View Full Version : Legacy Leaving
Leave a Legacy has been a part of Epcot Center for seven and a half years. During that time many guests have left their image engraved on giant walls in front of Spaceship Earth. This year Disney will be ending the Leave a Legacy program. The kiosk under Spaceship Earth will be removed. The Leave a Legacy structures will remain so those who purchased to have their photo etched into the wall will still be able to see their picture. Could the Wand be next?;)

Personally, I'd remove that graveyard before I removed the wand. Such a drab entrance to such a great park.

I agree with PPM. They should have gone with something similar to what Disneyland has and done special engraved stones or something.

And know that you wasted 250 dollars on a legacy..I Think not.

Well I do not recall how much but it was expensive. Disney does request always arm & leg payment in everything. majority of the time it is worth it unless you pay twenty dollars for water

I was going to do it until I saw just how teeny-tiny and how grainy the pictures are. 'Leave a Legacy' hardly, more like 'Your face on a bad Xerox copy the size of a Nickel'

We got one for our honeymoon there, but didn't get our pictures taken for it. We chose one of their little icons instead (which comes out much better than the photos), and put our names on it and the year. I'm almost certain it cost $25; we thought it was worth it.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh foulish mortals...
Talking about a graveyard,
where Mighty Disney Co. is misleading the people,
disguised as an ordinary beggar...
How charming can they be
Ohhhhhh foolish mortals...

Apparently the contract for buying a Leave a Legacy image says that the image only has to be displayed somewhere in WDW in any format for a certain amount of time. That means that at some point they could tear down the gravestones, and possibly just display the pictures on a computer kiosk somewhere or something to that effect and still be fulfilling the contract.
I just don't see this leading to anything substantive.
Legacys are worthfull towards THOSE organisations or projects that NEED money, so you really sustain them...
Here, you throw it away to an extremely rich company, for some foolish idea about yourself?...................
Talking in-depht about this, you see? Not talking about whether or not they bury the graveyard.

They DO!! Walk around outside the entrance to MK They have THOUSANDS of them. They actually have a walkway you can take from MK to the Grand Floridian Resort. A 1/4 mile (maybe longer) and the walkway is made of these stones. Don't ask me how you could find yours though!! lol

That's all well & good for MK, but Legacy is a real bait & switch deal the way I saw it.

when we went to Disney World last , our hotel gave us this free offer for Leave a Legacy , so it was pretty awsome , my mom & I got too do that ! I guess they had to end it sometime though , but it did make quite a dramatic enterance to Epcot .

Are the stones going or are they just not selling them anymore?? I thought the existing images were going to stay?

I took a picture of our legacy when we went in 2002, but my old camera wouldn't focus on a closeup like that.
Hopefully i can go back and see it before they take them down
My wife and i are right in the center by the way lol

Yeah just seems to me that it would defeat the purpose of it being a "legacy" if they took the existing stones away. Maybe relocate them. Plus Id be pretty mad if I paid for one and they got rid of it.
