pieces of which 12 were chosen to be a part of the ?Dream? exhibition.
Dream, Imagine, Create: The Art of Disney Parks will debut on the Festival of Arts Opening Day, Sunday, July 1, 2007 with a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and repeated at 12:30 p.m. Special guests Mickey Mouse and a Disneyland Resort Ambassador will join Festival of Arts President Anita Mangels to unveil the exhibition and a living tableau recreating ?Waiting for Mom,? a featured painting by George Scribner of Walt Disney Imagineering.
