Pirates 3 still not finished, but series may be

The pirates' treasure (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,21700267-5006023,00.html)
Herald Sun - Melbourne, Australia

Hollywood super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer is in the gun. In a few weeks the final chapter of his adventure trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, will open simultaneously in theatres around the world - but the film is not finished. Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski and the film's editors, sound mixers and special-effects technicians face a week of sleepless nights before the print goes in the can.

The deadline is so tight Bruckheimer has not screened a rough cut for a test audience, a rite of passage for most Hollywood films and a chance for producers to make late changes. But if there is such a thing as a guaranteed Hollywood hit, the third Pirates film is it.

- - -

RUMOUR has it there will be a fourth Pirates movie and, with each chapter making $1.21 billion at the box office and hundreds of millions more in DVD sales, it is probably more than speculation. Bruckheimer, however, is adamant the series ends here. "This is the end," he says. "This is the end of the trilogy."

But does that mean there could be a Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off? "Whether there will be another movie depends on whether we can create something new and different, but this is the end," he adds.

Notice, though, how he does say, "this is the end of the trilogy?" Then admits that if they can create a new and different story, there may be more?

Just sounds to me like the almighty dollar will find its way....

Most likely, Bruckheimer would like to conentrate on developing the new Prince of Persia (http://www.visionsfantastic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13735&highlight=Persia) franchise now.

Oh you know someone out there's going to have spin off ideas for every single character all the way down to the guy who keeps losing his eye, maybe even the dog. But, I mean, come on, where does it end? They created a good movie based on the attraction, then they re-created an attraction to include sub-par inclusions from that movie's sequel, and now they're re-creating another Disneyland classic for that movie's 2nd sequel. There's not going to be much of Disneyland left if they keep going at this rate...

I can totally see Pintel and Ragetti (who keeps loosing his eye) in a Rosencrantz And Gildenstern Are Dead type of comedy.

Yeah, and what about the dog? Did he escape the canibals or what? The dog should have his own picture! (Okay, I'm totally joking about this one.)

^ maybe all about how he became king! (remember the very end of POTC 2?)

I REALLY hope a fourth POTC does not come out. Three is enough, Though I love the series.

He could just be saying that that's the "end of the trilogy" so the movie gets more attention as being "the last movie", just like how popular Star Wars Episode III was, because everyone knew it was the end to the trilogy.

Anyways, I think most movie series' end at the 3rd movie, or after that the movies start becoming less interesting.

I am laughing that they aren't even done and they are down to the wire. LOL Would be funny if it wasn't done in time for the premiere at the park. I really hope this is it. Enough pirates.

About 5 minutes into POTC 2 did it become less interesting for me...

Oh you never know, 5 minutes into this one it might become more interesting. As always I try to stay as objective as possible. Besides, with most trilogies out there, the 2nd one is usually the weakest anyway.
So, who knows? Won't change my attitude with the ride though, that never should have happened regardless if the movies were good/bad/otherwise.

^ Oh I don't know if that is true I mean Empire Stikes back, Temple of doom, Spiderman 2 Are all better than the third film in their respective trilogies. I guess it's all a matter opinion. I hope they don't make any more of these movies three is enough. I hope the third one is better than the second one, but I shouldn't be hard to please after seeing Spiderman 3.

Nah I have to disagree I liked Last Crusade a lot more than Temple of Doom & Jedi a lot more than Empire. I personally thought the third was the best installment of both Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Well it has to be the end of the "trilogy" because it's the third movie. If they make another one it wouldn't be a "trilogy" anymore. Has anyone ever thought that maybe he is keeping it under wraps? *shrug* Honestly, I can't wait for the next movie but I hate how commericalized everything is now. The new half anime, half action figure drawings of Jack and Will that are everywhere are annyoning and not that good look, IMHO.

Oh no, the thought just struck me...what if a Pirates prequel showing the mutiny on the Black Pearl & Sparrow's first marooning on the island came about?

I don't know about the whole " Three is enough " thing. If that were always the case, why would there be a 4th Indi coming out?

Si, si, si!

Pirates IV would be way, way over-doing it. Two was pushing the limit, considering the fact that two and three are the same story continued. At least Black Pearl (one of my favorite movies of all time) had a real ending.

Not a big fan of the cliffhanger. Great for making money on the next installment, not so great having to wait a year to finish everything.

I have an idea...now it's going to sound really wild so bear with me...

How about we make a movie that has a fantastic story that gives the audience a great time with a great message and was made because it is a good movie instead of simply in order to sell a whole bunch of stuff?
