I am an aspiring imagineer. I am currently a junior in high school with 1 years knowledge of Auto Cad and two years of architecture. I came up with an idea to remodle and renovate a carousel in a local park that has been run down. I thought it would be a great idea to express my creativity and would definately be great hands on experience for becoming an imagineer. Do you guys have any suggestions? I emailed the company that built the carousel 58 years ago and i have their support. I would like to talk to the city council to get my plan comissioned. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Can you show us a picture displaying the carousel's current state?

well there aren't any pictures of the carousel online but it was made by the alan hershcell company. the carousel was constructed in a way so that it would be easy to transport by truck meaning that it wasn't built as a permanent structure and therefore doesn't have a whole lot of detail. also, it was built over 50 years ago so it is in a decaying state. my primary goal is just to restore its beauty and add a center structure to cover the mechanical machine from the rider's vision which would make the carousel more aesthetically pleasing. from an imagineering standpoint, im obviously going to do a lot of research on painting schemes, as repainting is a major part of what i hope to do but as other aspiring imagineers, do you guys have any ideas?

Are you just painting it or does the project also include adding new details. I know you said about creating a cover in the center to hide the mechanical work. I would suggest, if possible, adding either the classic mirror look on the walls or maybe some murals or simple, elegant colors. :)
Sorry, im just trying to understand the project.

i definately agree about the whole mural / mirror aspect, that is what i envisioned. I was hoping to create a whole new painting of the horses similar to those at the magic kingdom parks. primarily white haired horses and then color on other aspects like the saddle. however, i recently found out that there is an organization already dedicated to renovating this carousel. i still hope that i can contribute a lot

i don't own it but there is an organization which is dedicated to renovating it every so often. I hope that its a good experience for me and in turn will ultimately add to my potential to be an imagineer
